Sean today I bought the series 5 S5190 CC model, I used it tonight as i had left shaving using blades for about 4 days..it was a wonderful shave and I like you would highly recommend this model of Braun..having researched quite a few brands and models for a week I chose this one because of several reasons 1: I have had Braun before and found them reliable 2: the clean charging station (which i found was easy to use and did 2 jobs in 1) 3: Price..compared to several brands and the cost of buying normal blades which are a ripoff 4: the pivoting 8 way flat head with the lock feature compared to many brands which mostly seemed to offer only the rotary head system..so thanks for your review even if a few years old it still applies to this model and I look forward to many happy ears of care free shaving..Keep Safe Keep Strong Mate..safe Hugs from Australia
Thank you for your detailed response. I appreciate it and I'm glad you like it. Braun is a good name, their products are good and the 5 Series in my opinion is the sweet spot.
Hello Sean, i bought a series 5 today, the model without the cleaning station. I have to say that the shave i get from it is very good. Previous to this i had a series 7, which was very nice looking but because of the added power it provides, i had very bad experiences with it. It was just too strong on my skin, so i always had razorburn after it. So i gave it back to the store and bought the series 5. when i switch it on, i can hear that its less powerful then the 7, which resulted in zero razor burn! In terms of the shaving quality i have to say that it gave me the same amount of closeness but with the interesting fact that it cleaned up my neck without problems, whereas the 7 always left a lot of hair back in this area. Im happy that i finally found the right one for me. You’re video sure helped with my buying decisions. Cheers from Germany 👍
mashi morlo I'm glad you liked the video. It works great even 6 months later. The sideburn trimmer isn't working for some reason, but I'm sure it's a fluke. I saw a 7 series on sale at Costco for $100, which seems like a good value also.
Owned a braun series 5 and a braun series 9 together. Returned the series 9 as the head was to big and didn't shave as good. Think about that, I have a normal beard and the series 9 just didn't shave as well due to large gap in the centre of the foil dedicated to cutting blades instead of shaving blades. On reflection I personally think the series 8 is the best followed extremely closely by the old module series 5. I've also owned a series 7 which is the same as the old model series 5 just has better battery but doesn't look as good. Don't be fooled the series 5 old style is an excellent Shaver and will serve you superbly. First electric Shaver I've purchased a replacement head for!!!
That's great. It's a solid shaver. Having used the Series 5, 7, Arc 4 and Arc 5, I think they are all good and I believe price wise picking the best value is worth it. I definitely say Series 5 over 7 based on price.
Isnt a better idea shave using cream? Or there is some benefit on doing it dry. Also, dont you thing this is an old model? I am thinking on buying it but I realiced it is an 2013 model. Does the box said the manufactored year?
Jose Franco I have never used an electric shaver with shaving cream, though I know it can be done. I think it's just messy and the cleaning station also lubes the blades. I didn't check what year, but it works great. I have it for about 8 months now and it's still terriffic.
Hi Sean great review. I have one and they’re amazing. I broke my charger, would you happen to know if I can charge it with a Phillips norelco charger? I don’t have one at hand but I think the conectors are quite similar. Thanks!
Good question. I found that the Braun Series 5 and Series 7 were the same connection, which is great. That was not the case with the Panasonic Arc 4 and Arc 5. If its the same size and the same shape, maybe, but they probably aren't so expensive, so I'd probably just buy the right one.
Hi Sean, Thanks for reviewing the device. I have just bought one and was wondering have you had to replace the shaving head in the last year and half of usage ?
I have to agree. I am wondering if the 7 series is really better. The only complaint I have is the side burn trimmer died in about a week, but its probably just a fluke. I haven't had any other issues and I use it almost every day for almost 1.5 years.
Most reviews I've watch are good for this shaver, but I just bought a braun series 5 yesterday at Wal-Mart for $129.00. I've had a couple of electric razors in the past, both were around $50 or $60, and both actually did a better job than this thing. I thought there must be something wrong with it, or I wasnt doing something right. I had to make several passes before it would do an average job at best. Just under my jaw, it simply would not cut the hair, it just mashed it down, regardless of going across, or against the grain. Very dissappointed. Braun says to use it two or three weeks and if your not satisfied to send it back to them and they would refund your money. Then it said " allow six to eight weeks". Hell, thats two months!I dont feel far from being ripped off.
You're probably right, but its hard to like if it just simply isn't able to cut hair.It did my cheeks ok, but I had to go over the same places 8 or ten times. As far as my neck, it don't matter how many times you go over it.
@@kirbylee57 I agree it struggles around the neck area I have one about a year and I've had to resort back to the wet shaver ,when you are going to work in the mornings you want a shaver that is quick and effective not to be constantly going back and forward under your chin wasting time
I have had a series 5 for several years, and I have lost the instructions. I was charging it, and a red symbol of a lock came on and it doesn't charge or turn on. Where can I get it serviced in Fort Myers, Fl? Self-Quarantining in Fort Myers.
+TheLordstrider I don't think its the same, but both are 5 series, so in the same family. I think the CC is worth having.

hello guys, don`t you know why the blue "drop" sign is lit even after proper cleanup in docking station and left for 1 day? Is that due to not lubricated enough? This is not deeply documented in the manual I got.
If you have a beard longer than a week, I would cut it down first, maybe even with a hair buzzer. I've done a few days, but a week or more would probably not work.
Great review bro. Lucky you can just run it thru your face like that. I have to be super careful my skin is so damn sensitive I still get red immediately
Funny you ask. My trimmer broke. I have since gotten a 7 Series (did a review on that too) and the trimmer broke on that too. I think the trimmers are suspect.
It takes 30 days for your skin to get used to it. I'm guessing this is your first electric shaver? The blades are under the foil so it may irritate, but not sure how it would cut you? Give it another week or two. Braun gives you a 30 or 60 day money back guarantee.

Glad to hear. As someone who has both I just don't see a reason to spend extra for the 7. Glad you like the 5.
Thanks for the review! It's surprising how many I had to go through to find someone actually putting it to use. Will definitely be purchasing this!

It definitely does look cool. The blade head is bigger than the 7 series too

Hello, is it recommended to buy it or not? Im not good in english ❤️❤️❤️
I like it and it works well. I recommend any of them.
Hi Sean,
Thanks for reviewing the device. I have just bought one and was wondering have you had to replace the shaving head in the last year and half of usage ?
I have not. I am sure it isn't 100%, but it still cuts just fine in my opinion.
How have you liked this shaver over the past year? Thought I'd check in.
I have one,and love it.It is the best electric shaver I ever had

I would give it at least 2 weeks. I came from rotary shavers and it took a bit to get used to this but I do like this better.

Interesting. I haven't had any trouble. They say your face and facial hair have to adjust. I'm guessing you have a really thick beard?
Average beard, not thick. It may be something i'm doing wrong. Most people seem to like it.

Can we use this shaver for body?
I can't see why not other than if you would get itchy. I'd cut the hair short first and try it in just one spot and see what happens.
Can i use gel with this shaver
I don't use any shave gel or cream but the instructions say you certainly can. Let me know how that works out.
thank so much it really helps
Glad to help. Do you have one?
Thanks! Smooth like a naked snake in the sun
Funny! I found that they still have it on display at Target.

I'd probably call a repair shop for electronics.
Is 5030s the same as 5090cc ? besides the cleaning station and wet and dry thing ?

@@ziaulhaqhamidi9505 in that case you may use the trimmer on the shaver before using the foil to get it shorter.

Starats livevil I find that if you shave every day and use it for a while your skin adjusts.
That makes sense. I'm gonna give it a try and see how it works for me. Thanks!
Starats livevil use shaving cream that’s what I do I have no problems good luck

Sean's DIY & Reviews sorry for the late reply I use Gillette lotion not the foam

My philips shaver 7000 is much quiter.
