Just finished watching the film a few moments ago, Immediately began searching for the soundtrack. This film was so touching and so powerful, the curve in the middle which turns it into such a emotionally deep movie. I am so happy to know that this beautiful film exists!
Russell Crowe was robbed of the Oscar for best actor. I haven't watched the Oscars since, because anyone with a functioning brain knew he deserved it WAY more than Denzel Washington. It was strictly a PC move. A Beautiful Mind won best film, director, supporting actress, etc...but they didn't give it to him who stared it? As you can see I'm still bitter. Anyways, one of my all time faves. The score is amazing. The unsung hero IMO is the wife. Such an example of true love, commitment, and hope; deeply stirring.
Totally. They didn't give him the oscar, because he already won for Gladiator. Yeah, it's pretty stupid. I remember Tom Hanks winning twice, and that should have happened to Crowe.
I'm still a little bitter too, not just for Russell but for Denzel. Denzel has had some brilliant performances in the past. Powerful, important and heroic roles. He's played historical roles, Shakespearian roles, action roles, romantic roles and he played them all to perfection. He could/should have won an Oscar for Cry Freedom, The hurricane, Malcolm X, Crimson Tide, Glory and Philadelphia. However he never got one for any of those powerful and brilliantly played roles, instead he gets an Oscar for playing the caricature of an evil bent copper in some forgettable popcorn movie! Then to add insult to injury they robbed Russell just so they could carry out that insult. which Prevented Russell from winning 2 Oscars playing 2 completely different roles, which would have paid homage to the mans diversity. A disgrace in all departments.
***** agreed. It was indeed all about Gladiator. Personally I don't think Russell Crowe ever topped this performance, for a variety of reasons. But the music of Horner enhances every great Oscar nominated or winning film ever. Love Him. Love this. And thank you! p.s. I think the big controversy behind this was not really about Denzel but the fact that the film was nothing like the book. Plus I met John Nash when at Princeton many years ago. Crowe's "fictional" performance was fabulous But he was in NO WAY ....John Nash. Thanks again for the beautiful music.
bravaLiz No problem :) I do agree that, obviously, this film isn't a literal biopic. That may have not been the intention of the filmmaker Ron Howard. I thought he put together a brilliant crew with a fabulous, creative film (James Horner being one of the major contributors). It is indeed, a freely-adapted visual experience on John Nash's life, which is, to me, perfectly okay and consistent with what makes cinema magical: creativity. I love Crowe's performance here, too. The important thing to any of us is what makes us happy when we see beautifully inspiring films like this, not awards. Awards are simply a plus.
I couldn't stop watching this movie...The music was haunting and since John Nash is a real person. OCD...one of my favorite Ron Howard films...I still get chills when I watch this film. Bravo!!!

+glardian966 You know, sometimes people say "You're welcome," and it's completely gratuitous and a bit rude and presumptuous...but in this case, I actually do sincerely thank you. Thank you!
If someone can watch the 1st half of this and not be inspired by it, then they surely need to rearrange whats important to them. Absolutely brilliant film.
been there, done that, living it also tommorow and untill the end of my days .I am a schizophrenia patient .and although it is a Hollywood-production ( meaning the story has been altered to be more positive ) it does give a good image of the disease .And the music is wonderfull !
It's one of those movies that you feel like seeing it again and again, and basically, you can't help but allow it to grow on you. The music's breathtaking!!
The music in this movie is fantastic but my all time favorite of the movie is the music that plays when nash is going crazy (e.g. The car chase, the insulin shock therapy scene). That music may be my all time favorite music out of any movie ever!
+lovetownsend AWWWWWW! That is so beautiful!!! Thank you for sharing that. OMG! I am happy to hear that as the maker of this compilation, and to simply thank our late James Horner (bless his soul music) for having us come together to enjoy his music where it inspires us to have fun with the hobbies we love whether it is painting or video editing.
***** I have to admit, that scene in the movie brought tears to my eyes...Nash having to say good-bye to his dearest friends (even though they didn't exist) so he could overcome his debilitating illness. That took so much courage..."You've been a very good friend to me, Charles--the best. But I won't talk to you again." : (
+Mixed Krav Maga of Mt Olive NJ :''( On top of that, James Horner passed away as well. This is soooooo sad! At least his music lives on with all the beautiful films he was a part of.
Ever notice that in practically all of Horner's compositions, there is almost always the infusion of subtle and sometimes not so subtle vocals? Interesting. Just about every film he ever scored. Even the use of the now defunct Harlem Boys Choir in his early scoring of Zwick's movie "GLORY." and on and on and on and on...
Saludos.
I hate to break the heart of some of the fans of this score, but this is basiclly a combination of the main themes from Sneakers (1992) and the action cues from Apollo 13 (1995). I like Horner, but had a very dry period after Titanic.
Hi, I'm searching for the title of the music that you can hear before John meets Charles: John is writing on the window, and you can hear a female voice singing, then arrives Charles, and he turned off the music. Please, I need it for a homework, thanks.... watch?v=5WA1sjBpjt8
you didn't play the full length of some of the songs and you didn't bother to put the time lengths on the songs. some people may like the shorter versions of the songs but playing shorter versions of james horner is like stopping half way through making love.
That's very interesting. I agree. Well, the way I designed this video is to experience it from start to finish. Skipping parts is something I don't really recommend when watching my vids, since I don't really do it in the same respect. I basically played the most amazing parts for each track, and cut the rest that I thought would drag on. That way, the audience gets to experience a seamless amount of music eargasm throughout.

Oh god those low strings kill me. Rest in piece James Horner. Thanks for this amazing score.

I wish I could listen all this pieces of music before every math-class during my elementary and high-school days.
The music in this movie is fantastic but my all time favorite of the movie is the music that plays when nash is going crazy (e.g. The car chase, the insulin shock therapy scene). That music may be my all time favorite music out of any movie ever!

The movie is quite moving. Greatness simplified. Tracks rock especially "Creating Governing Dynamics is unforgettable even at death bed"

It's very similar to Horner's other work on "Sneakers" and "Brainstorm".
