      @traceler 8 місяців тому

      Perhaps one of the key issues to brake free is to learn to actually SEE the past as valuable regardless all the traumas and bad things that some of us went or are going through.. It will be gold if we ACTUALLY realize, integrate and actualize that as a living fact. It will make all more easy. Otherwise we will keep living repeating similar patterns ( called Karma because is a wheel that perpetuate itself from our inner habitual tendencies over and over suffering).

    Dr. Hardy, once again an incredible video filled with many gems.
    - What I focus on expands.
    - My thoughts are always a choice.
    - I can choose to believe good things.
    - I can choose to reframe past experiences.
    - Ask myself, “How was my past an asset?” “How was today an asset to me?” “How have my experiences served me?”
    - Journal the gains and what I’m grateful for on the daily.

    Here to vouch for the audiobook - the extra interview content is so valuable! I've listened to "the Gap and the Gain" several times and this isn't even NEW info to me. There's always a new nugget because WE are different each time we go over the material. I have placed a journal under my pillow to capture the 3 good things about my day so that there is NO excuse to not journal. I make up my bed first thing and tuck it in daily.

    Thanks to you, I do this at the end of every day. I frame it as '3 Things I'm Grateful For Today' & I also note '3 Things I'd Love Tomorrow'.

    Qualia - like attracts like!
    Notice the good - allow good to expand!
    Last 30 and first 30 min in a day - reflects what you worship.
    Journal - write down three things that well in a day.
    Framing as positive or useful - turning perception to have a positive impact on biology!
    Positive past and exciting future.
    All experiences are reconstruction.
    Can increase skills in learning and improving direction.
    Past as asset instead of liability; don't let past drag your present.
    Inputs -> Processed by you (get better as a processor) -> Output
    Choosing the life you want -> Understand and take responsibility!

      You've summarized some essential points from the video effectively. Recognizing the importance of positive thinking, gratitude, and framing experiences in a useful way can indeed have a significant impact on our lives. Also, the idea of using the past as an asset rather than a liability is a valuable perspective for personal growth. Keep applying these principles to shape a positive and purposeful life.

    What if you aren’t making sufficient progress towards your goals. Will this practice lead to complacency?

    • @dr.benjaminhardy
      @dr.benjaminhardy  8 місяців тому

      Great question! The practice of operating from your future self isn't about becoming complacent; it's about aligning your actions with your long-term vision. If you find you're not making sufficient progress, it's essential to revisit and adjust your goals, strategies, and daily actions. This approach encourages adaptability and continuous improvement, ensuring that you remain on a path of growth and development rather than complacency. It's about staying committed to your vision while being flexible in your approach to achieve it.

    I do this every night in a "Three Good Things" journal. I just write down three good things that I did that day, and it's amazing how quickly you are able to come up with three good things that you've done that day. Sometimes they're small and simple, sometimes they're big and dramatic. But it's surprising how much pleasure there is in the small things. You might not expect that there would be as much as the big, dramatic good things, but there often is.

    • @dr.benjaminhardy
      @dr.benjaminhardy  8 місяців тому

      Certainly! Shadow work is a valuable approach to address self-sabotage by exploring and understanding unconscious aspects of ourselves. It helps individuals uncover hidden motivations and fears that may lead to self-destructive behaviors. While it can be challenging, seeking guidance from a therapist can provide a supportive environment for this introspective process, ultimately aiding in personal growth and alignment with one's future self.
