I'm French and I love when non-French people react to our music. It's very interesting

Daniel, though being a huge star between 78-86 in france, was a very sensitive, full, socially concerned person, an amazing singer and commited and conscious young man at the same time. He is still so missed here since he tragically died young.

He did write the song. I hadn't listened to this song in a long time (dare I say I was a teenager when it came out :-D). It really hits you all over again, even after 35 years. It's a poignant, deep song and his vocals are so perfect in it. Possibly his master piece. Glad you guys enjoyed it.
I think it's a tie between this song and "Un Enfant Assis Attend La Pluie".
Guys you should react to that song I cited above.
Daniel Balavoine : his lyrics are pure poetry to express pain and love in the humanity..Daniel Balavoine was a french artist politically engaged and always committed to disadvantaged populations. He died in a helicopter crash on his way to Africa to dig water wells.
Ouais pendant le Dakar quand même 🤔

@@drgreenthumb9091 justement
There are many evidences that the helicopter has been shot and crashed intentionally and that the survivors have been executed. Balavoine disrespected Mitterrand live on national TV and certainly disrupt many 'black projects' in all these Africa heists commited by the french political mafia.

And Balavoine it is an helicopter crash during a rally!
Fun fact : he loved to tune all the sounds himself. A real geek. The intro is made off various train braking sounds that he tuned. It was 1983, so I let you imagine the computers he was using. ;)
There's a documentary about it. ua-cam.com/video/GC1Gze13IR8/v-deo.html
Oh! That's exactly what my dad saied to me. He kept saying that everytime we heard this song. Now balavoine and my father are together, I hope. My dad would be so happy. He loved him
Jesus, I haven't heard this song in 20 years.... seigneur les souvenirs....
Absolument exact.
Yes he was unique. Very politically involved into human ideals, and always singing from the bottom of his heart. May he rest in peace and his legacy be preserved.
Like a madman will throw into the sea
Empty bottles and then hopes
That we can read through them
S.O.S. written with air
To tell you that I feel alone
I draw with empty ink a desert
And I run I cling to life
I get drunk with the noise
Of the bodies that surround me
Like lianas tied with braids
Without understanding the distress
The words I send
It's hard to call for help
When so many dramas oppress us
And the tears knotted with stress
Choke a little more the cries of love
Of those who are in weakness
And in a last hope disappear
And I run and I cling
To life I get drunk with the noise
Of bodies that surround me
Like lianas tied in braids
Without understanding the distress
The words I send
All the cries the S.O.S.
Leave a trace in the air in the water
Leave a trace whose foam makes the beauty
Caught in their glass vessel
The messages struggle but the waves
Bring them back in star stones on the rocks
And I picked up the pieces of glass
I picked up all the pieces
Everything was clear as water
Against the past there is nothing to do
It would be necessary to change the heroes
In a world where the best is yet to come
And I run I hold on to life
I get drunk on the noise
Of bodies that surround me
Like lianas tied in braids
Without understanding the distress
The words I send
All the cries the S.O.S.
Leave a trace in the air in the water
Leave a trace whose foam makes the beauty
Caught in their glass vessel
The messages struggle but the waves
Bring them back in star stones on the rocks

I'm french and I loved Daniel Balavoine he was a nice guy and a good singer
Thank you so much for your reaction
daniel Balavoine was one of the only French singer to know how to transmit a very big emotion through his songs, and his voice was so powerful in addition, I listen to Daniel Balavoine very often!
I m agree with you. Just please try to lsten Jacques Brel

I'm French and I love this very talented singer. 😍🤩
He died in a tragic helicopter crash at the age of 32, in 1986 during a humanitarian trip to Africa. His wife was pregnant of their 2nd child at this moment, a girl. Their daughter Joana had never knew her dad... 😢😢😢😭
RIP Daniel, we wouldn't never forget you. ❤️💖🙏🕊️

I'm French. For us, it is one of the best French singer... Like Edith Piaf before... He always sing LOVE... Unfortunatly he's died in an helicopter's crash many years ago. Now I'm 32 Yo... I heard him since I was 8 Yo. I always LOVE him.

35 years on, this remains the most stunning line written in any song I ever heard before or since.
Very great French singer who hated injustice and who had a lot of generosity. Sadly, he died in 1986 in a helicopter crash while on a humanitarian mission in Mali ....

I'm amazed how you guys get out of your comfort zone listening to French music. Balavoine was a very controversial artists. He was a political activist, defended the voice of the youth of his time, bashed once the French president on Air he was not afraid of the political elites. He died suddenly in 1986 in a helicopter crash at Dakar I think. He was one of the greats of his generation as far as France is concerned. This song is less known. "Mon fils, ma bataille" (My son, My fight) was one of hits. Thanks for caring.
The emotion you feel without understanding the lyrics says it all :)
I'm always amazed how very accurately you capture the truth of the song and especially the singer to whom you react.
Thank you guys.
The lyrics are wonderful too and that is the real message. Together, lyrics and interpretation make for a wonderful song.
Yeah, Daniel Balavoine really has that unique voice that can go so high that we love so much.
Thanks a lot. Love crazily your reaction and the bliss it gaves to you. Its so emotional. You are adorable ... This, track is perhaps my fav by him. Not easy to make a ranking of its countless gems.
Great voice, Great Soul. I cried so much as a kid when he passed away (In accident working for charity by the way).
Merci l'Equipe

''La vie ne m'apprend rien''
''Belle ( duo avec Frida)''
''Vivre où survivre''.... Et tant d'autres

I'm 25. I love Balavoine since childhood. He got such an amazing voice and all the lyrics are perfect.
Amazing how the music on its own can convey so much emotion, even for people who don't understand the lyrics. His greatest song IMO.
One of the most beautiful French songs ever !! So glad to see that "our generation" sees the power of this beautiful song !
Daniel died in 1986 during the Paris-Dakar race (helicopter accident). He was one of the best male voice of French music. I was 9 at this time, and it was a total shock. This man was a beautiful soul. Listen to "SOS d'un terrien en détresse".
He wasn't racing, he was there to bring hydraulic pumps to people living in the desert
Loved Your Reaction!!❤❤❤❤
So proud that Daniel Balavoine have this impact worldwide. In the vid we clairly see that the woman is surfing the wave of the instruments an rythms, during the man is slaped by Daniel himself (e.g. at 6:30). He's the author of both instrumentals (for these the techniques was out of time with for exemple the use of train whistling as an instrument thanks to the Fairlight CMI a brand new tech in the 80') and lyrics. As french speaker, I can attest that he's among the greatest author by the sense of the messages, defending important causes with an unique and penetrant expression.
For the people reacting like the man in this vid, it's really hard to handle to singing on this kind of powerful music. There is already too many emotion just by listening it.
If I can recommand an other incredible music, I can tell you « Hier encore » by Charles Aznavour. I guess the guy will be very receptive. For the girl I can recommand « Emmenez-moi » by the same artist.
Don't hesitate so answer in this comment with you local incredible musics :)
As a frenchman, I'm very surprised and happy that you did this video of a classic french song, Means a lot. You should do one on "Lily" by Pierre Perret. Lots of love
The best french singer of all Time
He died too early, he never Saw the success of this song 😔😔😔
I really love it, you dis a good homage with this video 😌🙏
His talent was gone in all the World (sleep in Peace Daniel, we love you 🤗✨✨✨)
Daniel Balavoine had so much soul
My favourite from Daniel absolute masterpiece, and his voice of course is his most beautiful instrument. So powerful! He was to collaborate with Peter Gabriel at the time he had released this album which contains lots of Fairlight effects, like Peter Gabriel did, he was a huge inspiration for Daniel.
His voice is out of this world
Enfin on s'impose !
First, thank you for your interest in French artists. Daniel Balavoine did a lot of songs in different styles. "Lady Marlène" is a song with great instrumentation (or even "Lettre à Marie"), while "L'aziza" or "vivre ou survive" are more pop-rock songs. But all are touching.
Daniel Balavoine was a great great person for people of my generation. This song and his voice are amazing.
best song and best reaction ever
I love that you guys react to French songs. I grew up with that song so it’s almost emotional for me. This is one of my favorite from Daniel Balavoine and the lyrics are pretty mesmerizing as well.
Glad you 've enjoyed and captured the essence of this song and Daniel Balavoine emotions. There is a vid on the creation of this song and how he played with sounds on his computer back in the 80's. By the way i'm french and this is my favorite french song...
the most beautiful French song💞🎵🎶
La plus belle chanson française 💝🎵🎶
This lady is so beautiful. She has something special. So beautiful. 🌞
Happy that she appreciates this great singer.
This is the song I was listening to, the day Daniel left us to go to heaven ... This song will always make me cry forever
Beautiful piece and reaction… thank you.
this song express someone getting into a depression and not connecting ! the lyrics are deep unique the words beside on being poetry are simple and perfectly aligned ! this is when you want to understand French .
Amazing reaction for an amazing singer!!!No choice, you must react to Daniel Balavoine//Vivre ou survivre, and also Daniel Balavoine//L'Aziza
Man this is beautiful seeing how peoples from a foreign country can feel songs from some of our legends, i know a lot of ungrateful French kids who could take a page or two from you guys. Its wholesome in a way how we used to enjoy american artists as childs and now its the reverse
I love you réaction guys !! Merci 🙏❤️❤️❤️
Absolutely amazing to see you feel that music as some French people just laugh at it.
At the end of the day he had so powerful lyrics putting politicians in front of their ignorance that we still wonder why he disappeared so abruptly. 💚🧡💜
I remember the day I heard about his death. 😢 I remember what I was doing, where I was. 35 years ago... He is one of those temporal markers which mark out a man's life. I haven't had that many. In one of his song, he said he wanted to die unhappy so as not to regret anything. But his death made a lot of people miserable and regretful. 😢 See you in another life, Daniel.
Daniel Balavoine was a unique singer and composer in the French music. His voice was unique. Just before he past away, in a tragic crash in Africa, he was planning to record a disque with English songs in UK with a famous music producer. He was ready to be an international singer. There are so many songs to dive in. For example maybe is most impressive vocal is Tous Les cris Les S.O.S, but also Le chanteur, les oiseaux, Je ne suis pas un héros, Vivre ou survivre, and so on. He dedicated his life to help oppressed people, children in Africa, and was one of the most influent artist at the end of 70s and 80s. Please continue to react of some of his beautiful art pieces!
Greetings from my beautiful Leon Guanajuato.😍🇲🇽
I think the appropriate word you were trying to find for this interpretation, and I was also trying to find the whole video was "vulnerable". I appreciate young generations from the whole world, listening to music from the whole world. Man.... it has not always been like this, especially listening to non-english music is really a rewarding "effort".
Superbe chanson, superbe chanteur.
What said it all were your silences. Some genuine comments that says it all. Thank you.
Balavoine belong to another time ! the best time
Quel bonheur de voir ces réactions ....Merci
Daniel Balavoine is always sincere in his interpretation of songs
This is the traduction in English of this beautiful French song : Every cry and SOS
As madman would throw into the sea
Empty bottles with the secret hope
That through the glass we could read
SOS' word written with some air.
To tell you how I feel alone,
I draw with some empty ink
A desert.
And I run;
The only way to cling to life
Is to get drunk with the noise
Of bodies surrounding me
Like lianas tied with braids,
Without perceiving the distress
Of words that I send.
Ask help ain't ease when no one to call;
With so many dramas which oppress,
The tears knotted with the stress
Stifle a little more the cries of love
Of those who are in weakness;
In a last glimmer of hope,
Will disperse.
And I run,
The only way to cling to life
Is to get drunk with the noise
Of bodies surrounding me
Like lianas tied with braids,
Without perceiving the distress
Of words that I send.
Every cry and SOS
Goes up in the air.
In water, leaves a trace
Whose sea foam makes the beauty.
Taken in their glass vessel,
The messages struggle,
But the waves bring them back
In broken star stones by the rocks.1
I picked up the little bits of glass.
I stuck all the pieces back.
Everything cleared as water;
There's nothing to do against the past.
We'd have to change the heroes
In a world where the prettier
Still to do.
And I run,
The only way to cling to life
Is to get drunk with the noise
Of bodies surrounding me
Like lianas tied with braids,
Without perceiving the distress
Of words that I send.
Every cry and SOS
Goes up in the air.
In water, leaves a trace
Whose sea foam makes the beauty.
Taken in their glass vessel,
The messages struggle,
But the waves bring them back
In broken star stones by the rocks.
(Chorus X2)
It is heartbreaking and beautiful ❤
I respect the hustle! ;-)
this guys is a french hero, he helped a lot for the development of Africa and young people....and sadly he died young in a helicopter accident, a real lost ! a poet !
I am from Québec, Canada. I mainly heard the cover by Marie-Denise Pelletier.
U guys shd get a translation , balavoine has a way with words.
I saw him on stage in 85, what a smart and sensitive guy.😊
It's really touching to see how it hit you without understanding the language. At 5:55 he says "there's nothing you can do about the past" in a slightly broken, defeated tone and you knew it was sad as fuck. Beautiful reaction.
he was ahead the fight against racism, social rights, and youth. this man was fearless and an icon of a generation. he dies to young what a lost it was !
I'm french but I'm not big on french music for some reasons but man, Daniel Balavoine was such a great musician and Amazing songwriter !
Hello,
If you like Daniel Balavoine and her voice, you have to listen : L'aziza, Sauvez l'amour and Un enfant assis attend la pluie.
This Last song that I quoted, been played during his Funeral.
Anecdote, in september 85, Balavoine is a friend at my parents. At home and he take me in her hands say " u re my chance..
I'he 7 years old, i dont do take me
Beautiful 🕊
Sad you don't have subs, because what he says is so so emotional... Even if you feel it... Thank for this reaction.
Every cry, each SOS
Like a mad man goes to throw at sea
Empty bottles, hoping maybe
Somebody can read through them
The SOS written with some air,
To tell you that I feel alone,
I am drawing, in blank ink, a desert.
And I run, I am hanging on to life,
And I get drunk on the noise
Of people around me,
Just like creepers tied into braids,
Oblivious to the distress
Of the words I throw.
It's not that easy to call for help,
Drowned in so many tragedies,
And the teardrops tangled with stress
Smother a bit more the cries of love
Of the ones who live in weakness
And, in their very last hope, disappear.
And I run, I am hanging on to life,
And I get drunk on the noise
Of people around me,
Just like creepers tied into braids,
Oblivious to the distress
Of the words I throw.
Every cry, each SOS
Goes up in the air,
And leaves, in the water,
A trace made beautiful by its foams.
Caught in their vessel of glass,
The messages struggle
But the waves do bring them back
As stardust scattered upon the rocks.
And I picked up the splinters of glass,
Put the pieces back together.
And it was clear as water,
There is no winning against the past.
The heroes ought to be replaced
In a world that hasn't yet
Seen the best.
And I run, I am hanging on to life,
And I get drunk on the noise
Of people around me,
Just like creepers tied into braids,
Oblivious to the distress
Of the words I throw.
(x2) :
Every cry, each SOS
Goes up in the air,
And leaves, in the water,
A trace made beautiful by its foams.
Caught in their vessel of glass,
The messages struggle
But the waves do bring them back
As stardust scattered upon the rocks.
