I want a regular shifter because of an injury to my right hand which reduces my dexterity in my fingers and basically has taken a bunch of nice Fords out of the running for me.
It's too close to and identical to a radio dial. You go to change the station, suddenly you're in reverse on a highway. Also, if you've been in an accident, how do you get the car into neutral with the door open to push the car out of the way?
Dial to manual, then hit the 'm' button in the center of the dial. Locks the transmission into neutral Also, a lot of modern cars, don't have manual linkages into the transmission. It doesn't matter how the selector manifests. I don't care for it in my vehicle, but I also don't hate it. It won't let you go into reverse on the highway.
