It's old song but it's still one of my all time favorite Apocalyptica songs! Also it's one of those songs I have heard probably over 500 times, but I still keep coming back to this music video every now and then.
Thank you to my sister, who introduced me to this amazing band when I was 8. Now, at 27, Apocalyptica is still part of my life, and every time I listen, I’m reminded of those early days. It truly is a masterpiece. Thank you!
Hideo Kojima - A man whose playlist is something I would pay money to see 😂 (P.S - Every single track he has used for his trailers were just amazing and perfect for the mood and setting of those Trailers)
It's amazing that even the videoclip has the same concept as death stranding. The shadows on the wall are mirror yet different images of the cello players...
Kojima tends to draw inspiration from movies, music, tv shows, articles he’s read, conversations he’s had, anything and everything. The man looks for inspiration in anything everything. That’s why his games are so multifaceted and deal with so many interesting topics.
@@Sam-vk8xd Well, Kojima practically embodies the definition of an "auteur artist". He even mostly treats his work more as a movie, rather than a video game. Probably why a good portion of the new Death Stranding trailer looked like a movie done in motion capture.
@@Fir7shadow I think I remember something about Kojima saying in an interview that game developing for him is more akin to directing a film that can also be interacted with. He wants people to experience a story unfold like they would on the big screen, but also be able to interact with it and morph it and shape meanings for themselves. I doubt there are many people in his position that think about game developing that way, and far less that can even execute their vision without totally bombing. That's probably why everyone loves Kojima. We all know he's unique in his vision and style, but what makes him really special is how he's one of the few directors who can actually realise it and make it playable.
this song is so epic, I can't believe it hasn't been used in any movies since its release in 2001, it works really well with the Death Stranding trailer, bravo Kojima, you've done it again you crazy bastard!

Thanks to Kojima's great taste in music, he connected me to this masterpiece and this amazing band If not for Death Stranding, I wouldn't have known this song's very existence
I love everything about this video. I love the music, its beyond fantastic. I also really love the imagery. I don't know how philosophical or introspective the band intended to be with this. I love that it seems to begin with a question of what is in one self (the beginning music and the initial lead cello seems to come out as a question, that responds with the shadow forming and answering.) And that answering questions about oneself leads to a deeper insight. But I also like how It seems that after questioning yourself, and trying to master yourself, the shadows seem to respond as if to say "I am you, you cannot reject or defeat me." I like how it then turns the previous statement on its head. The shadow is now dictating to the person. It is telling the person how it feels, how it works, how to respond. In the end is it defiance to our inner self, or acceptance of who we are that creates the harmony? Are they rejecting the way they were raised, the things they were taught, the prejudices they believed? Or are they accepting their faults, their flaws, the things they wish they didn't know, and don't want others to know? I know I am looking to deep into it.. but gods I love this video....
Hey I really love your perspective on the song, the way I watch the video now is different. You should check out 46&2 by Tool if you already haven't ^.^
Brandon Risner it's literally called "Path", dude. your description pretty much sums it up. you beat your inner beast but then you fall to human weaknesses, so your shadow rises, but you stand up to resist it and get over the highest obstacles and in the end beat the hardest obstacles:yourself. so that there is no more shadow.
In the end of one of Penrose's Book ( circa 2010?) he states/thinks about a Platon's cave and in short, how if we think about it, the reality can be seen as casting the shadow but also the shadow can form the reality :) If I found this I paste it here :)
philosophical standpoint I guess you could say both light and darkness have their place just like day and night both are needed to make the world go round and without one or the other the world would die balance is needed.
This song was a religious experience when I first heard it around 2003, as part of an Escaflowne AMV. Twenty years later it's still an all time favorite.
