I loved both "The Weight of Blood" and "The Shuddering" and I think both would be great movies if adapted (directed by M.Night Shymalan or Jordan Peele).
Read the new grady hendrix, which is more of an evil doll novel (like night of the living dummy or william goldman’s magic), not as much a haunted house book. Really great stuff though. Pupkin was super annoying, but kinda sad too. The puppet group mark joined was probably the scariest part of the book. highly recommend.
I just read blood on the tracks too and for the life of me can't get all the hype. Nothing happens. Anyways, you might like the book Mary by Nat Cassidy, but just be warned that it is very long. It is a tribute to SK's Carrie but instead of dealing with menarche it deals with menopause. I thought it was fairly good (esp for a debut), but like I said, too long. On a different note, are you going to watch the new russell crow exorcist movie? it looks so promising (imo)
I will have to bring up there's some controversy around Erika Wurth because an article from the NY Post looked into her familial history and found no Native ancestry. I'm disappointed since some of her books i was really looking forward to reading
I have looked at the article again and it does mainly quote Jacqueline Keeler who's tactics have been heavily questioned and scrutinized the article also quoted a Chicksaw man who also says that she is lying about having Native ancestry. It isn't 100% clear but I removed her books from my TBR
This is a great wrap up. I just read Stephen graham jones latest and loved it! And catrina wards new book. Awesome! Right now I’m not enjoying what I’m reading but I don’t dnf so.
My favourite David Sedaris book is Dress Your Family in Corduroy. So funny! I met him several years ago and he is so dark humored and witty, you can't help but love him.
I haven’t heard the best things about lucky girl, but I wish I had a group of friends to exchange Christmas gifts with while enjoying ghost stories and horror lol. To me that sounds like the ultimate vibe!
I know it's not a book but if you haven't seen the cabinet of curiosities on Netflix yet, they have a decent self storage story in there. I believe it's episode 1
Come Closer and The Weight of Blood are both great! One horror book that I read recently that I absolutely love is Our Wives Under the Sea by Julia Armfeld. It’s more of a literary horror and slow burn, but it’s about a woman whose wife returns after being presumed missing during a deep sea exploratory mission. Highly recommend!
It's more like a suspense/thriller/mystery rabbit hole type of story with strong Stephen King vibes like IT or Stand by Me. I found it a highly addictive read !
Come Closer by Sara Gran is EVERYTHING ❤
It's really good!
I loved both "The Weight of Blood" and "The Shuddering" and I think both would be great movies if adapted (directed by M.Night Shymalan or Jordan Peele).
Every Tiffany D Jackson book I've read was 🔥. Mondays Not Coming (not horror) has been on my mind since I read it years ago
Need to read more from her!

highly recommend.
Just picked up Lucky Girl haven't read it yet but it's on my TBR right know reading Hellfire by John Saul
I read Sara Gran's COME CLOSER many years ago, when it originally came out, and was just blown away by it!
Loved Come Closer and I'm looking forward to The Weight of Blood!
I just found your channel and gonna watch everything :D I also talk about horror on mine..but it's hard buisness this youtube!
You need to try the next three volumes of Blood in the Tracks. I’m all caught up with the series and let me tell you, it gets dark real quick.
how was "episode thirteen"???? you gonna give a review?
Yes! I filmed this before finishing the book, so it will be in my next wrap up. Spoiler alert: I loved it!
@@mandysmorgueofhorror aweome!! im getting it now😁
Yass I agree with your woman in horror comment. 👏 horror is such a male dominated industry so it's great to see books by women do well!
I recently picked up come closer and i am so excited to read it. Its so up my alley.
Great channel. I like that you add manga/graphic novels in as well.

Ohhh interesting about Mary - I had no idea it was a tribute to Carrie! I will prob see the movie when it’s available to stream.

I definitely want to read the shuddering! Someone told me it reminded them of the game until dawn and that was enough for me.
Yes! I haven’t played the game, but I’ve watched other people play it. It def has those vibes!
The Weight of Blood and Come Closer sound really cool!
Do you know any books about monkeys? Or apes? I think a book about orangutans would be great!
Lol Monkey Shines
im going to Barnes and Nobel and get "Episode Thirteen" it sounds like a good read
It’s so good!
Great video and book notes.
I just love horror books.

Omg I just finished the festival today. I loved it. Great video, Mandy!

Thanks for such a good informative video Mandy.😊

Omg that sounds interesting!
Congratulations on 9k btw, Mandy! Very well deserved, as your movie and book recommendations are always bomb.💕
Thank you!
I felt the exact same thing with Blood on the Tracks but a few people I trust say it gets amazing so I definitely want to pick up the second one!
Maybe one day I will pick up the second because I really have no self control lol
@@mandysmorgueofhorror could not have said it better myself, it’s impossible to have control when it comes to new books
The manga series that I enjoyed the most was "20th Century Boys"
Is it horror?
It's more like a suspense/thriller/mystery rabbit hole type of story with strong Stephen King vibes like IT or Stand by Me. I found it a highly addictive read !
