40 years ago with Dragon's Lair and Space ace this kind of game was future gen at the time. Nothing like it on the market and despite being directional-button press games they showed what the future was capable of at the time. The Grand FATHER of CD Laser disc and what a show stopper it was
You forgot to open the back which has a laser disk machine replica. You can put in the disc in comes with.
Just seeing that playing on that little cabinet put a big ole smile on my face. I can imagine my 5 year old self being completely blown away by something like this 40 years ago.

I'm holding out for a 720 cabinet. Probably won't happen, but for some reason that's the one I want.

MLP, Great video as usual. Received mine yesterday. The quality is amazing. Can't wait for my ghost and goblins and ghouls and ghosts cabinets this Halloween. They also allow you to put in the mini tokens, and I registers credits like it would on a real machine, plus many other extras. Can't wait.

Mine is due to arrive today and I can't wait, as I'm a HUGE fan of Laser Disc games(hope they do more at some point), so this cab was a must. What's amazing is growing up in arcades of the 80's, I only ever saw 1 of these dedicated cabs that I can remember. And what's funny is that when I saw it, I thought it was a conversion cab, as it looked so weird compered to the DL cab. So I guess DL was no longer bringing in the dollars, so everyplace just converted the units they had, and that's why I never saw any dedicated models.
Imagine if this mini machine had come out in the 90s. I wonder how much it would have cost back then?

Dude, Don Bluthe artwork is so cool. Kids today don't realize, at one point His studio was the biggest competitor to Disney there was, in terms of animated feature films. My pops was a wiz on this and dragons lair lol

'Looks' being the operative word. These games were zero fun.
Mine is scheduled to be delivered tomorrow (4/27). What's cool about this Space Ace and the Dragon's Lair Overhaul is New Wave Toys is supposed to be making 1/6 scale spectator monitors for these that work through the HDMI port so it puts a monitor on top of the cabinet so they look like they did in the arcade where they had a monitor on top of the cabinet. We all know Dragon's Lair II is coming (it's just a matter of time), so I'm going to get three of those 1/6 replica monitors so my Dragon's Lair trilogy collection will all have the spectator monitors on them. I've pressed New Wave Toys on when those 1/6 scale monitors are coming, but they're being VERY tight lipped.
The HD output is only 720p thats why it doesn't look that good on a large external screen.

I'm personally wondering if the "Level Select" buttons (Cadet / Captain / Space Ace), aside from responding with the LED's on the cabinet, actually alter the game play at all. I've never seen anything aside from the "Space Ace" level be functional on any home version thus far that I'm aware of. Anyone know?!? 🤨

I like the way that these, due to your expression of appreciation, have good screens. The screen quality of the Numskull Quarter Arcades made me return the units I bought - simply unacceptable, but I take it that these are better?

I noticed with my SpaceAce and most recent DragonsLair I often die when I did indeed hit the action in time, the action timings are slightly off, with the disadvantage on the player. This issue is not present in my original Replitronics DragonsLair. Hoping for firmware updates at some point
Saw another review of the retrofitted cab. i noticed that their volcano buttons where you pick the difficulty level lights up.I got this cab today asnd noticed mine doesnt light up like yours. bummer
The faux laser disc player is in the back drawer of course.
I was fighting bots to get the 1st dragons lair machine ... got it in the bag at the very second the count down ended ... still sold out before I could pay. 😢 anyway I got it on the next run by pre payment so pleased to own one! I actually hate the game because it's so annoyingly hard but its a great little item to keep on the shelf !
Just got my conversion kit model and it does not play the attract mode after you finish a game. This can be seen in Mad Pixels video also, at the end of the video, he’s done playing and it should go into attract mode by itself. It’s frozen on the main title screen. Anyone else having this issue or is it the original rom that’s doing it? Sent a ticket to NWT. We will see.
I just checked the Mad Pixels video you referenced and he still has 2 credits left when it's stuck on the static screen.

And so did Dragon's Lair. Don Bluth studios gave Ruby Spears productions model sheets of Dirk and Daphne but of course for Saturday mornings Daphne had to be a bit more clothed.

@@TheRyan4778 They did suck. I remember anxiously waiting for DL to air only to be completely disappointed saying to myself "what is this crap?" There was no way Don B was going to do a Saturday morning cartoon given the drop in quality that was necessary due to budgets and the need for weekly product. I only wish he was doing the DL movie but even then Don was trying to make it darker and more adult and so he changed the designs for Dirk and Daphne which I personally hate.
@@chrisburns1973 Yea, the redesigned Daphne was especially awful. I personally wanted her to be in her original outfit. As a kid, I certainly had no problem with how she was originally dressed, lol.
With these mini arcades they really need to have controllers that you can hookup to the mini arcade if you are playing the game on a TV or bigger screen because those little buttons and stick aren't very uncomfortable to use while playing on a bigger screen.

@@edwardmclaughlin719 It may be a collectable but why put a game that can actually play honestly things like these mini arcades are collectables that are ment to be played not just kept on a shelf so putting controller ports that can be covered up is not out of the question since they put HDMI port on the back of the mini arcade so that tells you that they want to to hook them up and play with the collectable.

Id love to have all 3. Conceivably you could also plug this into a dedicated setup, not sure how much resolution would be dropped, but just one on a table or desk would be cool piece, a conversation starter for sure in and office/bar shelf. The price Is still high, probably due to licensing and because you could make it into a semi retro full arcade machine, again minus some resolution, if you hooked it into the right button set up. Needs to be more like 60 bucks. Like others have said, its an emulator with only one game, but the athesthetics push it up to maybe the $60-100 range. If they deliberately do limited runs, that will bump the price back up to $150 and higher, but why do that? There are only 3 Daphne games with the special marquee and Don Bluth content to my knowledge so doing limited runs just limits the sales possible. I wouldnt consider buying this type item for anything other than Daphne, possibly a Neo Geo multi game cabinet, but then again, most games are just too hard to play this way.

I don’t really see the point of these… I mean the screen is so small.. more than likely will have cramped fingers… I mean if you want to spend 100 bucks for a paperweight that will sit on a shelf and collect dust more power to ya… to each their own I guess
I don't get it myself? Most people buying these will maybe play them a few times then put them on the shelf for it's remaining time. Biggest turn off for me besides pricing is how small the screen is on the arcade machine.
It's another waste of plastic and money. This whole channel is a great showcase of just how much absolute, useless plastic junk is created by the game industry. All these things, Arcade 1 ups, retro style machines, and Funko Pops will end up in landfills, as the people scream for more.

It’s a collector’s item. If people pay $200+ for Hot Toys figurines, why would a dead accurate reproduction of your favorite arcade cabinets not be worth it?
