COGNIZANCE return with their sophomore album UPHEAVAL . Their signature sound of modern death metal laced with undeniable groove and technical prowess seals the deal that they’re ones to watch on the thriving UK death metal scene.
Despite UPHEAVAL channelling an all out riff-driven assault, the record is embellished by a rich sense of melody, emotive guitar solos and some of the most punishing vocals in the genre. COGNIZANCE once again demonstrates that speed and technicality can fully embrace groove and hooks - to compelling effect. UPHEAVAL was mixed and mastered by legendary Swedish producer Fredrik Nordstrom (At The Gates, Architects, Dimmu Borgir), adding the final cutting edge to the record.
LYRICS:
I find myself drifting
Narrowly avoiding immediate observation
Transfixed by what could be
Bias embedded deep into my skull
Inter dimensional interference
Consuming all
Distorting into self-induced fiction
Architecture of madness
A deceitful concoction
Tearing apart the great framework of our limited existence
Immaterial restraint twisting the corridor of time
An ethos diminished to extinction
Foreshadowed by frenetic tendencies
Divergent philosophies emerging
A sign of the times
Aeon sickness
Affinity to the toxins I breed
Self made horror
Unwelcome occupant
Self made horror through Aeon Sickness
Distorting into self induced fiction
Architecture of madness
A deceitful concoction
Tearing apart the great framework of our limited existence
Immaterial restraint twisting the perceived corridor of time
Frozen in a feedback loop
The body changes in composition
While horrors grow ever present
Battling with anecdotal memories
An ethos diminished to extinction
Frenetic bias
All consuming misery
Aeon sickness
Affinity to the toxins I breed
Self made horror
Unwelcome occupant
Aeon Sickness.

Never saw a tech death song being performed so calmly! 😂👌 So good!
Modestly br00tal
@Dawn Razor I'd like to see you doing better then
The guitar tone is mesmerizing. I can't even describe it.
Malignant Dominion quickly became a staple in my library so I'm stoked David stayed on board for this new stuff despite joining Obscura. That signature Baillie tone + Diepold blasting is a killer combo. Highly looking forward to Upheaval!
Which one is Dave?
@@Mohamed636 The drummer, David Diepold.
OMG, not only music is great but the lyrics are as well. I love how the vocalist growls.
How you guys can be that good !! Sweet Lord, David is just smashing it again ! Keep up the clean work folks !
My favorite old school, yet modern tech death band 💜💜
#HYYPEEEED
P.S. dat outro riff \m/
This track is fucking gold. Can't wait for the full release!
Already know this record is gonna be sick!!
Drummers let's go!!!🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥
Espectacular
SICK😈The drummer is beast👍Gratulation from Hungary👍
They never disappoint. Such a banger, guys!!
Great stuff 🤘
Brilliant song
The musicians make this shit look so easy. That just shows how high the level of musicianship is. Absolutely fuckin dope!!
Thanks to 66Samus for turning me on to you guys.
That was fkn awesome!
SO stoked for the new album. By far my favorite tech band out there atm
Just discovered this band, and despite i am usually bored with modern technical death metal, i really enjoyed this catchier way of composing music! BTW at 3:24 , i loved the Cynic-ish riff ! Bravo from France !
I bought the album just so I could take from 3:24 of this song on, cut it, and play it on loop. It's the perfect backing track for life, I think it would make everything much nicer to have it playing 24/7
@@msihcs8171 Send me the loop please hahaha, If heaven was real that’s what it would sound like.
That's also one of my favorite moments in the record. Alex had initially asked me to try a solo over this section, but the chords were very cool so I though a solo would detract from them and came up with this melody line you hear now instead...Glad you guys dig it too!
@@misaduo9247 thanks for the explanations ! very cool riff !
So hyped for this monstrous album
Brutal 🤘😈🤘
Your Malignant Dominion album eased its way up to my top ten best techdeath albums of all time so it's easy to say how I'm excited about the new album.
david is my freakin idol and as an austrian im even more intrigued by his unmistakable and remarkable skills! män after a gösser bier i wouldnt be able to play a fith of his whatsoever! discombobulating inferno of intricate drum patterns. im bewildered. again. hob di lieb david. sauf ans af di oida
immer diese Alkis hier xD
Kick ass
HOLY SMACKS
Diepold's blasts are hypnotizing.
loved it brilliant stuff
Wow! This band is AMAZING. Just discovered them and I love it
A one way ticket to riff City everytime, you guys just don't miss!
Ps. Alex is the geodude of metal 😂
🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥
Solid as heck
This is gold.
🤘🌞🏹✨❄️🍻🎶
I love this band!!!
Damn! Who knew Alex was able to do gutturals!!
The production on this is mind-blowingly good. In a time where a lot of metal albums sound like they were mixed to sound good on laptop speakers this is a breath of fresh air.
I really like the more straight aggressive not to complicated style of tech death, this band does :) Really good riffs and well placed melodies. i get a similiar vibe from this like non so vile and isle of disenchantment
And still. Fking with this
Haven’t been impressed with much since necrophagist and obscura, but this… scratching my itch 🥴
That’s the spirit - new tune this Tuesday to help with that itch!
Holy SHIT guys !
Solo guitare IS pretty great !
I fucking love you mother fuckers!!!!
Good song... random side note: black Ibanez guy looks high as fuck, the drummer looks like Diepold (edit.... oh...)
I was just high on life m8....I swear 😃
cool song but don't get the dethklok comparison. sounds nothing like them
Seems more the layering and lyrical inspiration. Very mild.
why do all of these dudes look super bored
