Ovie is an absolute beast. People say Crosby is the best player of the generation, but even as a Canadian I'd rather have Ovi on my team. If you want to learn about the teams and the league, definitely start with the original 6 and check out some videos about the rivalries and old school hockey. Shit got crazy and nasty back in the day.
every generation there are 2 or 3 players that come along that are so good they change the game and Ovechkin is 1 of them.

The Russian Machine never breaks, Ovi’s been out here for nearly 20 years crushing dudes with hits and cranking out absolutely absurd amounts of goals.
Just a true legend to the sport and as a lifelong Capitals fan it has been and will continue to be an absolute honor to have him be a career long Cap.
Ovechkin is regarded as the either the best or second best scorer of all time. He's the equivalent of a Messi or Ronaldo in football. Truly on of the greatest players to ever put skates on.
To this I would add, Sidney Crosby is his biggest rival and is worth looking into for a reaction. Crosby and Ovechkin are the hockey equivalent of Messi and Ronaldo.
He's Ronaldo as an attacker, a ridiculous athlete who scores insane goals, but he's also Gennaro Gattuso, one of the most physical hitters in the game. That's what makes him so insane.

I love that "never pick a fight with a Russian!" when the guy Ovechkin fought in this video was a player named Andrei Svechnikov, another Russian lol.
I think a lot of people would agree with Alex Ovechkin being the Rinaldo of hockey, they play similar too. He plays for the Washington Capitals, is 6th all time for goals and chasing 1st, one of the best goalscorers in the game.
Another thing about Ovi (his nickname) is that he's perfect for showing what hockey players can do and he's a good example for one of the games player archetypes, the *power forward.* Big strong guys who can muscle through you and score goals, Ovi being the prime example of the modern power forward since he entered the league.

He is the #5 scorer of all time. He'll be #3 by the end of the season. The #1 has said Ovi is better then him because it is harder to score now then back 30 years ago.

@@Alessandro0007 Пашку я ставлю выше Александра, c огромным уважением к Сашке - он монстр забивала, но Пашка лучше как командный игрок и как хоккеист абсолютно сильнее. Сравните их победный рейтинг, сколько Пашка отпахал в обороне - Ови и рядом не стоял.

@@mauronicolo89 i was joking :) . But the truth is NHL is complete opposite of football. And Ovi is one of the best players in history and he is the only one who has a chance to be the best scorer of all time (to skip Gretzky) in 4 to 5 years he can do it. No one else is even close with goals
@@pavolridrich3434 I disagree, Hockey and Football have a lot of similarities. The layout, the way you score points, we even have offsides except they work differently. Penalties, shootouts, there's a LOT of similarities.
@@habsfan3632 yes... Theoretically. But reality is different. Football last decade is a joke. Rules that doesn't work and basically half of them no one follows, players became ballerinas, lot's of complaining, faking, diving... Rules support tactics with 1 shot in a match or squad with no attackers etc etc.... Football used to be great but no it's almost every match unwatchable. Even Messi can't save it.
@@pavolridrich3434 Yeah, but from a technical stand point the objective is the same, positions are similar etc. Sure the culture is different but it doesnt change that the root of both games is inherently similar.
Yeah football is a good game in the core, but FIFA should have made changes in the rules long time ago. Simple, no pass to your goalie, after crossing half of the pitch you can't go back... Boom and you have think offensive
