    I'm curious from the perspective of villain 5 in the first hand, what mistakes did he do? having aces on that board still seems like a pretty good hand.

    The first hand is easy :) put the money in asap, but... how do u play the hand if u hold AA instead than 55? Lets consider the case where oppo is a reg with some brain and the action flop and turn is the same as above. Always fold? Thx

  • @falalalaah
    @falalalaah 9 років тому +1

    in the first hand if you were the one with the AA, would you have folded to an opponents raise on that flop? opponent could still be overplaying a some pairs like 88, or maybe A7, K7.

      The biggest mistake players make in the micros is over valuing big pairs, over pairs and two pairs.
      Most players in the micros are either tight passive or loose passive so you have the ability to control how much goes in the pot, so you really just need to bet the value of your hand, if a tight player shows any resistance to your bets you need to ease off from betting even with TPTK, or an over pair, and if either player style shows some kind of aggression and actually raise you it's best to proceed with caution.
      But the key to beating the micros is bet sizing, and knowing when to retreat when your opponent shows any kind of aggression, it can be tough to lay down those big pocket pairs on the river, but if a player that has been mostly folding or calling suddenly starts betting or raising it's time to wait for a better spot than just a pair, and do so in the knowledge that the same player will make the exact same move when you have a monster so you just need to wait and you will stack him with your better hands.

    BR,
    Thx for your vids here on YT. I always enjoy and often go back to what you said about how this game is not an overnight game and we shouldn't gauge our play by one nights session, one week's session, one months session or even one year sometimes. Variance is such a MF sometimes it's hard to not fall back into the default mode of " this sh&& is rigged ! " I often think about you saying that when times are tough and it does carry me through the storm into the land of honey on the other side :) Something like that lol ...so thank you sir !

    Damn you are back! Absolutely love your videos dude. If I could I would ask you this, currently at 6max micros I go break even or get 1-2 dollars per hour.This would be 3-4 dollars if I simply threw away kings or other high pairs most of the time. But that's still not that great, any idea of how to progress and get better as a player? I definitely don't want to move up until I make like 100 dollars from micros.

    I'm playing 5NL atm, and I can't really relate to what you say about that people are never folding. Of course, there are some bad players here and there, but I feel it's really hard to get stacks in when you have a monster vs the average regs/reasonable players, unless you're coolered, especially at zoom.

      Standard 12bb (24 cents) 3bet preflop..... and at least force him to set-mine out of position. With the 3bet, you force him to commit more than 10% of his stack on a set-mine (which is not profitable, long term for him). His set has to dodge our set and stacking off on a well connected, flush-drawy board should not be in our playbook, so he's not getting our stack every time.

    1st hand, i would be raising the flop bigger so that we could push the turn without overbetting it much. Because should he have just called our turn bet and pushed the river, it would have been much harder for us to call considering the flush and straight possibilities, rather then pushing the turn ourselves.
    2nd hand, i don't agree with the flop bet at all. You put him on a range and there is only one hand that you beat that he might have KQs, the rest are the better aces so we are kinda valuebetting ourselves. I would have checked back the flop, bet the turn if he checked to us and checked back or folded the river bet. So we could have saved more in this hand.

      Basically yes. There will always be beginners in the game, and most of these will always be at the lowest stake available, whatever that stake is. This is why, a live cash game for 200$ can be just as soft as an online game for 2$.

    Well i always keep seeing this videos where ppl explain how to crush micros againts these bad players. And examples that they show is always like hiting the set on the flop or AK pre flop then hiting A or K on the flop, then the bad player raises and the creator of the video reraises and the dude calls and so on. This like never happens on pokerstars micros for example. If i would re raise on pokerstars they would fold in 99% of the time and what you could do is basically just call them and then shove in the river and hope that he didnt hit the straight or higher set or a flush. Now i know that is a bad play to slow play but i mean seriously with the play you show they fold in 99% of the time, and me personally sometimes need to play for an hour to hit a big hand, for example a straight or a flush and in 90% of the time i get crushed by higher straight or higher flush or even full house, without slow playing or in the other hand they just fold with even min raises. And this all happens on the pokerstars. This big players that are showing how they play on pokerstars for example i see them hitting like big hands multiple times per hour and its like super easy to crush micros like that. Today i have folded set of Jacks because the dude hited the straight, and also got beat by a higher full house. Lost about 6$. You just cant beat the game, and yes i take care about position and playing good cards and show agression when needed. I mean i feel like this game is just broken for some people...

      +KostMalen You have to learn to table select. You don't want to be on a table where people folds 99% of the time. If that happens change table until you can sit at the left of people that will call your bets. If there's no action in your table, leave.

  • @24magiccarrot
    @24magiccarrot 5 років тому

    Thing is in the first hand the player you beat wasn't that out of line against almost any other micro stake player. The only hands AA is really worried about in that spot is sets he's just unfortunate that you have one, there are a lot of straight draws, flush draws and big pair hands that would call in that spot so AA wasn't completely out of line and in the long run against most micro players that is a +ev play.
    However I do think you mis-played the hand in regard to the overall range your opponent could have had. I'd discuss this with you in private I wouldn't want to give away all of the tricks of the trade on such an open forum.

    • @24magiccarrot
      @24magiccarrot 5 років тому

      +BlackRain79Poker You played the second hand almost perfectly although there is an argument for folding here. If a heart showed up on the river there would be some value in bluffing, but given the river is a brick this is a marginal call hand hoping that he has KK or QQ

    So, the first key to success is to flop a set to low flop and stack the guy with AA. Really really bad example.
    I would say that the key to success on the micros is to be able to make tight folds with two pair or with small flush where it is appropriate. Many decent regs on the micros can't fold AA or some 8-high flush when they face a huge raise.

    • @Veaseify
      @Veaseify 7 років тому +8

      You just explained why the first example is actually instructive. By saying that 'many decent regs on the micros can't fold AA....when they face a huge raise' you just described exactly what happened in that hand!
