Beautiful dogs!! One of my GSD hurt her leg when young and as she grew up, she limped whenever she played too rough or ran too much or weather was too cold. I now feed her cosequin, probiotics, colostrum, collagen peptide, turmeric, and bone broth powder and she has been doing so well (haven’t seen her limping lately). I know you take excellent care of your babies -just wanted to share what has been helping my baby girl. She hasn’t been to a specialist yet but our vet said we can do X-ray on her hips sometime in the future. Hope your baby gets well very soon🙏❤️
Thank you for the info! Eikō is taking consequin as well! He also started on canine musculoskeletal support powder, boswellia complex (herbal supplement), and omega-3 oil supplement as well! Will give an update on how Eikō is doing soon 🤍 Already seeing a lot of improvement with that in combination with his Physical therapy 🤗

You guys are fortunate to have Eiko, I had a beautiful German Shepherd and she had rear leg atrophy plus cancer , she.passed away maybe 20 years ago and when I see a German Shepherd like her it brings back many good moments.
I love Eiko ... he reminds me of my Long Hair I lost last May, just over a month shy of his 13th birthday. They could have been twins with looks / color / weight etc, except mine was a little darker in the face. Mine had the same thing, but he still lived a great life with the help of joint meds and some care from me. Man I miss him ....... I wish you and Eiko the best.

Its such a weird thing about life that many GSDs around the world go through some kind of a problem related to their hips and legs. This is one area people warn before getting a GSD. 😢
Because a majority large majority of the German Shepherds are being bred for show purposes , if you want a GSD that isn’t going to suffer from hip & joint problems your best chance is getting a working line GSD

5 weeks and then we do a re-check to see if he’s made improvement :)

Hi. So sorry to hear that :(( Our dogs don’t have hip dysplasia but I know the cosequin supplements that we give Eikō for his Fibrotic myopathy is a joint supplement. I would check in with your doggie vet for options 🤍🙏🏼

Hey 👋, just watched your video - have you guys consider water therapy for your GS Eiko? Where to you guys live - which town & state? Really good exercise for them especially on the joints, since it’s warmer on the water & you live in colder climate. I can see he’s in pain in this video doing his therapy - looks like his two front legs are much bigger & develop then his back / hind legs. Lol 😂 he’s already loving the water therapy - perfect for them 🙏👍🤗
Used to go to water therapy weekly for 6+ years before pandemic for myself with multiple joint pain for my scoliosis & helps with overall joint pain & muscle build up & flexibility. Would love to own a hydrotherapy for dogs one day 🙏🙏🙏
Yes! Water therapy is part of his PT :) he’s doing well and we’re seeing improvement! ❣️

Wow I hope everything comes out good for you but seek second opinions, my GSD a four-year-old female she’s 103 pounds and lean she’s just a very large German shepherd, she does have a right degenerative hip issue the ball on top of her femur is Ostialporosis really bad, however that is her dominant leg we did find out on her opposite leg she has a torn ACL, which I feel bad that we didn’t pick up on sooner once in a while she would occasionally drag her toenails on the ground to the point were sometimes they would’ve bled, she scheduled to go in May 30 to have a complete TPLO done on her knee, once that is dealt with and her leg is strengthen or she can bear the weight will re-examine whether she will need to have her opposite hip replaced with a full hip replacement, our specialist says she doesn’t seem to be exhibiting any pain and she’s dealing with that leg really well, now for the DM, there’s three stages you did not mention, there’s clear, carrier which can remain dormant the whole dogs life, and infected, Your little boy has the third stage and is considered infected? I’m glad ours came back, saying she’s just a carrier, and it can remain dormant in her definitely do not want to breed her because she can still continue to pass on to her offsprings which may become infected, please for shake, second test to be sure, from the second lab ours was done Michigan State University, and we’re here in Phoenix Arizona, make sure they’re not misdiagnosing a torn ALC two of my vets did !!!
Thanks for all the info! Wishing your pup gets better! Eikō was diagnosed with Fibrotic Myopathy (scar tissue) it’s genetic in GSDs. There’s really no cure, but daily massage, stretching, and physical therapy can manage it and also to make sure it does not get worse. We’ve seen improvement already so all is well with Eikō bear! 🤍

Beautiful dogs when looked at from the front but the side view shows typical for GS genetic defect of low hips. The GS line in the US should be terminated and GS form. Europe should be introduced in particular from East Germany and Czechoslovakia.
