Then press the lock symbol on the FOB and hold it down until you see the red light. Now, walk out of proximity range and wait a few minutes. Come back to the bike with the FOB and press the key button and hold down until it turns green. Then try to turn the ignition.

Was on the list for a Trail 125. After seeing reviews about the ADV I decided to consider one. Luckily my dealer actually had one in stock. After seeing it I put my money down. It has exceeded my expectations, I knew what the limitations are. It’s my daily commuter. I take it with when I’m camping. I have done a short interstate trip with it and I love it. After riding motorcycles for 50 years I really enjoy the simplicity of the scooter. These days the gas mileage is a plus! Mods I’ve done enhance utility. @@Trekopolisyou made the point about top end acceleration on the highway, but as @ama409573 mentioned, mods can address shortcomings. What are your feelings on upgrading the variator to a performance variator?
I saw another UA-cam vid where the dude was a big proponent of it to increase your top end revs. I honestly had never heard of it before then and had assumed boring out an engine was the only way to significantly increase performance.
Obviously, a bore kit reduces the lifespan of your engine, which defeats the purpose of buying a Honda. What are your thoughts/concerns on a performance variator, though? 🛵🛠️💁🏻‍♂️

@@TuNnL Personality I'm not messing with it because the speed, performance, and joy the bike provides is perfect for my riding style. If I wanted a faster bike I would have simply bought a larger cc engine. I knew before I purchased the bike what I was getting and I have never once regretted that decision. Speeds of 35-40mph all day long is way more enjoyable to me than maxing it out at 67mph or more with upgrades. That's why I urge people to research everything before making purchases of any kind. You are right, the main question I get about my 2022 ADV is how fast will it go. A 150cc anything scooter, lawn mower is not a lot of cc’s for power. You should never push a engine to its Max for any length of time if you want it to last. 45 mph is a comfortable speed on this scooter where you have some power to get away from traffic if needed. In Iowa you don’t need to ride the bike size you will actually be riding for motorcycle testing. I weigh 240 lbs and get consistently over 100 mpg per tank in town riding so far having about 1,500 miles on my scooter. I don’t use hard acceleration from stop signs or lights. It’s a very comfortable scooter riding as it was designed for.👍

Just picked up a 2022 ADV last week. Feel like that was me making all the comments about the bike.
I too bought it to suppliment my van and use it for short trips to the store. I am lucky that all the roads around here are 55 MPH, and the ADV can handle that with ease. I agree I would never consider taking this out on an interstate HWY, and think those that do are nuts. Get a bigger machine.
My warp speed days are behind me as well. I an perfectly happy doing 45-50 (55 when I have to) and enjoying the ride. Will be upgrading the seat and wind screen though. I am 6'2" and the stock screen is way too low.

hi bud, thx for the video. I highly recommend you to buy the service manual, it costs around $60 and it has a lot of details if you planning to do self service, this manual is the same one uses by the mechanics at the dealers etc. i love it plus you learn more deeply about the scooter, and its confirmed from the service manual about the gear oil, it uses the same as the engine oil which its funny because everyone on youtube uses the popular little bottle titled "scooter gear oil" but i did contact the honda support team via email and they confirmed it. On the ridercourse i didnt know but there is a very small option that you can find when you submit or book your class where you can check/request to do the ridercourse with the scooter or automatic. i noticed the day before my class started so it was too late for me and i didnt want to delay it or re-schedule plus its worth to learn manual shift and it was piece a cake. On one more point you brought, i believe these scooters will be high demand (get on waiting list) if they are not already are because the gas price is keeping going up i'm sure people will figure to save gas with scooters like these :)

I agreed with pretty much everything you said. I don't want to go on a high speed highway with other fast moving vehicles. I'm also not a fan of the high winds so I keep my top speed to around 50mph. Dealership availability varies. I've run into it twice only to see them sell quite quickly. I got the chance to see an ADV150 up next to a PCX150. The new red ADV looks quite nice. I could see myself wanting that color if I didn't have one already. The PCX was in white and it looked quite good, but I think the ADV is overall cooler because it looks more rebellious and sporty. Like you, I also initially wanted the PCX, but then once I took a good look at the ADV, I got sold on it. Switched out the oil last week after putting 570 miles on mine. It was a piece of cake after I got all the correct tools. I still have to switch out the transmission/gear fluid. I was told that it is the same engine oil that goes in the bike. Can you confirm that it's the same oil? One eastern video I found a guy was clearly putting something called "Scooter Gear Oil." I haven't found an English video on UA-cam of anyone doing that job, but it looks quite easy. From what I've heard, it should be done once a year with the gear oil. Anyhow, looks like you had yourself a nice ride. Enjoyable as always. Peace.

Great review of your ADV150. I have a 2021 PCX160, and yesterday, while riding, I stopped in a motorcycle dealer, and test rode a 2021 ADV150. Comparison of the two - the PCX is little quicker and more responsive on the throttle. The PCX top speed stock is right at 67mph, just fyi. The ADV seat was more firm than PCX, but comfort was about the same. The ADV's black and white instrument panel is difficult to see in the sunlight, and the PCX panel has better layout, and color instrumentation. The suspension of the ADV made the ride much smoother. If there was one of each, and both the same price - I would select the ADV. Since Honda is putting the 160 engine in the 2024 ADV's, that makes the ADV a no brainer decision for next year.

Some very good points. I have rented scooters before, on vacations, and enjoyed them, except for the god awful bumps. Nonetheless, I own a full sized motorcycle and you make a good point regarding price. For the out-the-door price of a new ADV, you could buy a pretty nice used motorcycle, that would be more stable and can be on the highway. Even our secondary roads are 40 or 45, which turns out to be 50 to 60. I really like the idea though, of something simple for quick short trips, but once you ride a motorcycle that can keep up with cars, even on the interstate, it is hard to go back. Anyways, if I should ever be in the need, I probably will look used.

The Honda ADV 150 is manufactured in Indonesia, so it would actually be really weird if it wasn't cheaper there. At a bare minimum, U.S. buyers are paying a shipping (literally ⛵) charge, to North America, which is pretty far from ANY Asian country.
Then, of course, big riggers who deliver to the dealers in the U.S. are unionized/paid a higher salary than in Asian countries, and other than China, U.S. truckers have a much longer drive to get to the various sales lots. Tack on that good 'ol "destination charge."
It looks like the new 2023 ADV 160 should bring the scooter up to speed with the old PCX, though. 🛵

I own a 2022 PCX 160 ABS. It's by far better in every way possible. Yes, the PCX is faster because the frame is lighter and yes, they share the exact same engine but still both bikes are not safe for highway use, as he stated, you're only going to get 65-67 mph consistently, and that's full throttle red lining. Where I live the highway speed is posted at 70mph but everyone is doing 85-90mph. You would die even trying here lol 😆. These are urban commuter bikes, NOT HIGHWAY BIKES.

I purchased a 22 ADV150 July 5th this year. It’s my first bike/scooter. I’ve wanted one since I was a kid and at 53 I have absolutely loved my purchase. 1100 miles so far. Definitely not an interstate driver at all. 70+mph traffic (80) for cars and trucks is not feasible for the adv150. The wind and turbulence is scary. The scooter is just not heavy enough. I’m 5’7 280 and can maintain 63-64mph, any down hill road will hit 67-70. Of course the limiter kicks in at 67. 55-60 all day long not at full throttle. I stay to highways at or under 55mph and it does great.

You had mentioned that it can go up to 65 and you kind of mentioned that 55 to 60 is semi okay. Most the whole way to my work will be going down that road. Do you think it'll be okay? Even when I drive my car the most I go is 60 on that road.

    • @Trekopolis
      @Trekopolis  11 місяців тому

It's fine, my comment was only a personal opinion. The bike can reach speeds up to 67mph before it bounces off the limiter or whatever the technical process is. The drive pullies and innards only go so fast. I would say if you're not bouncing off the limit of the bike for the entire trip each day it won't hurt anything. You can do 55-60 all day long, it's just not what I enjoy because of the wind and stuff. Be sure to change your oil at regular intervals and you'll be good. These engines are solid and are designed to take a beating as long as you do the maintenance. Remember, it's a Honda so you can sleep well. ;)

I've seen other videos where people show wear on the rollers that can happen, but don't know specifics. Here's the Gear Oil video link: ua-cam.com/video/k2rGlj_1K6I/v-deo.html
I don't think there's any specific accessories that helps with better handling, it's more for comfort and looks. The stock tires are decent, but a better tire may help with handling more than anything. Michelin City Grips are nice. Hope this helps and keep browsing UA-cam for tips on CVT information. Instead of rushing to take away freedoms, how about adding knowledge of operating motorcycles to the regular drivers license exam, and give every driver a motorcycle endorsement up to say, 350cc? That would remove a primary barrier for new riders, and it would result in more drivers becoming motorcyclists. The added safety awareness generated by that freedom would protect more riders from accidents and injury than the MSF ever could.

Motorcycles were to designed to handle speed and accelerate due to their much larger 300 cc all the way to 1000cc and beyond. You only get what you pay for when you buy a scooter, which is basically a mini motorcycle. Scooters not designed to be as efficient as motorcycles. Scooters are a cross between a bike and electric bike and a motorcycle.

The Honda PCV 300 is a better choice if you like scooters and "the bike feel". Scooters much easier to ride than motorcycles, and are more maneuverable in traffic, and can be ridden for longer periods of time than motorcycles, due to the center of gravity(weight

I did take a 90 mile highway trip to Bangkok with few problems but it was a little scary the first hour with all the trucks on the road. tbh this scooter is good enough to travel all over Thailand, which many people do. tbh if I was in the U.S. I'd buy a motorcycle instead of a scooter, so much more bang for your buck why get ripped off by Honda?

Fwiw, I'm about to acquire a new lifan kpv 150 and can't wait, having chosen it over several other more traditional bike options and riding on the hwy wasn't even part of my consideration...honestly, I just don't really understand why ppl care so much about whether this or that bike can keep up on the hwy, as highways are the worst type of surface to ride on, imo, to be avoided at all costs, it's just so damn boring and too sketch to be worthwile....

It depends on the daily commute aspect probably. Since most Americans have these bikes as toys, they are more commonly used to enjoy cruising around on back roads, away from major traffic. Maybe the people who care about top speed plan to use them more for commuting. 🤷🏼‍♂️ Congrats on the new bike! 👍🏼✌🏽

@@Trekopolis i guess my thinking goes something along the lines of; regardless of whether the destination is for work or otherwise, at least a part of why you're riding a bike any time you are is because it's more enjoyable than the alternatives, correct?...at least for me this is true. so, even if I'm riding to work, i might as well make an effort to maximize my enjoyment in that here and now and skip those deplorable stretches of pavement called highways/freeways/turnpikes, etc. Always seems like a better choice, rather than hopefully, maybe, save some make believe future time, there and then, by choosing that dastardly hwy ride. most often, "saving time" seems to be exactly why ppl choose to ride on the hwy over other alternatives... more so anyway than, "because I enjoy doing so," which is silly, again, imo of course.

For me, during the winter I'm not going to freeze my ass off commuting to work because that would destroy the experience. I hate being cold. So the bike gets put away from September until around April for me. Warmer gear could lengthen the riding time, but I enjoy it much more when it's warm outside. Everyone is different.
