We call that the Heisman at my gym. Great escape.
Great name! I get why you all call it that. Sweet!!
I actually just discovered this move on my own. Guy was playing a little low and I said to myself I bet I can push his arm pit and just get up or reverse side control. It has worked for me a lot
That's awesome. Keep hitting it!!
I do this escape all the time! Never learned it, just figured it out on my own but I like the name for it
Sweet!!
Dude same
Great video and great editing!
Glad you liked it!
I call it key to the city, works great from guard when he reaches under your leg for a stack pass. You'll start seeing it from different situations also, I push tricep right above the elbow
Cool name. Once you see it, it is everywhere!!
My favorite escape.
If they back off and you can't roll them onto their back you still have enough space to get your butterfly hooks back in.
Yes, great option! Or scoot out and stand up, if that is your thing.
Love it. Sometimes I hit, sometimes I don't. Tougher on the big guys. Key takeaway here is that handing off from one hand to the next. Gotta try that little detail. Thank you.
Good luck. For me, on really big guys, I often can reguard if I can't get them all the way off. Better than side control!!
I like this one. It's awesome when you get the full sweep and end up on top.
That is a sweet feeling!
Awesome. Thanks you.
Once you see it, you'll see it lots of places! Good luck!!
Quick switch to side control "3" where they're in better control to switch to mount is possible.
I am not following you. What is side control 3?
@DirtballBJJ their body is facing your legs instead of being focused more towards the head. Having a hard time finding a video or Pic to show, and I'm using the term used at the gym I go to. I have a feeling you already know what it is though
Yep. I understand now. Thanks.
Of course there are always counters to counters to counters, which is the beauty of grappling. I'll feel like I have had people try that with me before. I'll go back and lab it some and see what options there are. Thanks!!
this is awesome
You know it!
Awesome!
Thanks. I had a great demo partner!!
This is a technique Erik Paulson created years ago for Josh Barnett I believe when he fought one of the nogiera brothers. It’s called the y escape I learned it from him
Erik Paulson is the man! He has got tons of great stuff, for sure.
Ill give it a go
It is a great move! Good luck!!
Would this work on big guys?
Short answer...Yes! Long answer.... Yes, but it takes different forms. A strong person can just shove them off, but a smaller person needs to work on timing and position to make it super effective. I am 230 lbs +/-, I train with a guy who is 170ish and he catches me with this from time to time if I get sloppy with my body position. I've trained with 300lbs-ers and have used it against them, but again timing and body position matter more in those cases.
Will it work on big guys
That sort of depends on how big they are! The more you can nail the timing and movement the easier it gets. I'm on the bigger end ~230 lbs 5'11" and I've used in on 300 lbs-ers, but at that extreme it was heavy on the finesse and less on the muscle.
Türkiye get up
As Shawn Spencer is fond of saying, "I've heard it both ways"
What is american catch jitsu?
A hybrid of Brazilian Jiu Jitsu, Catch Wrestling, Sambo, and Judo all rolled into one beautiful package. Made in America.
@@DirtballBJJ In practice, how does it differ from "pure" BJJ? The only thing that I see different among the individual sports you listed above is the ruleset (and to a minor degree the uniform). Otherwise, the techniques are identical across.
@@anonymousreviewer169 You are 100% correct. In reality it is all just grappling, with artificial constraints thrown in. Rule sets often define the art for people, for better or worse. I generally only focus on grappling moves, and avoid striking.
"Pure bjj" is just a small subsection of submission wrestling.
@@kallepikku4991I tend to agree.
