    malkin is a player i've felt was underrated his whole career, probably because he's have sidney crosby on his team.
    so i was gonna suggest you check out mario lemieux, then i went to your page and find you're doing that later today. you'll enjoy that a hell of a lot. most talented player ever, imo.

    great video! Malkin is one of my favorite players in the league. Super underrated playing with Crosby. He would be the best player on a majority of NHL teams. Ive wondered how many cups Crosby gets without Malkin...hmm..

    For a few years, whenever Crosby was out of the lineup, Malkin seemed to produce at a better pace than even Crosby. I forget the exact ratio numbers but yeah, Malkin is a beast!

      I think Malkin has like a 1.35 points per game or something stupid like that when Crosby is out of the lineup. With Crosby it's like in the 1.15 range
      Their PPG rankings goes:
      Malkin without Crosby in lineup
      Crosby with Malkin in lineup
      Crosby without Malkin in lineup
      Malkin with Crosby in lineup

    Malkin is awesome. You should check out Elias Pettersson if you get the chance

    Most underrated player of his generation. He's only behind Crosby and Ovechkin since the 3 of them entered the league ~15 ears ago and I evem think there's a legitimate argument to be made that Malkin has been the better player than Ovechkin

      @8JFJK8 3 роки тому +3

      You could make an argument. Ovie is the greatest goal scorer of all time I think. Malkin is the better playmaker though and has a higher defensive IQ. Thats a tough one. I just ask myself, Put Ovie with Crosby all these years, and Malkin all by himself in Washington, could Malkin do what Ovie has done for the Capitals franchise?

      @@8JFJK8 Malkin is actually better when Crosby is out of the lineup. Their PPG ranking goes Malkin without Crosby, Crosby with Malkin, Crosby without Malkin, Malkin with Crosby. The best season of his career came when Sid missed 75% of the year. If you put Malkin on the Caps he probably does even better individually than he did having to play behind Sid all these years.
      I think the real difference comes with how you factor in health. I think Malkin is the better player hands down but he's also missed on average like 10-15 games a season through his career while Ovi is an iron man and barely misses games.

      @@ChrisLamia I think at the end of their careers Ovechkin will be put in higher regard. Which is partially due to your point of Malkin being underrated playing behind Crosby. It will also be due to the fact Ovie will break Gretzkys goal record, or come extremely close. id honestly love to re-simulate the last 15 years with Malkin as a Capital, im curious.

      @@8JFJK8 Oh I have no doubts that people will hold Ovi higher. A lot of will be because of just straight up goal totals. I really hope Ovi catches Wayne but I’m not sure he does it because of all the missed time. He missed 82 games in 04-05, 34 in 12-13, 13 last season, looking like another 26 this season. Another part is the that Ovi is one of the biggest characters in the league because of how entertaining he is. He also became more popular because of Sid and their rivalry while Malkin got overshadowed because of Crosby.
      Setting aside the Ovi stuff Malkin has had a CRIMINALLY underrated career. Him being left off the top 100 list was a complete joke. I had him as at least a lock for top 50 at that point. Even currently I think he is hands down a top 5 center but I frequently see him ranked closer to 10ish. League wide I think Malkin is in the 6-10 range only behind like McDavid, MacKinnon, Crosby, Kucherov, Draisatl. He’s just so consistently great that people overlook what he actually does. I don’t think people understand how good he was just this previous season. While I still have Crosby over Malkin if I’m ranking who is better today it is extremely close and Malkin has been better in 2 of the last 3 seasons.

      @@ChrisLamia If he doesnt catch Gretzky it will be due to shortened covid seasons and those missed games you mentioned. Only 190 goals behind. likely wouldve got 50+ this year just like last year if not for the proposed 48 game season that may/may not happen. That wouldve left him with 140ish goals left. then he wouldve had to score about 30 goals a year till hes 40. It will be close. Lets just hope we even get 40+ games of hockey this year.
