- Becky Guiles, the self-proclaimed most frugal mom in America, has some money-saving tips for grocery shopping. Her first tip is to make sure you have a list when you're going into the grocery store, which will keep you on track and on budget. She says don't pay extra for convenience and buy fruit whole instead of pre-cut. Also, when it comes to fresh produce, Guiles says to stay away from anything prepackaged.
I'm glad my mother taught me well. Honestly the going in with a list is the best tip.
me too. I seldom go to market without notes/list of food, things, etc. only the basic needs first
Same
This stuff is literally common sense
I never go shopping without a list, I've been doing that for years.
Shouldn't need to be taught common sense.
More tips: Don’t always buy name brands, keep and eat leftovers, save seeds from veggies to grow your own in the spring, talk to the store employees about deals or the best prices for your food needs. The employees at my store’s deli always help me find the best deals.
Tip: Vote Republican. Democrats create inflation.
All the wrong things!
For the past year or so I’ve just been utilizing the grocery drive up option. I receive only what I need and I’m not wasting money buying unnecessary items 👍🏾
Yes so smart! Also you get the best deals/prices online
We also use the Walmart delivery 🚚
You miss a lot of markdown items by shopping this way I've only been buying markdown meat for many years I can go into a store buy what I need and walk out without buying extras you just have to have discipline
@@debbieframpton3857 I am with you I love shopping for discount's like yogurt, and meat's that look good.
I've recently started doing this and it saves me sooo much time because I don't get a choice in picking the best looking *insert food item* and I can see how much I'm spending right then there. Truly a life hack
7.50 for CAPTAIN CRUNCH?! Nah. Ima have to go for the giant store brand. "Captain not so Crunchy" lol
lol I said the same thing. I don't buy cereal but the last time I did it was like 4.50 or something.
$6 for three peppers is still wild
The captain crunch price has me shaken! Wherever they live, I’m glad it’s not where I do!
Right you can buy a frozen bag of peppers sometimes at the dollar store for a buck you just have to search around 🌞
How much is your monthly salary? 100 USD? Wtf 🙄
Yeah, there isn't a single store around here that sells bell peppers for that much. In the cheaper stores you pay between 69 cents to a buck for green and below 1.50 for the other colors.
Crazy expensive!!
Another tip is to buy the store brand instead of the name brand. I usually do this at Albertson's (California). It can also save you money.
Depends on your nutritional needs though
My mom never taught me about grocery shopping and most of the time I buy extra stuff like chips, cakes, sodas, etc. I always feel bad for buying extra stuff that wasn't necessarily good for my wallet and body. This video will definitely help me thank you!
Good 👍
Sad...
You only live once GET ANY THING YOUR STOMACH DESIRES!!!!
You live in the richest country in the world. and you feel bad about splurging a lil bit?
#1 Money-Saving tip: don't spend at all and just eat water.

😂 😂
So you eat ice??
Nice, skinny people could survive without food for one month and the fat ones could live around two months
Buy generic when ever possible. The name brand stuff is crazy expensive unless it’s on sale. My kids don’t mind the Walmart brand Oreos $2 vs $6
Here's a way better tip for saving money: Don't have kids. (and for men: stay single)
@@stephenbeary7887 troll
Remember, Store Brand and Name Brand products, sometimes come from the same place. It is just named Differently.
Don't forget to compare prices on meat. Don't have always pull out the first one. $13 for chicken breast vs $10 for the same thing, just a pound or two less.
@@poeticangel27 just skip eating meat
I do all these "tips" plus check the store's flyer for any good deals and base my dinners on that sometimes.
@@ricardo_boutique how about you skip telling people what not to eat?
@@capybaraponque611 how about you eat something healthier and with a lower carbon footprint without enslaving animals ? Too hard for your ego ?
Im 20 and just started buying my own groceries this is a huge help 🙏
Small tip, the cheaper store brand food usually tastes just as good as the name brand food.
@@pineapplesauce7499 unless it’s great value. I dig Kroger brand stuff though
@@LiveinAK Majority of Walmart great value stuff is fine in my experience. 🤷🏾 Especially for basics like milk, cheese, eggs, oil, pasta, frozen veggies, bread, etc
Here's a 🍪
@@pineapplesauce7499 it’s edible at best
Another tip is to never go grocery shopping when you're hungry. It may sound a bit odd, but if you're hungry, you're going to impulse buy so much junk food and stuff you'll eat once and throw away when it expires later.
I always take a list and my grocery bill hasnt gone up much.. And a physical list is even better I love it😆
Anyone who didn’t know these super basic things probably is still living with their mommy and isn’t an adult yet

Agree
That's not true but ok
Not really. I am 25 and have lived on my own since I was 17. I am guilty of buying prepackaged fruit because it’s easier for my toddler and I honestly didn’t know it was THAT much higher in coat
I do all these "tips" plus check the store's flyer for any good deals and base my dinners on that sometimes.
YOU WILL SAVE MONEY!! 💰honestly she isn’t wrong, I never leave the house without my list of what I need to buy for my family. ❤
YOU WONT SAVE MONEY
ADD TAX TOO
WHAT A DUMMY LADY
Oh wow who knew to look up and down for a cheaper prices at the grocery store🤣🤣
I do all these "tips" plus check the store's flyer for any good deals and base my dinners on that sometimes.
Very wise lady. Thanks for your wonderful tips.
I never had kids...that's how I save money 💰
I like "Buy 2 for price of one""
or
"50% off"
To the person reading this, even though I don't know you. I wish you the best of what life has to offer 🙏🤗❤️

Plan meals around what's on sale. When stuff is on sale, buy extra and store or freeze. Buy in bulk when possible.
Thank you. I will make sure to use these tips the next time I go to the grocery store
Breakfast for dinner is always the best!
Let me add some more tips (mostly for those who want meat)
A big freezer :
Some stores sell packages of 10kg+ of meat which usually about 40% cheaper
However because of price hike for me now it went down to 15-25%
Freezing meat doesn't change the taste by much yet saves a lot of money
That sounds like another pandemic in the making.
My mom works at a bakery and she always packed all the leftovers home. We eat those for breakfast and lunch.
I realized I can go to bed early, then I won't have to buy food for dinner.
when i was a kid, i grew up in one those healthy eating homes. But when breakfast-for-dinner came around (which was once in a blue moon), life was lit.
The easiest way me and grandma have saved at the grocery store was through fish and cheap random veggies. We always find good deals on fish at local international grocery stores. They have a ton of options for $3 a lb or less. My grandma got fish for $0.99 a lb before. They can even clean it and take out the bones for free if you want to. There’s always cheap random veggies we can find and they don’t even taste bad. Carrots aren’t random but we can get them for cheap. For meat, gizzards is really cheap but many people don’t want it. Lidl and aldi help many people like me save in my area.
How to avoid waisting money with coupons:
1. Don't buy something you don't need just because you have a coupon for it.
2. Do a price comparison with store brands. Store brands may still be cheaper than the coupon item.
3. Don't buy a product that you currently have enough of. So see how much of a product you have before going to the store.
Waste
I’ve been living off fruit , meat , chicken , fish , and eggs , yogurt, tuna And water 😅. I stop buying processed foods , I don’t go out to eat , and yes it’s gonna be like this for a while .
Funny thing is, this is what's considered luxury in many parts of the world but in the USA, not being able to have your usual snacks and junk foods is upsetting to a lot of people
I buy Manager's special for meats and veggies/fruits on discount. I don't eat snacks or junk foods. I do have a lot of potatoes too. Overall, maybe spend $20-$30 a week so it hasn't been too bad
She's absolutely correct
What about the 5 finger discount?
Wait a minute $6 for 3 peppers 🤔
Try Aldi
good tips personally I’ve always bagged my own peppers as you can find the freshest ones .
But omg I thought inflation hit us hard in the Uk but I’ve seen it all now 😳 hopefully it gets better
Thanks 🙏
Well I have to say this is surprisingly good advice.
Biggest tip I can give is DO NOT shop hungry! You will rush and you will just end up buying more food than you normally would.
Good tips
Another tip they forgot to share: Just steal it 😆#1 Money saving tip
I rarely have a list but I am so well stocked up there is very little I need. I've been stocking up for many years I only buy markdown meat ( not whats on sale unless it's marked lower )and I try to buy as much other markdown items as I can find
I knew all of this because my mom showed me how!
Happy 😊
I love your videos

Literally no one asked
7$ for a box of cereal!?
Yea them grocery prices has skyrocketed 😡😡😡
@CYRUSTHEVIRUS Yep pretty much. All those international grocery stores I go to, consistently have the best deals.
Regardless, according to margins at the supermarket I work at, atleast 40% is profit, and that’s with the name brand, while our companies brand is almost 60%.

Black People have served breakfast for dinner for years..I'm 68 and my kids had pan cakes eggs sausage for dinner. I shop like this all the time..I have always had to budget... welcome to my World.
Keeping grocery spending in check is all well and good (and I do follow a fair share of these tips as well), but I just don't see anything being done to curb inflation in the first place, It's not fair to just leave people to fend for themselves, especially if they had a hard time making ends meet before all this.
Yes breakfast for dinner all the way.
I love breakfast for dinner my son does too
Omg I wish I can eat breakfast food for dinner
I thought I was going to learn something new!
Last week I spend 300$ at Whole Foods. A few months ago it was only 240$ I’m cutting back on going out for now on
Matpats laughing right now
Best nutrition food i suggest that doesn't cost much is spinach it's should be considered 3 days a week
And filled with all kinds of health benefits
My mom was the Best! Shopper of all time
The grocery store would end up owing her money 💴
Well they have a bunch of food out nice and stacked evenly .you go to Walmart barely anything on the shelf and it's all mixed up .I get confused in there sometimes
Breakfast food for dinner …. .now that’s a useful tip. Sometimes you just need someone to point you in another direction.
Another thing my mom always fails. Never go to the grocery store when your hungry lol
Eat full , before you go groceries
I like drive-up options because then I’m not even tempted. I just buy what’s on the list and call it a day.
I stopped buy anything and that saves a lot but I'm always hungry and have no energy and nothing fits me anymore idk man
Here in the UK news claim prices gone up 10% in last year, milk a lone has gone up about 50% in the last few months.
I'm sorry but did I see a box of Captain Crunch for $7?😮
Yes it's $8 where I live
She forgot to say buy store brand instead of a known brand
The best tip is to actually not go to the grocery store. Just buy ur food ingredients at the market instead
Tip ten go to the dumpster you’ll never know what goodies lies in the restaurant thrown out food
I Need this in Lebanon
I agree with everything she said. Except the slicing your own cheese thing. No.
1:23 packaged produce is just a waste of plastic...
How about lowering the prices back
Of course we know the off brand is cheaper don’t nobody want cocoa crunchier🤣
Better make the trucks fully autonomous as the driverless taxis in San Fransisco and make them run through a special lane with an electrical power source on top of it as the one in the UK. It's cheaper, faster, safer and it will lower the prices since it will solve supply chain problems
Thank you president
Damn Becky OKAY
Don't make complicated meals with lots of ingredients ...
the CIA & the FBI wants to know your location
why is cheese and peppers so expensive in the us, in the uk its £1 for a block of cheese and around £1.20 for 3 peppers
Wow
thanks for all these tips but they were a little bit obvious:))
When did captain crunch become 8 bucks? 😮
Just shop at costco or walmart, never could shop a finesse ass grocery store
I always shop with the BOGO offers
Sorry but she's not that frugal. I look for "reduced" price items and they're always over half off regardless if its meat, dairy or produce items.
You're only saving a dollar if you follow her shopping ways.
Impulse shopping 🛒 is the worst weapon to break your bank 🏦 much quicker. Thus, going down aisle sweets aisle, frozen deserts, baked goods will not only make your grocery bigger, it will pack on pounds on your waist line, bad for you LDL, high blood pressure and cordorsol levels to spike.
Eat smart, save smarter, live better in today's economy.
Just shop at walmart
Yeah but NYC don't got a lot of Walmarts
Really?!!! Hahhaa thats what I do and already I pay over $250 dlls per week (3 Adults+1 Toddler) Thats basics or tips for rich people 😅
The company : am i joke to you?
Aldi also has lower prices, theirs have not gone up.
Okay Becky
That grocery store is expensive for no reason I went there on Wednesday
It’s all too expensive. Even if it’s not pre packaged. Nothing is inexpensive now. I would think I would be losing weight from not being able to afford to eat but no I am packing on the pounds.
I remember when a box of cereal was 69 cents….and it didn’t taste like cardboard!
Use Ibotta too
Breakfast for dinner...lol and what would you eat in the morning?
Dinner is literally breakfast but at night, don’t eat a lot during dinner guys
And water is wet 🥴🤣
So, you can actually save money by cutting the cheese? 🤔
the CIA & the FBI wants to know your location
Shout out to that guy in the background 🤭🤭
Just eat less. You're welcome.
Haha
