Believe in me, the 24 keys is more easy to play, I once had many kalimbas, but now the Seeds 24 keys kalimba is my favourate. all of my songs are played with it.
Just curious, what makes it easier?
@huge balls The kalimba with 17/21/34 keys are symmetrical, when you try to play the keys on the same side with your both thumbs (at the same time) , the feeling is really unfriendly. to avoid this, we will making some concessions in arrangements, but this will make the chord not melodious enough.
@@RainyYu-Kalimba Ahh you know what, I didn't even think of that. That's a good point, you are correct that with the regular kalimba it's difficult to use both thumbs on adjacent tines on the same side.

The seeds 34 chromatic is the one I got when I went looking and I love it. Working on learning the theme from The Candyman for Halloween.

I hope not, that would be ridiculous and the ultimate proof that this Kalimba is not that good. I think that Seeds produce good quality Kalimba with fine design.

@@marciohonshirabe4016 the tuning does go out quickly in my experience. It needs some retuning every one or two days

I have to admit, I like the simple design of the previous Seeds kalimbas - without that circle - A LOT more. They were to me as perfect as a kalimba can be.
Same!! I'm not a fan of the circle thing too. I do not see the need for it aside from the visual design perhaps. Though i must say, the tines are nice. :)

All of the videos I've seen of this instrument fail to mention that this is an UNresonated kalimba -- the tines are monunted on a simple slab of wood, rather than a resonating box. Consequently, the instrument has very, very low volume -- what you hear in the video has been massively amplified.
Also, the instrument is only semi-chromatic. The lowest octave is diatonic.
On a hollow wooden box the upper tines tend to not be resonant, so these tend to be more balanced but lower in volume. There's a trade off I guess, you choose depending on your preference.
@@luckybarrel7829I absolutely agree on this point. Generally speaking, it seems that men prefer the hollow box sound and women prefer the softer and the prettier sound of the flat board. I'm one of those women. 😁

I prefer the F3 G3 A3 B3 they provide on the top tines instead of the missing sharps/flats but I'm sure they can be easily retuned if a fully chromatic is nedded. I think having the lower notes is more useful for most people.

I got a model W-17T 17 key kalimba for Christmas and I've noticed when I press high notes it rings and sounds like other notes are playing? Is there any way to fix this?

I love the cute designs from the most acrylic kalimbas, they are beautiful, tiny and handsome❤️
But most of the wooden kalimbas, like the flat boards for example, or the hole things are sounding much louder and kind of more epic! ✨ - > which one should I buy?!😬🙏
As a beginner, go for a flatboard, as these are less likely to have dead tines. And you can buy a cheap kalimba, depending on your budget, and access, The acrylics are quieter, but do have a cute sound, and may be heavier to hold. Kimi, and nalu brands are popular, as for hollows, they're louder, you can cover the holes for effects. It's better to buy a good brand with a hollow, I have a ling ting and had no issues with dead tines, it's good to research on this as everyone will have different experiences,Also, you can purchase kalimbas with PU to amplify the sound.

I think I should go with 34 keys chromatic though I am a beginner and still playing 17 keys. I am willing to learn and challenge myself. Practice is the key to be more consistent. Thanks for sharing. God bless me and all!

I myself went from a 17 key kalimba to the 34. (I'm also a beginner) it's on the pricey side but the added depth to the music you can play and how it sounds makes a huge difference playing the two.
@@letskalimbatogether4211i also am playing a 17 key kalimba, i spent most of my time searching for music to play (17 key + adequate difficulty + song which have a good rhythm +/- songs i know = a very narrowed list)

Hi! From my personal experience with the Seeds 34 Key of C kalimba, it definitely doesn't need to be tuned everyday. I played for hours, a couple days a time in intervals while practicing/just playing and have owned it since late last year and I havent tuned it yet! I do still check if it's properly in tune and so far it's been great with staying tuned. Hope this helps!

I bought a 17 key Everjoy kalimba on Amazon for 45$ and when I got it the very very highest key was a dead tine.
Is it worth returning or is it impossible to find a kalimba that works in my price range?
If it is the moment I will choose to return, usually Kalimba will determine your quality because of your price.
I prefer kalimba 34 keys.

I just got a new kalimba, i think the brand is Ommuu the 4 keys on the edge of the kalimba is stiff and dont do sound, its a hollow kalimba. What should i do to fix it?

If you can return it that would be the best. Try quokka kalimba or a flatboard type:)
