Nice. It seems like taking a path that angles back more would take a little longer to execute because you have to turn your body farther to get that trajectory that's opposite how you were facing the first shooter. So although it would be a better path, if you arrive later, that's also a drawback and you can only chose one: good path, or arriving early. In the end, if you're caught in a fast attack, either way could fail to produce a save. He might opt for the bad path when he judges he's in a tough spot and maybe he hopes that arriving early will at least give him the chance to be almost set enough to flare out a limb and get a "lucky" stop.
Even more impressive is that Vasilevskiy is naturally left handed but learnt to play right handed due to a lack of equipment. This is a very difficult thing to do. I believe Curtis Joseph also did the same.
It seems to refer to the move where the goalie stays tight to the post, shoulders squared to close out gaps and remain square to the shooters. Other videos seem to point to this too, like the Saro's breakdown.
A should check is when he looks over his shoulder to evaluate and check for any players and threats. It helps him keep track of everyone on the ice and therefore allows him to play smarter. Shoulder checks are usually done when the pick carrier is not a threat and the goalie has time to quickly check over there shoulder. (Hope I explained this well enough)

If I ever met Vasilevskiy, I'd pass out bc he's my favorite hockey player

Cujo didn’t do this but fuhr had to catch with his left because the lack of equipment
@@MarcoCostantini33 Fuhr caught with his right. Cujo was left handed but played orthodox, hence why he reversed his stick to play the puck.
@@1bert719 i meant fuhr had to catch with his left cuz they didnt make full right gloves yet
@@MarcoCostantini33 I assume you mean his pre NHL career?
@@1bert719 yeah this is like way before nhl like his first 9 years of playing goalie
Love these videos. Can you tell me what you mean by "shoulder check?" Thank you!
