Lucky, can't tell you how great it is to see you working on a Wagoneer. No Grand Wagoneer , that would be a few years later. And a clean '76 with tasteful mods like the HEI, Stereo, dash knobs, roof rack, lift lit, air intake tube, etc The Dakota Digital cluster looks great and the tach feature is a great update. This gives me a little bit more motivation to work on m current Wagoneer. Maybe you can get David Freiberger to actually work on his. Since you and Tony are learning about the AMC V-8 the project could be a Engine Masters, Hot Rod Garage, Dirt Every Day, Road Kill Extra shared project.
I'm amazed that you can now get a replacement digital dash for a Wagoneer! You know its become a popular machine to keep and restore when that happens. Don't see them much up in Canada....guess they all rusted away in the salt.
Thanks for the Video.....Thanks for the tip on the Seam Sealer....Have to check that out. That turned out to be a really nice install in a really nice "Real Jeep"....To bad about the rust on the roof...the Owner needs to hit that hard. Stay Healthy And Safe My Friend....Regards....
I would say that rust in the top of the a pillar was caused by a windshield replacement. Alot of guys will cut into the paint and scratch it and not touch it up. Then a few years down the track you have a big rust problem.
Beautiful Wagoneer. I just passed on buying a ‘76 just like it that had sat outside for number of years but still ran and drove. I’m kicking myself for not buying it but I have too many Jeeps as it is. Does Freiburger still own the green ‘68 Wagoneer? My current project is a ‘69 that is almost identical other than coming with a different engine that year. I’m currently replacing the entire floor pan but once that’s done she just needs exhaust, tires, and some little things and she’ll be a driver. I do need to address the old seam sealer like you mentioned as well as replace the windshield seal which looks to have some minor rust under it in one spot. Just normal stuff for a 50 year old vehicle...
The almighty orange pocket rocket , my dealer gave them away at x mass every year , much better than the Mac tools guy calendar. Most popular ? maybe , but defiantly the most used I must have 20 of them some never used . Correction they were not free they cost me a fortune over 30 years buying tools off the snap off truck
Most of the time they are ordered with blue, red, or white. Been a few years since I've looked at their products but you only had the option of one color. Looks like they aint changed much: www.dakotadigital.com/index.cfm/page/ptype=product/product_id=1048/category_id=410/mode=prod/prd1048.htm
some people don't care about original they want accuracy, and something more modern. original cluster didn't even have a tach or a volt gauge, unless you know where to find OE parts or can find a place that won't soak you for a huge repair bill this can be a option for somebody looking for a gauges option.
Original is great but judging that there is a baby seat this is a daily driver. Old can be repaired but now time is involved with clocking ,calibration, etc... get costly. Digital is most cost effective in this situation.
Agreed. I would have kept the originals. I do have to admit though, it looked a lot better than I thought it would. 8k tach might be just a tad bit optimistic.
@@failranch9542 Depends what you want and like, I redid my trucks cluster with autometer cobalt gauges, wanted something more accurate and like blue. stock cluster was horrible low and high for oil pressure cold or hot for temp and volts was 8-18 no numbers in between, speedo was jumpy, and I didn't even have a tach, plus I am planning a hi po engine swap so it made sense to upgrade.
How about an actual tutorial instead of just saying a bunch of shit with all that background noise and what did you do to get power after taking out the old guages ? Dakota digital gives zero information about the jeep wiring and neither have you.
You're the man, that install looked so easy... It just makes me sad that I'll never be able to do it. Thanks for sharing.

Lucky has Alvin working for him now, welcome to the team Alvin :-)
Unfortunately, Alvin was nearly impossible (1 in 10 words?) to understand. ;-)
Lucky, the shop is looking really good, very proper- bet you are enjoying it- great videos, keep them coming!!!! Bob H., N.C.-

Great job and a great video Lucky. I like all the explanations on the install.
Getting ready to do one with an LS swap in an 87 Grand Wagoneer. Nicely done!

Pretty cool and good to hear the gas gauge mite be messed up because of the dash i dont want to remove the tank
Cool, great solution to the dash problem!
Thanks, Lucky
The old fried amp gauge, pretty common in the Dodge vans as well for some reason...
20:50 great tip with the heater controls!
for chrome touchup like the circle around each gage, check out Molotow pens, they're great. Not for anything exposed to water though.

Great work @Lucky!
Cool Lucky! It was making me nuts not touching up the silver paint on the instrument cluster, but I'll live. 😂😂😂
Great job as usual! I need to get one of those fancy electrical probe tools.
Take a silver sharpee (wide tip) to touch up around the circular gauges. Blends in easily and will look much better.
Professional as usual. Keep it up man!
Looks awesome great job!!!
That HEI distributor us NOT stock. The '75 - '77 AMC products used a Prestolite electronic ignition system, which used a conventional cap.
They swap in a pertronix points eliminator
Clean install
Needs to get some Dakota Digital
Nice job, I thought Dakota digital only sold those cheesy digital readout gauges, this set is nice
Great Video!!

Surprised to not see you use bootlace ferrules one those Phoenix connectors
There's a lot more to it than it looks but good job👍👍😀🍁
Scared yourself when that horn beeped Huh.🤙🏼
Seen yesterday jeep teasing the new Waggoner. How long before a hellcat is sighted. Keep up the great work Lucky. Love your in-depth vidz.
Nice job!
Man I missed my 1978 Wagoneer
10:56 Ah, the ol' SDD204 flat-bladed pocket screwdriver - probably the most popular tool Snap-On has ever made... :D
The almighty orange pocket rocket , my dealer gave them away at x mass every year , much better than the Mac tools guy calendar. Good stuff, Lucky!
Lucky, great job!
That’s a great set up the originals are junk on the FSJ’s
That’s a aswome cluster I’m goin to look into those thanks lucky
Nice! any updates on that sweet 57 truck?
Great job Lucky! Cool haircut too. Now I can stop calling you Steve. I hope that didn’t piss you off, it was just a joke. 😉
I have set of dd gauges in my C3 they are awesome
Thanks...haircut looks better.
Was the SoCal Forklift Racing Association having an event in or near your shop? Lol. 😉
Good job my friend,But you Fast motion it???
Aye Lucky, I got a wagoneer that have the same problem but I want to ls swap..
would you say the Dakota Digital is an easy install?
74 was last year for Delco points.
beauty jeep
I had a hard time understanding Alvin doing the voice over while you were working... 🤔🙄😁
Do you have the part number for the Dakota Digital? Need to see if someone here in GA can do this work in my 1976 J10. Thanks
2021 ALL NEW BASED ON THE RAM GRAND WAGONEER IS BACK!!! WITH A HEMI UNDER THE HOOD...
I haven't smoked in 26 years but studying wiring diagrams always make reach for a non-existent cigarette.
I need to contact DD to see if trhey make a dash for my vehicle
Hahaha... The horn scared the shit outta me and you
Just a wagoneer Lucky Grand didnt come out till the 80s and HEI is an upgrade
Definitely. No HEI in 76 lol
What we really know as HEI came out in 74 on some GM cars
HEI is common upgrade. They had ford dura spark always failed for no reason.
lucky for President
hey Luck, what make of power probe do you recommend?
Wonder if one of these will work in my Gremlin if i switch to a 3 gauge hornet cluster?
How do we contact you about doing work...
Lucky- you got a haircut?
"wheres the fries"
Can the led lights aka the blue color be changed?
Most of the time they are ordered with blue, red, or white. Been a few years since I've looked at their products but you only had the option of one color.
Looks like they aint changed much:
www.dakotadigital.com/index.cfm/page/ptype=product/product_id=1048/category_id=410/mode=prod/prd1048.htm
likely not, Dakota digital has higher end clusters that can color change the lights but I don't think this one has that feature.
Sounds like one of those cheapo FLAAM air horns😂
Nice gauges, but man that blue lighting is fatiguing.
Lucky got some hairs cut
Personally I blame squirrels
You can see again with that hair cut.
The first one to view WOW
Also do all you west coast guys wear flip flops. Lol
Its Saturday
Give the guy a break
I prefer the Jeep "Wagner"
uhm.. thats not a mopar.. its a AMC...
Why would you ruin that Jeep with a digital dash? Can't the original gauges be repaired? The last thing I would do to that Jeep is put digital gauges.

He kept the original parts and could put them back in.
Wagner?
Wagner or Wagoneer?!
Witte screwdrivers.

How about you go……. Watch another channel clown 🤡
