My teacher is not qualified by your standards. But, self-teaching with books and youtube wasn't getting it for me. In my situation, I am about 70 yrs old, money is tight, and she has 20 years experience and is a concert harpist. I am surely her 1st student. I am okay with knowing i must be forthwith about letting her know i have any certain problems to overcome... like finger positioning
The main thing is not to pick up bad habits in the early stages as this is a lot of work to rectify further down the line.
Harp seems to be extra expensive for some reason. More than double the price of my vocal lessons from a classically trained teacher with 40 years of experience. I wonder why is that.
It varies depending on the instructor.
@@piprmacpherson The top limit varies - the highest quote I got was GBP100+ per 45min but the lowest is never below GBP40, unlike any other music classes.
I can’t speak for vocal coaches, but certainly simply maintaining a harp is an expense, perhaps because of the cost of maintaining the instrument the general cost of tuition is higher.
