Love you both. Thanks for keeping the gadget show alive. Suzi - please get an external mic. Really hard to listen to. Ask Jason, his audio is awesome. Hugs to all.
My opinion on why there’s a downward slope on Xbox hardware is because they’ve completely abandoned everything that made Xbox special. The Xbox was cool when it was first released and had really unique, impressive and entertaining games. Plus, back then you could buy a game, play it, display it, trade it, sell it etc. These days companies are asking people to drop insane amounts of money on a piece of hardware that favours digital games, which should in theory be cheaper due to no production costs, but aren’t. So you’ve got a really expensive bit of kit, with really expensive games, that the consumer doesn’t actually own and to top it off the games that have been coming out have been sub par. Bloated development times, insane budgets and then rocky, buggy releases has meant that these games take years to make and then bomb on arrival because they’re broken and then they never claw back what they cost. Theres no value for the consumer. If Xbox announced a physical console, with physical games, at a cheaper price and started focusing on the quality of the games, I guarantee it would sell.
Probably the best comment that summarises everything this gen has gone through….could not say it better. I’m a PlayStation fan and I feel they should definitely share blame. I don’t mind digital but 100% it’s more expensive, what’s worse is you can’t return it after you started playing it. Therefore leaving no accountability on companies who make these games. What’s worse is that hardware is going to get even more expensive
You’re right. They created a market and then sat back to make easy money. Which failed because the love has gone. When corporations take over art the art is fart.
@@JasonEkwueme Not to mention these new digital only consoles will brick and only be playable for as long as servers and services remain active. They were recently talking about how retro tech is climbing in price and its because you can still plug in and play those consoles the exact same way you did day 1. With an all digital playstation or xbox, as soon as that model becomes redundant or studios/ developers shut down those games and consoles will be unplayable. Another reason why people arent as keen rto drop money on these newer consoles.
The more games become multi-platform the more the Xbox declines, you have to keep console exclusives just that, this is why Nintendo are so successful.
@ I like that you can only play certain games on certain consoles. It makes it interesting. I remember being the only kid in my class who got the Xbox instead of the ps2 and I didn’t regret it one bit. There’s something fun about researching what games are on what system and comparing and contrasting.
I’m so glad this popped up on my UA-cam algorithm! It’s been a long time Suzi & Jason. Great presenters & I loved The Gadget Show when you were on it so this will now become a staple of mine 👌🏻
Great having you guys on again - I’m enjoying the shows. Would it possible for all parties to use the same sound setups? The sound from each person comes out at different levels/pitches etc. Other than that bingo :)
Damn, Looking at you guys makes me realize that Time does fly very fast. I remember Watching the show on tv 15 years ago as a kid. back when Ebook Readers, 3G Network, Tablets, X360 Kinect and HD Video streaming were a new thing
They should have kept a consistent naming convention for all of the different models so that it's easy to tell which is the most recent console without having to Google it.
That explains it - I saw a number of Ninja Crispi reviews on UA-cam months ago and was therefore puzzled about why it was supposedly new. Presumably I had been looking at reviews from America. Nice to see Suzi associated with the Gadget show again. Jason, Jon and Suzi have always been the classic presenter crew I associate most with Gadget Show (sorry Craig, Otis and Georgie).
I connect my Samsung Galaxy S smartphone to my TV (USB-C dock with HDMi, Gigabit Ethernet etc.) and use XBox Game Pass to stream games onto the TV display using Samsung DeX. Works surprisingly well with little lag or graphics issues as we have fast fibre. With renewed Galaxy S phones less than £200.00, you have a great phone as well as a games console. You can even run apps on your phone that your TV might not support such as Disney Plus.
Forgot to add on last post as I hadn’t come to JBL section of the video..I’ve been using Sonos for a number of years and picked up JBL Boombox 3 early this year, Wow!! What a speaker! The young ones have the charge and that party link mode is AMAZING!! Props to JBL my favourite speaker brand right now!!!
I love both my xbox one and my PS5. Still have my Sony discman. It's a shame that you can't put music onto it as the platform sony used is no longer in use. Great podcast. Loved seeing Jason and Suzie chatting.
As a huge (mature) console gamer and collector, the day Xbox and PlayStation go digital only and drop physical media altogether is the day I give it all up. Love buying games, displaying them, hunting in the wild for bargains etc. I have no love for streaming to steam decks or digital only content. Sorry, just old skool I guess
Original Xbox still has a very much live community with modding and even online play! I still rock the old Xbox and a chunky CRT TV. Best way to play those games imo.
Soo Good to see the gang back together, Suzi 😍, as always and Jason👌. Looking forwards next ep !!! Hello to Otis and Jon, hope to see you soon. Question! Do you think Sony will be able to Catch up with Xbox's readily available service, or will Sony continue to double down on Hardware, with some cloud?
The Xbox situation is very nuanced and complex. There's so much to it in terms of why the current hardware is not doing as well as Sony it would take a while to actually discuss it. Without putting an essay here, I would say the Xbox brand is not dead. However, I think its future in hardware is up in the air at the moment. Phil Spencer has hinted they are working on the next generation of hardware and I think it's entirely possible we will see a next generation Xbox, but there are also his comments on if the divisions fortunes don't improve by 2027 (which is a little over 2 years away now), they may exit the gaming business. It's also interesting to note that Microsoft always release titles on both PC and Xbox day and date and more of their titles are now making their way to PS5 and Switch. Whilst Sony are releasing more on PC, there's a bit of a delay between the PS5 release and the PC release and the amount of titles they release on Switch and Xbox is highly limited (2 examples being the LEGO Horizon game which is on Switch and MLB the Show which is completely multi platform). I think what's potentially going to happen with Xbox is they will put more of their effort into the service side of things, specifically Game Pass as that is doing very well for them and it has been suggested Microsoft would love to see it come to PlayStation and Nintendo. However, I think the only way that would ever happen is if Microsoft left the hardware side of things, while ever they release a console, I can't see Sony and Nintendo consider allowing Game Pass on their systems. But that's purely my speculation.
Great seeing Suzi & Jason. I've had an Xbox for years and years. I think Xbox hardware is declining as it has neglected its major game franchise Halo. Halo is tye reason people bought an Xbox but recent Halo games have been mismanaged. I can't think of another game I'd buy an Xbox for. I'm now seriously thinking of going back to PlayStation. Last time I had a PlayStation was the PS2.
I agree with jason that the xbox isn't dead and for that neither is the home console and i honestly don't think it ever will, because yes handheld are getting better thanks to cloud gaming, but there will aways be that generation of gamers new young and old that will want to game at home on a console. I think the question really is, is physical media dead? Will everything go digital? For that i don't think it will as the likes of cassette tapes and vinyl is coming back into fashion because people like the idea of having and owning there products. But it is a fascinating question to think about as anything could happen. But in terms of xbox if people keep buying hardware they will keep going same with sony and Nintendo
I have the xbox 360 x box one and currently on the X Box series X have always preferd the physical media. You can buy physical cames for as little as 50p to £5 at car boot sales or places like cex. The bad thing about consoles is a tiny 1TB internal storage having to juggle games around. Also i have a 5 TB external usb drive for Xbox games and a 2TB usb drive for films and music. some games you can play off external storage. The slot on the back of the xbox for storage is way ott on cost of storage. They could make it a standard where you can fit external m.2. Tried the could gaming was not that impressed. The digital side has good points, not having to get up to change discs. Just prefer to have the physical media in my opinion. The steam deck does not have a great battery life. a lad at work has one. The remote play on the xbox is a novel idea. Also a game pass ultimate user and use streaming from xbox too.
I think with the PS5 pro price in comparison to a mid range PC, I think Microsoft should consider a business model like 3DO. They should license minimum and maximum specs for the next generation, and license out to PC manufacturers or companies like Valve to produce set top boxes or handhelds which are compatible with Microsoft Operating system and with Game Pass. Then Microsoft did not need to worry about production costs for the hardware. They just can concentrate on the software and the system- maybe just manufacture the controllers for the systems. This would also create more competition with low end and high end versions...and if successful could put Sony in a position where the console is either too expensive against the low end competition or have to make a loss to compete with the high end manufacturers.
Licence it to Sega and it could sell really well if it reminds people of Mega Drive/Genesis, Saturn and Dreamcast. Imagine the blue Sega logo on the box, the console, the boot screen and dashboard. They could even have a Sega vault accessible for Game Pass subscribers where you can play old Sega first party console games and arcade cabinets. That’s a recipe for success in my opinion.
I think Suzi hit it on the head with moving away from hardware In my opinion Microsoft really should just focus on software not hardware - in my personal experience I e had hardware issues with both gens I’ve had - my original one took 10-15 tries to load any games & i gave them another go with 360, it wasn’t great & the needing to buy games again that I’d had with Sony put me off, I went with PS3 & hadn’t looked back stayed with Sony & I honestly can’t see me ever buying an XBox again
Nail on the head! Everyone who owns Xbox has one! Not only that but with the brilliant backward compatibility support Xbox has why would you buy all digital one? Microsoft did the right thing releasing the Series X and S. I have day one Series X and two boys have Series X and S, we share our expandable Xbox SSD. There is an Xbox that suits everyone! Who does the digital Series X 2TB suit? I honestly don’t see the appeal to “Upgrade” or if im new to Xbox that is not the one I would buy! Strange move by Xbox
I had a Mattel Intellivision. I was working at Butlins with a girlfriend and somehow, I git sucked into getting engaged or discussing engagement. Anyway, I saved £400 over the summer, to buy a ring. When I came back, I thought this is stupid, I'm going to Uni, so I spent £199 on the Intellivision and the rest on games. My friends and I loved the horse racing game. We used to gamble with it. I can't remember what I did with it, but my g/f and I split up....I can't think why....
In my experience the Xbox has been the most unreliable piece of hardware bar none. I have owned every version since its initial release and all of therm have failed within 2 years. My current Series X has just gone bang when switching it on and surprise surprise its out of warranty. Will not be replacing it and will revert to a one console owner namely the PS5
On the xbox.. alot as you said using gamepass on pc.. microsoft being just that. Its a foot shot.. there is us loyal fans who want a console. I sim race. I dont want pc headache and cost.. but asian market being big numbers. Sony is asian. Theres the problem/reason its not sold close to the numbers
If the ps5 pro is were console gaming is heading with costs against performance etc then I think it is the end of console gaming. PC gaming will take over and Microsoft know this which is why they will concentrate on software to make the PC gaming more user friendly.
Ok I know that channels have to make money to do what they do but I pay you tube a subscription not to have adverts and yet 99% of channels advertise , sometimes over 5 minutes of advert! Not good if I’m paying not to se adverts! Yes blah blah, stop watching those channels, yes , I do if the adverts get too much!!!
Xbox isn't just about a plastic box, it's an ecosystem. It's the Sony fan train that keeps saying Xbox is dead because they don't like when games go multiplatform. Now we've got news that an Xbox handheld is an existing product that is now officially coming in a few years. So hardware for Xbox isn't over with. Unlike Sony who ports games to pc too late and tack on requirements that reduce the numbers of games sold. Sony with a handheld that's cloud gaming only. Xbox has always been ahead, Xbox Live on Halo 2 had features we've not seen since including clans.
They are bringing out a new xbox soon Millions want physical discs for offline play etc. Sony have sold millions of consoles Pc users have discs So the answer is no. What next are square cars old fashioned
The series S is a stunning console, as not only does it play all the latest games, but it only uses 75 watts, compared to the 190 watt ps5 and series X, so a great little bang for bucks console that won't have you watching the lekky meter in these insane lekky price times.
Given that they have game pass and all the companies that Microsoft have purchased I believe that Microsoft will get either one of the companies they own to make the hardware or get a 3rd party manufacturer to build it what ever form that may be. Excluding Apple most companies are and have been transitioning to service base for some time now.
Xbox have been going down for years now cant compete with Sony. Xbox Series console family's 28.3 million unit sales are just under half of the PS5's 61.7 million.
When the xbox 360 online digital game store closed permanently earlier this year the secondhand game market went nuts, I think the 360 and Ps3 generation is a very collectible one as the graphics they have still look good today and the systems have hdmi, no messing about with frankenadapters.

Damn, Suzi is looking amazing still, sorry if that offends someone 🥰
What am I? Chopped liver?
nice on the chapters had to skip the jbl advert. im on youtube premium to not watch adverts. great show
all that tech she's tested in her life an she uses a 3 quid mic lol

First soccer am, now this…what next ffs? Oh and only here for Suzi ❤❤😂
Seriously why cant suzie just use a cheap microphone at the very least?? Her audio is terrible compared to jason
Jason in a studio and suzi is in hotel room, probably because of moto gp filming.
@funsamgaming still no excuse why she can't bring a tiny cheap microphone

I have two Intellivisions and an intellivoice :-). Burger Time is a favourite for us
audio is out of sync with the video
Noticed that too, it's one of those I just played in background, while doing other stuff.
Curios to know what they're going to call the next generation of xbox
mine steam deck is collecting dust...and my legion go as well...
Love my crystal xbox.

PS5 Pro, what a ripoff. I won't be buying one.
Yes the Xbox is dead 🤣🤣
Not dead
fake news
ok donald
I kinda feel the gadget show is a bit obsolete these days, I feel they are reaching
Xbox died after the 360. Musk could probably turn xbox around.
lolol brainwashed, he sack everyone and it turn to shitfest
seems like young/new gamers are brainwashed into thinking the PS is superior in some way, when in fact both consoles are dogwater- get a pc.
When the xbox 360 online digital game store closed permanently earlier this year the secondhand game market went nuts, I think the 360 and Ps3 generation is a very collectible one as the graphics they have still look good today and the systems have hdmi, no messing about with frankenadapters.
