  • Becky Guiles, the self-proclaimed most frugal mom in America, has some money-saving tips for grocery shopping. Her first tip is to make sure you have a list when you're going into the grocery store, which will keep you on track and on budget. She says don't pay extra for convenience and buy fruit whole instead of pre-cut. Also, when it comes to fresh produce, Guiles says to stay away from anything prepackaged.

More tips: Don’t always buy name brands, keep and eat leftovers, save seeds from veggies to grow your own in the spring, talk to the store employees about deals or the best prices for your food needs. The employees at my store’s deli always help me find the best deals.

The easiest way me and grandma have saved at the grocery store was through fish and cheap random veggies. We always find good deals on fish at local international grocery stores. They have a ton of options for $3 a lb or less. My grandma got fish for $0.99 a lb before. They can even clean it and take out the bones for free if you want to. There’s always cheap random veggies we can find and they don’t even taste bad. Carrots aren’t random but we can get them for cheap. For meat, gizzards is really cheap but many people don’t want it. Lidl and aldi help many people like me save in my area.

How to avoid waisting money with coupons:
    1. Don't buy something you don't need just because you have a coupon for it.
    2. Do a price comparison with store brands. Store brands may still be cheaper than the coupon item.
    3. Don't buy a product that you currently have enough of. So see how much of a product you have before going to the store.

It’s all too expensive. Even if it’s not pre packaged. Nothing is inexpensive now. I would think I would be losing weight from not being able to afford to eat but no I am packing on the pounds.
