Great video!! I love Virginia City!! Two quick stories. First one is a story of coming here with my family in the early 1970's. We arrived in the afternoon. A storm followed us, from Lake Tahoe. The sage smelled wonderful. When we got to town, it was pouring! Really pouring. Those rain gutters were full and pouring out into main street, one was filling up the back of a pickup truck. Lightning and thunder was really bad too! Seeing the valley light up was spectacular, as it lit up the night sky. As a kid, it was awesome and a bit scary. I'll never forget that memory. Story 2. I went to visit Virginia City, by myself, maybe 5 years ago. After touring main street, I went to the cemetery. When I arrived, the wind started to pick up and stayed windy the whole time I was there. As I left the gates and walked to my car, the wind died down to nothing. It was a bit creepy!
Nothing better than old haunted hotels! Especially in the Wild West!
First time I went to Virginia City was in 1962. I loved it then and I still love it. The cemetery is fascinating....actually many cemeteries.
Very nice. Who doesn't love Virginia City!?! I went back and watched an old Virginia City episode on the Randomland channel. It's worth a watch if you haven't seen it or even if it has been a while. Kind of fun hearing the old Randomland ditty.
That town looks amazing!!! 😍
30 minute new randomland video... today must be my birthday
The Shady Dell, Tombstone, camping with your boy and now Nevada? It's great to see you back out at it!
I stayed at the Dell this past weekend, and due to major thunderstorms Bisbee dropped down to 62 degrees Saturday night. It was heaven!
I love Virginia City. I spent hours wandering the cemeteries, I didn’t even cover 1/4 of them.
I love your travels, it's literally inspired me to travel to historic towns like these all over the west. Keep up the amazing work.
Thanks for the history lesson, Justin. I'm glad you guys are back out on the road again.
A little piece of trivia for you.
As you mentioned, the Comstock Load helped the Union win the Civil War, but also, Nevada is the “Battle Born” state because the United States annexed the territory during the war so it could use the silver to fund the war.
Wow awesome episode! I love these Old West extended history lessons. Very unexpected history on something I never heard about before, The Boston Saloon. I can never have enough Old West History so please keep it coming =] Thanks
Dang it I was waiting for you to say the oooooooooooooooooooolllllllllddddddddddd west!!
Well done! It's good to see that the town is starting to be preserve more and taking care of it's history.
I was there in the early 60's. My best friend from high school 's father was co-owner in a silver claim under the town near a Chinese cemetery. The summer after we graduated, he took us to visit the claim to see a section the tunnel that had been excavated and re-shored. the original had collapsed from inadequate shoring back in history.
Another historic story of Virginia city is the Sutro Tunnels tunnels built by Adolph Sutro to drain the mines. He he became one of the richest men in world in that period and spread his wealth in San Francisco.
The lovely little lady made this video worth watching. Virginia City's babydoll.
Yeah, the baby graves creeped me out too. They made us tour that cemetery in the third grade.
Thank you for the Virginia City history. One of your best episodes, ever.
I've got to visit there someday. I've always wanted to. I can almost imagine a dirt street and wagons going through the town. I love staying in old hotels. Very comforting. I stayed in the Royal Carriage Inn in Jamestown and really enjoyed in. I love the oooooooooooooold west. Always have and it's wonderful that you are exploring again. You should visit it. They have a railway park and you can even ride the train. I wanted to but was limited on time so I couldn't. You really should visit since it's one of the gold rush towns. I want to return one day and just spend a few days there exploring.
Thank you so much for making all of our days better! I don’t know how I would survive this quarantine I didn’t have you here! Thank you so much!
Thank you so much for sharing your Virginia City adventures. I have also been fascinated with this town and I’m so glad you went to the cemetery and the Silver Queen Hotel. Really fun video here. Cheers from Old Highway 66 in central Oklahoma.
Virginia City is my favorite town in Nevada. I remember going as a child and being freaked out by the cemetery

Hi there Justin! I’m an archeology student up at UNR, & was so thrilled to see the shoutout to our department when you discussed the Boston Saloon. In my Nevada Archeology class this past semester, we actually talked about the findings at that site. It’s so cool! Thank you for exploring Virginia City and doing all that you do!
All I wanted was a Pepsi! Just one Pepsi, and she wouldn’t give it to me!
But for real, that was a great episode, Justin. Thanks for sharing all of the homework you clearly do before your trips. Great, fun, and informative historical content, and not just retelling the same old myths.
