What's your favorite win?
I've been watching this show since the 80s. Today's show is so much easier. And probably on purpose to have more winners but man back in the 80's those clues were HARD!!!
And the judge had a hair trigger on the buzzer back then, too.
so much easier than in the 80's. Have to be politically correct these days of course
@@goodpainlive not so sure about that.. when 100 grand is on the line people don’t give a damn about being PC
Nowhere near the difficulty of the original.
Is it me, or are these clues a lot easier than the ones in the 80s?
7:18 The judges are awfully lax here compared to the older versions of the Pyramid. The answer was "Things you Are Afraid of (Fear)" and the person guessed "Things You're Scared of" -- and received credit! They didn't even guess the right word!
everything has to be politically correct. Older shows were much harder and less lax...the good old days.
So cool of Michael Strahan at 12:53 to tell her to read it again.
She misread it as ‘types of sneakers’ instead of ‘types of speakers’.
In the 80’s, those clues would’ve got the buzzer.
“Extremely discounted” would have been buzzed in the old days for “Things that are free”
I would have gone for Costco food samples & Baskin Robin's food samples
@@DarthTaz "Samples" is a good clue.
How could saying "X-ray" not have been an illegal clue for the subject "Things that have an X in them"? That should've been illegal and that contestant should've lost imo
Those kinds of categories are literally the only ones where you have free reign. It just has to fit the category. I know people will say Dick Clark's version has extra rules but I'm just focusing on this version for now. I don't know why you even make that a category.
@@guyfierimtwi Even I commented on this; notice the timestamp of 6:03.
@@guyfierimtwipp POP😊
X ray shouldn't have counted because he actually said part of the clue. I would have sais XEROX, XYLOPHONE, OXEN.
@@donaldmasterson4478 OK then would excite be OK? Exit? Extend? And hundreds of other words beginning with 'ex'. X-ray, although not spelled exray, would have to be good, as it's a word in any dictionary.
Clues are easier these days compared to the 70's version and they are also way less strict about what you can say for clues. Adding the word "ones" after your clue word ("hypodermic ones" would have been a no-no back in the day.
25:16 *VANDELAY!!! SAY VANDELAY!!!*
And *you* want to be my latex salesman!
Could the show be any easier? The 80's was not a participation trophy game show.
I'm going to be honest, to get buzzed for saying random things is bad(it doesn't fit the category)
12:05 Her lucky charm/post it sticky note paid off! I actually watched this episode recently on Hulu. The civilian player wrote "I have $100,000!" on three of them.
The winner circle rules sure are more relaxed than on dick clarks pyramids IMHO. There have been a number of times i think a clue would have been buzzed in dick clarks version that are let go now. Descriptive clues not a list and synonyms for instance. I havent watched many episodes and i do like strahan as host(anyone better than donny osmond), but i also cant see him running out and saying wait wait wait, if bells start going off and he knows its going to come back cause of illegal clue. Or i cant see michael in a situation like the "things that are mounted" clue in clarks version.
Vanna White is on wheel of fortune
HaHaHa!!!
Believe it or not, she was a contestant on TPIR way back before Wheel of Fortune.
But never got on stage!
this fool really said "tampons" for kinds of pads lmao.
AWESOME COMPILATION! How about a compilation of big wins on Press Your Luck (2019)?
6:07 Purest moment of bro excitement since Barry Jenner and M.G. McCormick in 1987!!
The price is right clue was the most lest know fact about vanna white. Im supprised he remembered it.
I think he meant it as "I was the hostess on 'The Price is Right'" which is totally wrong.
@@jmiller297 This is wrong; she has been the hostess of "Wheel of Fortune" since 1982 and appeared as a "Price is Right" contestant two years earlier.
I think he just got his game shows confused and incorrectly said "Price is Right" instead of "Wheel of Fortune." The celebrity guessing the category correctly anyway further proves my hypothesis that the celebs are given the answers ahead of time.
@@BobbyBaylor Game shows can legally be rigged, as long as the contestants, including celebrity ones, as well as, depending on the game show, the host and announcer, are NOT in on it. Also, the contestants, including celebrity ones, cannot be related to anyone connected with that game show. So chances are, it was a lucky guess.
X ray shouldn't have counted because he actually said part of the clue. I would have sais XEROX, XYLOPHONE, OXEN.
Plenty of short words ending in -x would have been good clues - fox, mix, box.
A lot of them say one word in a phrase and are given credit for it. " Cities in California" when the answer is "Things in California" is not the same. There are so many more. That's not the way I remember it. It used to be harder
I was going to say the same thing. Came here after watching a '78 episode. People were also much smarter then with more complicated clues. But yeah, you don't just say "igloo" for "Things an igloo would say" and get credit in the old version, for example.
Please. There’s always a key word the contest has to say to get credit. Look at Billy Crystal’s record run where the contestant just said “Shakespeare” for Famous Shakespeare Lines and they gave it to her. Or the famous clip from the 80s where the contestant mumbled “hyphen” right before the buzzer for Hyphenated Words and they gave her the money.
I can’t with this. So many illegal clues. So many ridiculously easy subjects. People giving one word answers when they are supposed to say “things you do with…” or “Tyoes of…”
And Michael acting excited for them winning 3rd grade level games.
Ken Jennings!
What happened to the rules? They're supposed to list. How do they get away with such descriptive clues?
Everything is dumbed down now on this show.
Why are the celebs answering the questions? Weren’t they ones asking in the past?
I think its up to them(as a team), wasnt it always like that
@@guyfierimtwi On the old show, it was the contestant's choice. Most of the time they opted to have the celebrity give the clues, but not always.
The contestant that won with types of speakers should not have won. Michael should not have told the contestant to read the clue box again. If the contestant mis reads it that is too bad but the host should not help a contestant in that manner.
Yeah they shouldn't do that I think they should only do that after like 10 seconds. Not immediately
@guyfierimtwi this should not be done at all. A contestant mis reading the clue box is a part of the game. On GSN prymaid a celebrity mis read a clue box. The box said countries and he started naming continents
@@janetbelanger5757 yeah actually just dont tell them
Oh bullshit!! Dick Clark used to say "read it again!" all the time.
Things with an X
A treasure map
A tic tac toe game
The last part of the alphabet
A former lover
Xanax and X ray should not have flown
It said "words that contain X". X-ray is illegal, but xanax is not.
These winner's circles are SO much easier than in the 1970's and 1980's versions. Society has been dumbed down so much that they HAD to lower the bar.
Excellent compilation! Thanks for posting!
At 10:10 to 10:15, whether that contestant knew it or not, Vanna White was a contestant on The Price is Right back in 1980. Sadly, she never made it out of Contestants Row. But the bottom line is, his partner got it.
I knew Vanna was a contestant on Price is Right, but sometimes it's funny how the minds can connect even though you'd think otherwise.
Dick Clark would be proud of Michael Strahan
I have another question. What are your favorite game shows?
Minute to Win It.
Press Your Luck

Lingo(Original)
There are more too
@2000sGSNandOtherStuff-hs7gx Like the first one.
Vanna White is not on the price is right
She was a guest I believe once back then
She was one of the first four contestants to be at Bidder's Row on an episode of TPIR back in 1980; she never went on stage to play a Pricing Game (not even Now And Then [now called Now Or Then] [which debuted in September of that year]).
The reason "X-Ray" was not buzzed is because although saying the word X-Ray requires you to say "X", which was part of the clue," it is in fact a word that is pronounced "X-Ray". Technically speaking, when you say that word, you are saying the SOUND "ex" and not the LETTER "X". In this way it would be no different than if you said the word "excommunicate". The SOUND "ex" is part of how you say the word.
X ray shouldn't have counted because he actually said part of the clue. I would have sais XEROX, XYLOPHONE, OXEN.
@@donaldmasterson4478as I already explained, his use of “x” in the word x-ray” was not a use of the letter “x” any more than pronouncing the word “xerox” would be literally using the letter “x”. The fact that the pronouncing of “x-ray” requires the “x” sound to be made with your mouth is not the same as saying the letter “x” as part of your answer. If for some reason he had said “exam” he would also have said the sound “x” as part of the word… it’s the same. Understand?
I love this show.
Watching this is like being a hopeless junkie
X-ray should have been buzzed
No... The category was Words with 'X' in them... The $25 000 Pyramid has the same type of ruling with UCLA for Universities/Colleges. You cannot list anything in the category Words with 'X' and not promently use 'X' as the clue
@@DarthTaz literally said letter X - this should have been buzzed i think
Some of season six was shown on GSN, only on Wednesday nights and stopping at episode six.
omgoodness!!! this was fabulous!!!!!
List of celebrities shown includes:
Russell Peters (who I know from "25 Words or Less")
Wiz Khalifa (one of the most popular modern rappers)
Ken Jennings (who I know from "Jeopardy!")
Joel Mchale?
Lauren Ash (who I know from '25 Words or Less")
Jeff Ross
Rosie O'Donnell
Lisa Ann Walter (who I know from "25 Words or Less")
6:03 Disqualified! I remember seeing that on TV. "Xylophone" would have been another better word option.
This was fun to watch, but you can't tell me that the celebrities aren't given the answers ahead of time. There is NO WAY they could have gotten some of these categories after one clue if they didn't know the answer or had some sort of coaching ahead of time.
Some examples?
Yes, how on earth could someone possibly get Needles from “hypodermics”, it must be a grand illegal conspiracy. 🙄
I'll have to disagree with you a little. There was one episode where it came to the last subject which was "Things That Change Colors." The female celebrity (I don't remember her name but she looks like Tina Fey's twin only with darker hair) said to her female partner, "Come on, girl!" and she couldn't think of a thing to save her life. She was stumped yet I'm sitting at home watching and the only things I could think of were a chameleon and a prism. There also the "Quiz Show Scandals." They'd probably never get away with it.
Since the scandals of the 50's game shows are heavily regulated by standards and practices. There is 100% no malfeescnence in game shows
I doubt it. These categories are so easy. The original Pyramid was much more challenging (and much more fun to watch).
Awesome Compilation! How bout $100.000 Pyramid (Winner’s Circle Wins,Seasons 1 2 3 4 & 5)?
If I had access to those seasons I would
@@guyfierimtwiWell you can! Just Go through the seasons and you’ll find the episodes that have the wins.

Weird. It’s like they’re fed the answers and act like they’ve thought of it. The emotion of winning - over reaction, overacting. This game is fake.

The contestant that won with things in a castle should have been buzzed for an illegal clue. A moat is located outside the castle and not in the castle. A moat is not a clue that fits the subject,. The contestant should not have won in this case. Any thoughts let me know
.
The judges usually don't buzz for things that are pretty close but only technically wrong. But in this case, I don't think it's wrong. A moat could be considered part of the castle fortification. Also, there are some castles with moats inside the outer walls.
The clue box said things in a castle and not parts of a castle. Here is a good one to debate. The clue box said "Harry potter terms". The contestant gave the clue J K Rowling and was buzzed. I think it was a clue that should have been allowed. Any thoughts
