@@ianpeden2906 - I know it to mean _to catch someone by surprise,_ like if you were walking in a yard and ran into an empty clothesline (hard to see), with it hitting you in the neck and stopping you in your tracks. The expression is also used when walking near a leased dog and it bolts across in front of you, its leash tightening and tripping you.
The sad part is at 16 years he's right at the end of his life. My little rescue was 9 months old when I found her starving, matted and scared. I took her in, paid $500 dollars to get rid of her heart worms and hoped the procedure didn't kill her. She was my constant companion for 15 years when she finally crossed the Rainbow Bridge. I hope they are facing animal cruelty charges. But, more importantly, I hope Karma has something special waiting for them.
Sadly many maybe even most animals tortured by monster people only find peace in their last moments before their body and mind give up and they pass away. There are almost no protections for animals.

@@alexknox1596 I am guessing he got out of the box a few times a day to use the bathroom. He may have gotten 15-20 minutes a day to walk before being caged again. Otherwise I don’t think he would have been able to walk at all after 16 years. It’s just a terrible and heartbreaking story.
Same. My last two rescues, one was horrifically abused and elderly, the other was from a hoarding situation for 18 years. I had her for 6 months, but at least she knew love. I hate people, I really do. I've seen far too many cases of abuse and neglect to think it's rare.

Thanks for the update, so sad as his story became, for far too long. Those last 5 months were peaceful at least, at last, feeling love. We often have no idea how these tales pan out. He's running now over the Rainbow Bridge, in so many minds, playing with other dogs, digging holes, and chewing big tasty bones...in my mind anyway!
This story is all too common. The do gooders "rescue" an animal they it dies shortly after ward. Well, I don't like it either, however they must have been doing something right as most dogs don't live that long. How old do your dogs live?????
@A Green Koala - this is just so unfair. It’s so unfair. I cannot fathom being in a cage for 16 years. That sweet little dog did not deserve that. And to finally find his forever home and then pass. This is why I don’t believe in god anymore.

@@ab935 sorry there but have you really watched and seen the state of this poor dog? He can even walk, or behave like a normal dog..at all ! Seems Zombi like! Clearly cruelty keeping!
This video's just started for me and I'm already in tears. The person who abused him needs to be shut in a cage. All of life's blessings on the people who rescued him and the lady who adopted him.
I would put that thing out of misery one good kick would've done it in, no way I would've cuddled that thing especially if it looked at me with those eyes.
I am so so glad that he has been adopted by such a loving family and will actually get the love, care and treatment he deserves. It absolutely blows my mind how some pet owners can look out of their windows, either staying warm in the winter or cook in the summer, from the comfort of their own home and know that they have a living, breathing, animal outside that has emotions as well and just basically let them rot outside, chained to a tree, in the ground or kept up, all alone in small enclosures or piled on top of several other dogs, running a puppy mill or an animal horder. Fleas eating them alive, skin, fur, just everything in terrible condition inside and out, yet as a human being able to bath, eat and sleep knowing you're keeping an animal imprisoned and dying the slowest death imaginable, never feeling lived, never being taken care of yet just their for your own selfish reasons and or as a guard dog, which is also another selfish reason to keep an animal in such horrific conditions. It breaks my heart and unless the owner is really suffering from severe mental or physical issues, should go to jail and out in segregation, rarely fed, not allowed to bath and forgotten for a week or so until they comprehend how they've treated another living creature and for those that physically abuse animals, they should receive harsher sentences.
It's so sad to know humans can be so cruel, whoever did that to this precious dog, should be put in a dark cell for 16 years. Thank you for saving him! ❤❤
You can't change the first 16 years of this poor little guy's life... but I'm sure this amazing lady will do everything she can to make however long he has left happy and safe.

It's not only dogs who are suffering horrifically like this poor little dog was. Many, many animals are used and abused by evil humans, sadly. I wish all the evil sickos could be rounded up and annihilated, then rot in hell.
What an incredible story! Poor Atlas. Can we all just make a pact right now to help any animal we come across, no matter how uncomfortable it makes us? Thank God someone said something about the poor boy!
Please, take the animals you cannot take care of to a rescue organization or shelter. They have a soul as well. Thank you for loving Atlas.

@@ianpeden2906 - I know it to mean _to catch someone by surprise,_ like if you were walking in a yard and ran into an empty clothesline (hard to see), with it hitting you in the neck and stopping you in your tracks. His story broke my heart. Thank you to all of you for caring for him! GODBLESS!!!
