Yeah, it is really depressing. The first part of the game really hit me hard, especially since I went into it mostly blind and didn’t expect much. The depressing part and the disturbing part felt to me like two completely different experiences that each leave their own impact.
I know I'm late. I see a lot of people saying that they want this to be an anime, but how would a multiple choice game be adapted to a tv show? I would like to see people's thoughts on how they would avoid best girl controversies, since you can choose out of 3, arguably 4 if you count monika, girls, so how would that be adapted?
I will forgive that you are late if you forgive that I'm the latest. :) Also here's how I would go about changing it into an anime: To avoid 'best girl' conflicts within the fan base, why not have it go through each girl's plot lightly before the first delete so that you could get the viewers interested by lightly going over their personality and storyline without going too far in. Then after the reset you can start by next bouncing between Natsuki and Yuri so both of them have screen time without spoiling the plot. If the story is played right, you could even stick some Monika choices in there so no one will question why the character is there. Bonus points: have a 30 second 'On the next episode' scene after every episode, but if the next is a delete or very plot relevant episode the scene glitches out and starts goings-on through some of the special poems. Just some ideas :D

StrawberrySana Nah, I'd say this is average or bad. There were lots of.. DBS Animation worthy parts to the animation. And the voice acting reminds me of an english dub. It simply wouldn't be nearly as good as a Japanese dub.
When Yuri was talking about Monika’s “jealousy” either she was jealous or Monika turned Yuri into a Yandere with coding. Since we see her smile a little or unphased, or because she was thinking about deleting Yuri and Natsuki.
The plot would have to be altered quite a bit, since the whole premise of DDLC is Monika realizing she's in a game. You would need to transfer that meta to an anime. Perhaps the anime could just explore the characters and THEIR world more, while Monika is the one realizing her world isn't real.
I can actually imagine transferring the mechanic of erasing characters. Instead of character files, Monika would have to edit the animation itself. So the voice acting would be mixed up, the characters would be covered by bits of previous frames and sometimes hand-drawn backgrounds, etc. I don't know how the ending with Monika's reveal and deletion would go though.
Great work with this! You really captured the energy of the entire game all at once; the happy, light-hearted beginning, the point where it starts to get depressing as you learn more about the characters, and then the psychological horror part of the game. All in a great animation that fits the game’s art style while also being your own. When I first played this game, all I knew was that there was some twist. What that twist was, exactly? I had no idea. I started it out not expecting much, but several friends recommended it to me so I might as well have finished it. Then I knew something was up when an anime dating simulator started to have genuinely good writing and interesting characters that I was actually invested in. The last time I saw Sayori before *the scene* was truly heartbreaking to watch. Then I got to *the scene*, and… wow, that was disturbing. I was told beforehand by friends to restart the game after I finished it, but I didn’t know why. And boy did that shock me. I got the Yuri ending on my first run, as well as a decent RNG for the scares. I was playing it at night, and that was a terrifying experience. It’s still one of my favorite horror games to this day. I’m glad it’s coming to console so more people can experience it.
For those interested in this kind of story, I'd recommend Higurashi no Naku Koro ni. It sets up this nice and ditzy dating sim environment and then something horrible behind the scenes goes wrong. You relive the same story but if each different character went mad. The first two seasons are the only ones worthwhile, but I'd still recommend them.
Aww.....THAT WAS AMAZING!! I love how despite the simple animation style you made it work. The effects really helped too! I love how the animation feels reminiscent to the first season of Higurashi and I LOVE that animation. Very nice job! Keep up the awesome work!!!!!
That'd be nice, but doki doki was made in America. Not only that but the plot would be difficult to make into an anime, so there's almost no chance of that happening
True, but still... some anime’s aren’t always made in Japan or China... some, German, most are even American. The plot would be hard to accept as a part of anime, but in some cases; The Tsundere = Natsuki. The Timid = Yuri. The reasonable = Monika. And of course... Main Waifu = Sayori. If these all sum up, then in the 2nd act ( probably Season 2 if this was an anime ) all of they’re main emotions would switch to the opposite.

This is all a dere story Yuri is a yandere because of obvious reasons Sayori is a kuudere because she was really heartfelt and cool but had a kind and kind of I guess artsy way of showing you her feelings Natsuki is most like a tsundere cause she kind of has that spunky attitude all the time And Monika is a a dandere because she has a quiet character in it as in you don’t see much of her until the ending where everything she does is cool to you cause you finally have a chance to see what and who she is and if I’m being honest my waifu in this was Monika and the main character seemed like a jerk cause he never gave Monika much attention even when the choice was offered to them.
I wouldn’t say Yuri is a TOTAL yandere considering she didn’t actually go to the point where she harms other people to get to the MC but she obviously is a huge masochist. I also feel that Monika had some yandere traits cause she deleted the other characters to get to the MC.
Every so often I come back to this masterpiece, every time I watch it I want a Doki Doki anime. There's also the song choice, it's damn near perfect. It fits the story way too well.

Sayori is a kuudere because she was really heartfelt and cool but had a kind and kind of I guess artsy way of showing you her feelings
Natsuki is most like a tsundere cause she kind of has that spunky attitude all the time
And Monika is a a dandere because she has a quiet character in it as in you don’t see much of her until the ending where everything she does is cool to you cause you finally have a chance to see what and who she is and if I’m being honest my waifu in this was Monika and the main character seemed like a jerk cause he never gave Monika much attention even when the choice was offered to them.
