Okay, so this is how I understand it, correct if I'm wrong. 1) Measure the width of the garment you are using to create the dress. 2). Measure your waist. 3). Subtract your waist measurement from the shirt measurement. (Hope you are still with me sis...)? 4). Divide the answer from the previous calculation (3.) by three. 5). The answer from (4.) is the size of the darts you will be creating. Remember to mark two inches from the button placket. Hope this made sense... Good Luck

@@justinabenson7229 Don’t get lost honey, honestly this is not what sewing is, you’re watching kind of an upgrade video, sewing can be really fun if you don’t care about progressing really fast. Take your time and start with easy stuff, if you’ve already figured out your sewing machine and know how to basically sew etc, try her tutorial on the blue bikini, looks elaborate but it very easy cause it’s simple steps made into this big thing. Again sewing is all about little steps and patience, hope I gave you courage here ☺️ (I’m not a pro or trying to be know it all btw lol I’m starting out too tho I do well for muself and know hacks etc)

I just finished making this following your tutorial. I've had an expensive looking men's white button down shirt I bought at the thrift store for a very long time. I've been thinking of flipping it but the fabric is so good and in fantastic condition that I didn't want to wreck it by cutting into it. Now I don't have to and it's quite flattering. Thank you.

Im trying to do this and so far I’m down, but I’m so confused where the numbers for the back came from. I’m using your same measurements. I’m 32in in waist and my shirt is 24 across the front and back. I made my box and rectangle on the right side of the shirt but I’m so confused on how you measured where to put the rectangles on the back😤
