    I low-key think Armand is so good at gaslighting that he even gaslit himself to believe that he had no part in Louis suffering. Anyways thanks to divorce maker Daniel we now know the truth.

      I really love how the show portrays actual narcissistic behavior. The vampiric seduction angle is so deeply ingrained into the genre that it's rarely interesting, so bringing it back around like this is such a breath of fresh air.

      But there's something flawed with the script that didn't make sense. Armand didn't want to kill Louis as Daniel suggests as he later released him from the coffin and stayed with him for 77 years. This is a logical plot hole so makes twist rather contrived. So no gaslighting but weak writing.

      @@jonfreeman9682 I don't think Armand ever wanted to kill Louis, I think it was something he thought he had to do/obligated to because of the covens rules. I think the whole betrayal was due to the fact that Armand was shackled to the coven and its way and chose what he knew rather than what he wanted.
      I think that lestat saving Louis was when he realized that Louis did not have to die (thus saving him from the coffin). Mind you we saw this happen before with his first coven/cult. Where he wanted them to stop but felt like he couldn't until lestat came and did the work for him.
      as for the 77 years I think he stayed because he did genuinely love Louis. and that when I say gaslit I mean he truly believed that Louis had forgiven him for the abuse (failing to save Louis, Claudia and Madeline, letting Louis suffer in San Fran, and then erasing his memories and selling him a different story). I think he was so lost in the sauce that he thought it would've all work out.
      I don't really think its weak writing maybe not the strongest or maybe we don't have the whole story because the show keeps showing us how the story changes with different pov. But I do think Armand had mentally distanced himself from the things he has done to Louis. that doesn't mean he didn't love Louis nor does he it mean he didn't play a part in harming Louis. it just means he was lying to himself as mush as he was lying to Louis that their relationship was fine and healthy.

      Armand is more powerful than Louis. Remember Armand can fly and can stop time and can do mind control. So with his powers he can easily overpower Louis. Daniel implies that Armand was trying to kill Louis just like Claudia and it was Lestat that saved him. This says Armand is a pretty confused guy. He doesn't even know if he wants to kill Louis or not. Armand didn't fight back because the truth is out and he doesn't want to hurt Louis. If he wanted to Armand can kill Louis but vampire life is a lonely life. Of course this whole story is bonkers too. Like that show trial Lestat never died so technically there should be no murder trial. And if anyone wants to kill Louis that would be Lestat as he's the victim he would have the most motivation to want Louis dead not Armand. So the twist that Armand wanted him dead and Lestat saves him because Lestat wanted to gift happiness to Louis to be with Armand? Huh? That's the reason Lestat gives at the end? It makes absolutely no sense. Not sure if this twist is in the book but irrespective this is a plot hole. Or logic hole.

    2:51 He doesn't FORCE Lestat to help him dissolve his coven, he MANIPULATES Lestat into doing so. He FORCES him to come to the coven by taking Nicki so that he CAN dissolve the coven. It's an incredibly important detail and distinction, it shows who Armand is.
    2:56 There is no bargain to dissolve the coven in return for teaching him a gift as you imply. It was Lestat tricking Armand into thinking they love each other and will be companions for the rest of their lives and once Lestat had what he wanted, he left. Not sure you actually understood the show...
    3:07 The coven members scattered, lost their minds or killed themselves. The ones you see in the crowd were curated and gathered by Lestat as a gift to Armand to open his theater.
    5:47 Armand didn't ASK Louis to tell him about Lestat when the time was right. He kept nudging and nudging MANIPULATIVELY to get Louis to admit it and when he couldn't take it anymore, he nudged a little harder and Louis had to outright say it.
    You really really didn't understand MOST of the manipulation Armand did...

    If Armand was strong enough to throw a vampire around, then Louis would not have been able to physically overpower him in Dubai. His power has always been his mind gift and his ability to tell stories and fantasies to justify his behaviour, even to himself.

      @gildatheplant Місяць тому +2

      Armand absolutely is strong enough to throw another vampire around. He could've easily punched Louis through the wall if he wanted to. Armand didn't want to. Despite what a lot of the comments here are saying, Armand does care about Louis. It's just that by the time he realized how much he cared, he'd already destroyed any real chance at a relationship. When Louis throws him into the wall, he knows it's over, so he lets him go.

    • @Mercuryoconnor5980
      @Mercuryoconnor5980 Місяць тому

      @@gildatheplant Sure, show Armand may be stronger, he is however different from book Armand. Book Armand is easily overpowered when he is attacked physically ie Roman Coven and by fledgeling Lestat at the Tuilere's when Armand was 300 years old (and both were turned by children of the Millennia and Marius was presumably stronger than Magnus having had Akasha's blood, so there really is no reason Lestat should have been able to overpower Armand but he did). The only time we see Armand defeating someone physically in the books (from my memory) it was when he threw Lestat from Magnus's tower, but Lestat had been burned and drained of blood and Armand was controlling him psychically. Armand probably has the strongest mind gift out of the known vampires. This is how he fights. And if he truly cared about Louis, he would not have murdered Claudia and Madeline. Louis was something that Armand thought belonged to Lestat and he coveted him, as one would an object. Although to be fair show Lestat also treats Louis as an object "I gave you to Armand".

  • @dranixrush3306

    That's the thing, I don't like the direction the series went with this. Armond always had the objective to attain Louis' affection and attention, at least within the books. Armond going out of his way to spend years controlling and loving a man he was willing to let die makes no sense, whatsoever. He had Louis, there was no point in what he was doing. He could have left the coven and lived his unlife relatively unbothered. I was too clear if axing the coven was the main goal, but him just leaving would have had better results.

      @ravenkushner Місяць тому +4

      I agree with you. I think the show needed to get Armand out of the way definitively and without question so that the main Lestat-Louis relationship could be preserved. I think that's also why I never saw any Jacob-Assad interviews by themselves. In my opinion, they never wanted to let that relationship have any validity so that it didn't compete with the stars. I get it, but it did make Armand's actions more baffling than in the book, in which Armand was devoted to Louis.

      @@ravenkushner Yep, which is very disappointing. These guys are writers, this is their art. And they're ok with letting this shit hit a screen?!
      This series (television wise) is a mixed bag. Great cinematography, good writing here and there, and great performances/characterizations. But man! There were some bad decisions from aspects of Louis that were removed which are strong indicators to what we know draws others of his kind to him. His humanity. Instead now, the only thing I can tell him apart from every other person is that his ass is super melodramatic which makes him hard to swallow at times. Claudia's dilemma/agony is a little less believable due to the age presented in the series. Neither actresses play a convincing child. They seem like they are in the latter, if not mid point of their teen years. Claudia could easily excuse herself as a young adult.
      Then there's some of the wokeness in there. At least, I was detecting it.

First, when they accepted Claudia into the coven, Armand was about to set Luis on fire… but he spared him. Then, he released Luis out of his banishment (slow death by starving) from the coffin. Lestat allowed Claudia and Madeleine to be burned but did save Luis from immediate death by the sun, so that he would be banished into the iron coffin. Armand saved him by letting him out. Years later, crazy Luis, who obviously suffered trauma from Claudia’s death (which neither Armand nor Lestat! prevented although they both could have!!!) went into the sun. But again, our favorite beige pillow Armand prevented it. Without Armand, there would be no Luis! Armand is a monster, but so is Luis, and so is most definitely Lestat!

    Read the book, it's better. In the book they are not lovers. But, it good Armand is really really good and not wanting everybody to know what he did. They put two books together like Queen of the Dam.

      They're companions pretty much from Claudia's death to the modern era. The only (major) difference is that rather than their relationship ending through violence, it's through apathy. Louis just stops caring about anything and it drives Armand away.

    What I'm confused with and I'll ask this question on several channels, and no one can really seem to give me an answer as to why Armond rescued Louis from the crypt? He could have left Louis there to die, since he was going to let Louis burn on the stage. I'm not understanding why Armond brother to go back and save Louis, or was that Lestat too? I really need clear answers.

      He knew Louis would take his revenge on the coven, so Armand would be free to do what he wanted. Especially with Santiago now being their leader. Basically his plan was to save his self from the covens wrath by getting rid of Louis and claudia. When Louis was saved, I think he realized that Louis would get revenge against the coven, thereby saving himself again but also freedom.

      That makes perfect sense, I was really trying to understand what his reasoning for saving Louis if he was planning to let him die. I was even wondering if Lestat was going to come up with a way to try and save Louis, because it seemed crazy to save him from burning only to let him die a slow death. Maybe Armand contacted Lestat just like he did in 73 and Lestat may have been the one one. Just like Lestat helped Armand get free from the coven before. I still think Lestat had more to do with getting Louis free. Because Armand kept telling Louis to leave not to stay. It would be crazy if we get another flash back and see that Lestat had more to do with saving him. And Armand changed that memory in his mind too. Because Armand sure knew where to find Lestat. Sorry this is so long but this shows just how powerful Lestat really is even in a weakened state Armand and Louis together were not strong enough to take him on. They both lit fire in there hands but didn't even try him.
