I have rode an elephant and I can tell from experience you are not riding that thing, that thing is letting you stay on top of it. I also have rode a bike, a car and a horse so I can tell you that you naturally associate these things with the idea of speed and a great riding experience. I agree with Mammoth as a power move but that could have been a development in the plot where he intially goes to fight the Wendigo but loses and also has his ride (a faster animal) killed so he notices a herd of mammoth and chooses the biggest one to take down the villain.

That's actually really cool, Ghost Rider is awesome. There's only one problem. That's not a a Wendigo, that's a yeti. A wendigo is a lot more animalistic in appearance as well as looking undead and having antlers.
