Bullshit lmao running is KEY for BUDs baby! Lol 40mi a week is right where u need to be for SO training. Now u don’t have to kill yourself on those runs. Build your aerobic base and running 5x a week in a zone 2 base will definitely work wonders. 1 speed day a week. Not only will that help your endurance overall but also transition in the pool as well. Don’t be too heavy build them legs! Don’t want to be a tooth pic up top but just don’t over kill the weight room for upper body. Benching 315 isn’t necessary lol take it from me I was the heavy strong mfer.

Once I reach a certain level of strength in the weight room should I transition and really start focusing on the calisthenics and running/rucking?

@@abelmanville4045 For me personally, I cross train everyday mon-fri. (Swim/run and weightroom/calisthenics.) it will tear u down and can burn u out not gonna lie bc I spend 6hours a day doing consistent workouts to keep my body as if I’m in the sand in the pipeline (totally not necessary, I just enjoy doing it). Soooo, I would NOT recommend cross training everyday. However, U should swim and run everyday Mon-fri. Two run sessions should be to build up your aerobic base (zone 2 runs) and the other three days should be focused on speed training and intervals. Same concept with swim. Two long distance swims where u are swimming for 1hr minimum straight CCS and then other three days focused on intervals for speed. Again I picked guys brains on what they did training for the SO pipeline. Mixed different ideas but what I mentioned is a good base of how your workouts should be in my opinion. It sounds like a lot of work and time consuming which it is, however it’s necessary. BUDs is pretty vigorous but you will have highs and lows in the pipeline. Just remember your there to do a job and the training is part of the journey. Just embrace it. Stay healthy as injuries are unpredictable and fucks a good amount of candidates. But just train smart and enjoy the journey of you choose this lifestyle.

@@abelmanville4045 also I forgot to add, look into the “NAVAL SPECIAL WARFARE PHYSICAL TRAINING GUIDE” it’s pretty solid guide not gonna lie. Doesn’t incorporate strength training like weightroom stuff at least not that I can remember, but it’s a pretty good guide but you have to be strict and stick with it. If your already in good shape skip to like week 10 and start there and Just incorporate weightroom stuff into the guide.

Right but he’s talking about selection. While running and rucking are the two most important aspects, SFAS isn’t as run intensive as BUD/S. You need to have strong legs and good aerobic base, but what he’s saying is true.

@@whatohhellnah I understand and agree with you. SFAS is a little different than BUDs. I was just caught up and thinking about the BUDs pipeline instead of what it is for SFAS. Good catch brotha. I dont know much about SFAS and how to train for it. I just know its gotta be pretty tough. Also just to note I’m no expert by any means, that was just my opinion on my previous statement.
