Love these breakdowns. They show a different side of goal-tending and coaching that isn't always explained and showcased. You sir have yourself a new subscriber!
Hey Julian, Thank you for the support! I will add Grubauer for next week's poll! You can participate on our Instagram page @mapsouthgoaltending to vote every Sunday!
I've noticed Price's stick is always inching towards a paddle-down position as players progress towards him during shootouts, maybe to favour his blocker position?
I liked the vid but i will disagree with the very final assessment. Not only would that pass not be forced if he seen Carey in a high percentage of probable save in the RVH, but Price also did not push from his left foot, his sheer size and a shot to the logo was the only thing accomplished here. He got lucky.
Thank you for your support. And respect your opinion, but he would've had to have pushed or at the least c-cut off his left skate in order to get himself square for the shot, before the pass he is flat to his goal-line. Because he rotates forward and watch again, he does in fact dig in the toe of his glove side skate which allows him to push and gain depth directly to the shooter's stick blade. Also if he is in RVH, he would've had a much more difficult time rotating forward to square himself to the pass (which would expose the far side of the net as well, if he remained flat), and I don't believe it is necessary to be in RVH when the pass is made. There is no jam threat or immediate wrap-around which allows him to be more agile from his feet. I do agree his size aids him in his ability to make this save. Also, I'd watch again the shot hits him in the glove which is stacked on top of his pad, not his logo. Love that you are sharing your opinion to stimulate the conversation and please continue to do so! This is what I really enjoy about posting these videos! So true in the difficult situations he just looks so calm and natural
