Bekele is still the record holder for the 5000m and 10000m.
The Ugandans record should not be official. He was literally handed the WR on a silver platter.
Please Watch this video. ( UA-cam keeps removing the link. Search for WR comparison Showdown Bekeles vs Cheptegei by The Lapras Man) It's a side by side comparison of Bekeles real WR and the NN time trial by Cheptegei. The Ugandans splits were metronomic (2:37 per KM for the whole time trial!) Why is that? Because a machine was pacing him. Those robotic wavelight technology on the track. That whole thing was staged for him precisely. Like the INEOS challenge in Vienna. Planned by NN to the millimeter.
Watch the 5000m comparison too. Bekeles splits were Uneven. He had variations in his tempo. He had more in tank for sure. The thing is he ran by his heart and didn't have a whole team orchestrate and engineer a record for him. ...

Nope they weren't. You know that these atlethes from east africa had poor lives. Before fame they lived exactly maybe even worse than the europeans in 19s. Training is what it is all based on bro, you can't win without training so saying I had a bad training is the same as failing an exam and then saying I studied bad but I am still impressive. Your passion and how much time and effort you put on something is the most important thing after food tho.

@@VeridicusMaximus I understand that things are more comfy now but even if we come to the marathon. Our generation is trying to go under 2h while in the 19s they barely made it under sub 3 hahahs. The only reason we are better now is because the challenge is higher. Back then there was no high records, which means they didn't have to push that hard. The records have slowly improved thru this century. One by one an athelete broke the record until we are finally here. So I think everyone that wins a race and specially sets a record is beyond amazing.

Great summary. I would like to run in 1896 or before and hope to get a better place. I think these people never used horses. Most people focused on building upper body strength and used horses for moving. These people seem to rely solely on running and not on upper body strength as much.long distance running minimizes upper body weight and strength and that may not be the most optimal body

In today's competitive environment, no record is secure even Bekele's 1237. But Bekele's 5k WR is about approaching the limits of human performance. The next 5k WR when it comes(it is inevitable) will exceed it by a second or two but not by more. I say the next 5k WR will be in the neighborhood of 1237 or so or around 402 mile pace

@wan jau I know that Mo Farah isn't in the same world as Gebresselassie and Bekele. I just listed the runners who ran under 3:30 for 1500, 7:30 for 3K and 13:00 for 5K. Mo Farah did that while Bekele never did that

9:45 That is actually not correct. Besides Aouita, there have been also Komen, El Guerrouj and Saidi-Sief, who accomplished 5000m under 13:00, 3000m under 7:30 and 1500m under 3:30. So there have have been 4 athletes, not only 2. Aouita's advantage compared to the others is that he also ran under 1:44 for 800m.

Morrocco definitely has a huge doping thing going on. It’s suspicious with Hicham el Gourrouj and Said Aquita both pushing the boundaries and considering the fact Morrocos running has been relatively irrelevant since

Daniel Komen could have been one of the greatest runners of all time, but he just didn't care about running outside of the money that it earned for his family. Once he had enough money to live comfortably for the rest of his life, he faded away.
