I have noticed a change in termanology over the years. Today companies claim they are "laying off or been laid off" a number of employees. A few years ago, to be laid off means you still had a job and could be called back. These folks are not laid off they are fired and not coming back.
Laid off has always meant fired, but based off company performance, or lack thereof, not the employee's. Furloughed is when you are let go, or just have hours diminished, but can be called back to full employment in the future.
I’m concerned that the number of real reporters (i.e. those that actually do original reporting using verified facts) is dwindling fast. No one will be there to hold our representatives accountable. In my area, just northeast of Baltimore, we had a local newspaper that was taken over by the Baltimore Sun along with other local newspapers, then reporters were laid off and most of the paper just relays Sun articles that are not local. A while ago, the Sun, along with the several local newspapers, were bought by the right wing CEO of Sinclair, who operates three of the six full power commercial TV stations in Baltimore; will they end up merging their news teams? So, in my county, we have almost no reporters covering our local representatives in depth (maybe a few from some small online operations).
The "Fourth Estate" dropped the ball long ago on reporting when they started becoming more and more partisan. Our nation will be poorer because of it. It's like all our "news" is going to be press releases, advertising masquerading as news, and sports.
We have noticed that our ABC channel has had a lot of issues lately with their over the air feed with our antenna. It seems ALL our ABC affiliates show a LOT pixilated feeds no matter how much you scan for the channels.
Do you know where it is on the radiowave spectrum used for TV broadcasting? in my area the ABC station in at the bottom of the TV band (the VHF area) and needed an antenna with longer-wave reception 'rods' (for lack of a better term). I had the opposite problem with NBC as it was at the top end (UHF) and needed a simple 5G filter to get rid of 5G cellphone-type signal interference.
I've noticed that the local Nexstar TV channel is doing news for a station in Fayetteville. (AM talk station which had an independent news operation)--- so there is some income from both weather and news reporting (recorded perhaps 2-3 times per day at this point from the sound of things)--- Appears that Cumulus Media is hitting one of the income issues with news down there.
Should be interesting about what happens to WPIX-TV, Channel 11 (PIX 11), the Nexstar Media Group, Inc. owned-and-operated television station with possible layoffs. However, you can't pick up the station through an antenna. 🤷♂️🤦♂️
My gym had to take away the remote from members, because people would fight over CNN and Fox News being on the TVin the locker room. So, now they just put sports on the TV.
CNN would not be a great loss...I have not watched them forever 😮..CNN wants people to pay for their station... News is everywhere on the net....CNN is History 🤣😅🤣😅
I wanna know the news I can look it up on the phone or internet. I certainly am not tuning into a tv station for news. I wanna know the weather, I look out the window or shocker here, I actually walk outside and look at the sky, same as the meteorologist.
I can tell my local news has cut their budget, the one I watch the most barely has a sports segment anymore unless the local teams hit the playoffs or something. Rarely have a reporter out and about anymore, and when they do, they are using their cellphones and doing selfie reports. Seems like they cover more national news than State and Local news for what I tune in to see. Of course, wall-to-wall morbid drug ads have replaced the political ads.
When CNN stopped reporting real news and instead reported lies and propaganda was the downfall. With the internet, people can look up the real facts and see those lies with a little effort for themselves. When you lose all credibility, it’s over!!! MSNBC is far, far worse and that is saying a lot.
It's tough for me to understand who would want to buy a failing Cable News channel? I'm not sure there are enough eyeballs left in Cable to make it worth a big investment. Especially an investment for a "Fixer-upper" news channel.
Apple trying to push another minor upgrade as something major is nothing new, look how far it got them with their new I-phone. I'm happy with what I have, a TV with the ability to display a clear 1080 picture looks awesome to me. What's really needed is better basic sound quality right out of the box. If someone wants to add an aftermarket 'whizz-bang' sound system they can do that, but I just want to watch a program with decent sound quality coming out of the TV itself.
Unfortunately, the thin TVs of today have lousy sound quality. Even a modest soundbar is head and shoulders better and more intelligible. I have a 5.1 A/V system. That center speaker really helps.
I think Apple is going to try and make the new Apple TV a gaming system. They have been going all in on Games lately with iPhone. I have heard they are releasing a new "gaming system".
This is my exact thought. They thought their new business model would work, but it just turns me off. Only local for me. I haven't watched CNN since 2020 when they changed
I think that multiple leagues should go back to having over the Air games again. The NBA is doing this with their new agreement. I have peacock and Prime as well.
I have a cheaper Fire TV. 43 inches. That was running out of storage space for apps. So I got an Apple TV with 32 GB of memory and I don’t have that problem anymore.
CNN has some good programs that concentrate on news. CNN should combine with MSNBC. CNN have more news than Fox. But viewers for regular news and non right wing divided between many possibilities. Fox is almost all opinion that is called news and only right wing. CNN should Have mostly news programs particularly for each time zone prime time.
An 8k Apple player is a natural program from 4k. My guess is the new player will have Wireless 7. I don't have an 8k tv. Perhaps, in the future, when one of my TV, one of my TVS, dies or I add another another TV. Some people are oblivious to the resolution of their TVS and other devices. Resolution is simply a way to let you know if your devices look clear or blurry.
Why do you want billionaires owning news channels. How is this going to help anyone. Seriously think about that.X has become rage bait and forced political stuff on there.

Same here after it became the Democrat News Network.
I've never watch fox or newsmax!

CNN has a few very highly paid people including Anderson Cooper 180. Something has to give....
I think the highest paid people at CNN as far as anchors is Anderson and Wolf
I don't want CNN for free
The only thing left for CNN is the brand name. Toss the rest.
Not being sold but I haven't watched legacy TV news media in ages.
Same here...for starters, it's too depressing.
I live in Boston and I only watch the local news. That's all I need
CNN is not the same it used to have documentaries .
I would be pissed if I lose my local news
If people aren’t watching cnn when it’s free why would they pay for a paywall lol 😂

I can’t pick up ABC at all. Only two PBS stations, CBS, NBC, FOX and the affiliate stations.
I have had the same experience with ABC over the air reception.
I think the last time I was watching network news was when Huntley and Brinkley were the anchors of NBC. And Walter Cronkite was on CBS.😂
@@glennso47 "And that's the way it is".
It would be nice to have a news channel that had actually news. Not talking heads and opinions. Just news. You report, i'll decide.
Scripps News leans in that direction, imho
CNN Headline News used to be that way.
Try Straight Arrow News for national/international news if you can find it (its on the internet, too).
It’s called Fox News not one sided like the others

CNN may get a bump from MSNBC’s decline and possible demise. If so, the beancounters at WBD might hang on to CNN for awhile.
I never watched CNN. After 2025, I predict that CNN will be sold out. We want to watch news without the noise
“We will keep a close eye on it” do u have to repeat it 15 times😂
Warner Bros. just trying to reinvent the cable model.
