Thanks!
really great video and priceless content.. really good! im gonna apply this technic inshore at Fort Pierce jetty. thanks!
Great Video. When I used to live/fish in Boca area, I don't think in 7 years down there I ever caught a Vermillion. When fishing 50 miles out off NC coast, we get them in 100 to 200' of water. Maybe I didn't bottom fish that deep many years ago before the heavy pressure of nowdays in FL. I also have to use small pieces of squid as if I use a long strip, it will get ripped off by Triggers or other species as well as the Vermillion's.
Thanks Mike for the video!

Vermillion one of the best eating fish out there. Bonita small chunks work great. But also have caught them good with just tentacles
Thanks for the info.

What about catching them on a electric reel? We use a small circle hook and their mouths are so tender they almost always get off. Maybe use a j hook instead? I’ve tried reeling real slow
I dont seem to have a problem with a 3/0 VMC circle hook. yes you will lose some but rare. Thanks for watching and please join my streaming channel at www.FSFTV.com. Over 300 instructional videos, no UA-cam ads, a 24/7 Fishing Helpline, exclusive content and more! www.FSFTV.com - Capt Mike
@@FloridaSportFishing just ordered vmc nemesis 3/0 ringed
I’m surprised to see such long strips of bait. On the head boats out of Port Aransas, TX, Beeliners are the primary target outside of Federal Snapper season. We can keep 10 per day with a 10” min. Anyway, I always use my own rigs with smaller 2/0 circle hooks, and cut up the squid into 3/4” squares. With those tiny mouths, they pull the baits if you leave that much hanging off the hook. I haven’t figured out if there’s a seasonal correlation, but sometimes, the size of the bait is inversely proportional to the size of the vermillion. Currently, small baits have yielded smaller average fish than others on the boat, but the bite is much faster. Later, towards December and January, those smaller baits seem to attract bigger Vermillion. I tend to attract fewer Red Snapper in general, which can be a terrible nuisance when targeting Vermillion. Anyway, nice video. I’m going to try a bigger spread like yours, but keep my tiny baits and see how that compares. Thanks!
What brand hook you use?
@@gulp_man1026 I usually use Mustad Demon Perfect Circles, but there are several that make very nice 2/0’s. Owner, Billfisher and VMC of course.
