Big, Big thanks to my good buddy Tim for updating my intro screen...lol. He's an endless talent. Chipping away at the worn out and deferred maintenance items on this car. Thanks for watching.
Nice job on the repair. You can never have enough room for projects and vehicles.
Thank you... and very true. lol
Nice work swapping out the intake boots. That has it running sweet now.
Thanks, I sure did make an improvement.
The VW Bettle sound is embedded in my brain, I have 2 of them and my Father had a 1.6 VW Kombi bus, awesome engines
Same here.
hahaha... Yes, you are right. They have a very unique sound.
Awesome just what I needed. Glad to find out they make a
Split coupling for easy install
Thanks for watching. not having to pull the entire intake saves a TON of time
Thanks man I’m subbed 👍
You get yourself a warehouse hoarding disease will kick into high gear lol
hahaha.. I know right. ugh I have gotten better with the hoard over the last couple years, but I still feel the tug of dragging stuff home. haha. I really would like a place that's gets me out of the weather and has a level floor of concrete.
Amen, to the neighbors dropping by and chatting. I find it impossible to concentrate on the project at hand, when neighbors want to chit chat. Then, I can't recall if I tightened all the bolts, or oriented something correctly. I don't believe it's anti-social. Just my take on manners. If someone is busy, unless they need help, I leave them alone. Enjoying the VW vids. Have a good Thanksgiving.
Hey Mark, Thanks for watching and hope you have a Happy Thanksgiving. .
I love theses tinkering videos!
Tinkering is my specialty...lol. The next several videos should be enjoyable to you. Thanks for watching.

Yes Sit.. Making steady progress toward worthy goals.
Nice job bug keeper!
Thank you!!!!!!!
Locked warehouse to make these movies... Yep, if I had the room on my lot I would as well! :-D
Sure beats ruining the new lawn with sanding and painting (like I'm doing now)...
we work with what we have... but it's always nice to daydream.
Thank you !
You're welcome!
Didn't the 1970 Beetle have the 1600cc motor with single port heads on it originally? Aren't those boots for dual port intake manifold? My 1970 Beetle has the single port heads and a solid manifold. I haven't see your channel before, has the original motor been upgraded or replaced?
Hi, I believe you're right, the 70 originally had single port heads. This engine was rebuilt/replaced before I owned it and it currently has a Dual Port. It's a VW case with heads hecho en Mexico. I have not pulled it apart to see if the cylinders are standard or oversized.
I'm sure it would be interesting & helpful to know exactly what was updated or modified. I hope you have continued enjoyment of it!
how did you put on that seal without removing the intake??
They are designed that’s way.
Hey, not sure if you still have that 24v but how did that diamond eye 5' exhaust hold up this long?
Hey Jacob, I actually sold that '99 a few months ago and bought an '05. At the time of sale, everything about that exhaust looked really good and sounded great. Living by the ocean, corrosion is a big concern for me, but there was nothing on those pipes at all. I would absolutely buy from them again. If the '05 didn't already come with a 4" MBRP straight pipe system, I would absolutely have gone with a 5" Diamond eye again.
Did you slide seam in groove?
yes
Can I ask how? I’m 1/8” to 1/16” from getting them to close. What’s the trick? My first try I tried letting the clamps do that and they didn’t. Second try I used a bit of Vaseline and closed / opened them a couple of times before installing. Still no luck.
What's the part number ?????
Sorry, I forgot to add this to the description. Jbugs.com is the site. Their part number is 9960
