Full Story:
Max, an older Shih Tzu, was found wandering the streets of Anaheim, California. He was lost or abandoned by his former owners based on his loving and trusting disposition towards people.
OC Animal Care brought Max to the shelter, where older, unattractive, shy dogs are often ignored. Hollywood Groomers decided to donate four vans and the services of five groomers and in doing so saved many lives.
That day, Hollywood Groomers cut, groomed, spruced and glammed up 56 dogs who have since been adopted, including Max.
Every dog deserves a second look, a second chance and a second home! Please share Max's story.

How anybody could not want to adopt him even without a groom is beyond me he his such a beautiful dog ❤️❤️
The kindness of the groomer kissed the little dog caught me off guard and brought a tear to my eye, god bless all who are loving and kind .
I would honestly adopt even the non groomed version because he is so still cute and those eyes can melt anyone's heart..the person who abandoned him is not human

We rescued our shih-tzu 7 years ago! Best dog in the world! Don't know who would ever mistreat her, but we are grateful to have found her at our local shelter!

Shih Tzu is my favourite dog breed

Older animals need just as much love as young one's.

How could someone leave a dog like that!! I have a shih tzu and he is the kindest thing ever!! We got him from someone who didn't look after him very well! When we got him, he was a bit scared but now everyone loves him!! I don't really like dogs that much but I love him!!!! He makes my younger brother so Happy! We adopted a Shih Tzu about six weeks ago. Around nine years old, hair all a mess, lots teeth removed by the Humane Society...previous owner surrendered him as they could no longer provide the care he needed. My son found him at the shelter and just had to come home with him. After a bath and a quick grooming and check over by our vet, he's perfect. Very loving, dog...stubborn, but he's a great addition to our family. I'm glad we rescued him.
So happy this sweetie found a new and hopefully happy forever home.

I love shih tzus. I have a 9 month old shih tzu and he is my baby. Can’t imagine my world without him. He greets me at the door everyday when i come home from work. He gets extremely excited. Every time i leave for a couple hrs i come home and same thing goes nuts to see me. He makes my days. I never imagined how much i would love that little rascal. His name is Brady but I call him my little quarterback 😂

Seeing people save dogs are the most precious things. Dog owners abandoned their dogs because they want to waste money, like a ton! All those adopters out there are giving dogs a 2nd chance to feel the love and have a cozy home.
You can save a dog or a cat too - just go to your local shelter and save a life. :)

I fostered a dog who had sat for many weeks. First thing I did was bath and get out mats. Took the little guy to a groomer.. sent new pictures to the shelter. Once he was groomer he had many offers to adopt. Lucky for me extended family adopted him so I still get to see him. The grooming made all the difference.

I don’t know how mine looked during his prolonged time in the shelter, but he looked cleaned and groomed by the time I saw his profile with his foster after being rescued from the shelter kill list. I think in addition to be cleaned and groomed, adding a bite of cuteness such as a bow or other human-like accessory helps in getting them adopted.
I realize this video is from Sept. 2016, but somehow felt compelled to bring it back to life.
I was deeply touched by watching this video. As soon as I saw how that lady from @hollywoodgrooming take Max into her arms gently, hugged and kissed him, I immediately stopped the video to click the "LIKE" , NOTIFY", and "SUBSCRIBE" button !!!! 💘💘💘💘💘 I could tell right away that this was not just a job for this woman. I actually got misty eyed watching her bathe and transform him into a charming Prince !!!
We've had 3 Shih Tzu's who all lived to ripe old ages before they had to move on to the Rainbow Bridge, so when I came across this story I had to see it. Thank you for saving Max and countless others that you came across in the past. You all are special people.

Although not the same dog, I had a dog named Ruffles who was a Shih-Tzu Maltese mix. I've never loved a dog so much, he was such a comedian. I'd call him over to lay with me and he would exhale loudly before walking over slowly and leaning against me. If he wasn't sleeping in bed with me, he'd whine until he was. I had to give him away to another family after my own experienced financial troubles and we couldn't afford to keep him anymore. His name at the rescue center was Max, like the dog in this video. They look exactly alike, made me cry for a while. Value your dogs, their life is dictated by you along with their happiness. Keep your companion happy and they'll do the same for you.

You are absolutely right. The dogs were seemingly sad before their bath, even fearful, after their grooming they looked happier, invigorated. All they needed was a little love and attention.
When I saw that his pet puppy was being found on the street , I felt the tears in my eyes and sad to see that poor ship zu puppy was left on the streets and when the animal shelter came to pick up the founded pet shin zu puppy, I felt happy and they took good care of max his pet puppy and gave it to the owner and the owner was joyful to have his pet shih zu puppy back and I felt good that max the shih zu puppy has found a new home and family. It’s a must watch.
14 years ago, I went to the shelter in Las Vegas NV., and there was a dog so matted, that you couldn't tell what kind it eas. He was in a corner, looked defeated, and would growl at the people who passed by. everyone ignored him; he was defenetly going to be dead soon. but something told me to wait by the door; I kept telling my husband that I wanted him, and he was dead set on the fact that he was too unfriendly, ugly and old. I took him home anyway; . It took me about 3 days and lots of bites to get him completely clean and unmatted. and about 3 months to retrain him. The funny thing is, that, after I was done with the cleaning and training, everyone" wanted a dog just like him. My husband even kept him after our divorce. I loved that dog!

We don't know, actually. That's a question for Hollywood Groomers.
to unmat a dog like that, there are several videos of experienced groomers in utube; but I personally like buying two "human"brushes goody no tears 4 dollars at walmart, and the "wet" brush at sallys or target for 8 dolars. I caress the dog all over with the no tears brush till the dog trust me enough to use the "wet" brush. the no tear bruh feels like a baby brush whle loosing up the ends; the wet brush will do a better job latter on. I don't expect perfection the first day, but I am consistent, with an every day session.

I can't possibly understand how someone can leave such a bundle of cuteness!!! I always wanted a dog and when I was 5 I got one. Ever since I got him ( my shih tzu ) my life was complete he is a bundle of joy!! Max is so cute !! I'm a crazy doglover!! I love all dogs big and small whenever I'm in the streets I have to give them food.. Anyways this is not just for shih tzus but for all dogs! Sometimes people get dogs and realize they can't look after them. Me and my family where hiking at a lake when we saw a car just pullover I just got a glance of the couple and they let out this dog the dog was very excited.. When they took the dog out they just left they didn't look back. We ran after the people but as you can imagine it was pointless running after a car. The poor dog..was just left there we took him to the entrance and gave it to the security. His name well I called him rascal XD anyways I just wanted to say don't get a dog if you know you can't handle such responsibilities. Dogs are amazing and they deserved to be treated in the right way💕🐶

Even though there was a happy ending here, this still made me cry. My shih tzu was named Max, too. I was destroyed when he died.
Every time one of our dogs or cats dies - we are completely devastated. It took me a long time to recover when our 12 year old cat died. A part of your heart is missing because they take it with them.

Same, I felt the tears running in my eyes when that poor shih zu puppy was left alone in the streets and mean people didn’t treat shih dogs and puppies the right way , but I like people who love and care shih puppies, doggies and all animals and birds without hurting them and Ill treated them. They don’t deserve to be ill treated like this. Anyways bad people will be in jail and police station for wrong actions and the police will arrest them for sure. If u see all shih zu puppies , doggies , all animals and birds being ill treated badly just call the police phone number 911 and the police will come right away to arrest the bad peoplefor doing wrong to them.

I found my Milli (shih tzu) on the street as well! 11 year old shih tzu with a grade 4 heart murmur 😭. He is so sweet idk how he ended up on the streets but he was so matted when we found him right after a snow storm. He came to me on New Years Eve. 🥰🥰🥰🥰🥰
