He's so absurdly better at this game than me that it really does make me feel better to see him struggle on Margit too. Only a little though since I struggled while using the jellyfish and the NPC summon while he is using neither.
Sometimes I'm 100% convinced he does certain things just to tick off the people watching. Like feeling a strange urge to full-clear areas when his priority should just be gaining ground, or just not paying attention to obvious things, or making the same mistakes on fights, or disengaging lockon and immediately dying because he also turned the camera away from the thing attacking him, or gathering up like 5 giants because I guess he thought he could take them all on at once??? Charisma of 10, Perception of 1.
That’s really awesome because now you have so much content to go back and play if you ever want to. The dark souls trilogy, blood borne and Sekiro are all great games in their own way. I highly recommend blood borne especially man. Also I see you are a man of culture as well lol. Diablo 2 is one of the greatest games of all time IMO
I hope you stuck it out. Beating your first playthrough with no summons is the best feeling in the world. You truly are the boss of the game when you do that.
the rotten stray is op summon, it always leaves some sort of poison debuff just like the Jellyfish but more aggressive.. was laughing so hard at 2:49, that ballista clip you every time you jump that ledge. there's a lot of special items locked by stonekey. there are also a lot of things to do in that castle.. especially below deep deep down.
What's hilarious is that my favorite part of Demon Souls was the mind flayers blowing flames through their hands and their weird tentacle faces... Amazing to watch This game is still incredible and the Shrimp men so far are hilarious but I can't rule out that Mind flayers don't exist in this game yet either.. I'm still watching this stuff trying to learn how to progress to new regions and what the equipment is etc..

i always see people talking about the "first experience" with souls games, but to me, i fell in love with the games by my 3rd maybe 4th try, as i got used to the controls, and knew where to go. that's because, while i love the exploration, its the build diversity and how i could make my character play that drew me in. its funny remembering my first time with the game, i dont think i lasted more than a couple of hours, and yet, now its one of my all time favorites.
Probably already been mentioned, but Demons Souls remake was (a.) not open world and (b.) PS5 only compared to Elden Ring being cross-gen. Agree that the DSR visuals were on a different level, but I don’t think you can really compare the two.

This just really shows how Fromsoftware can't be outdone on the souls-game formula after spearheading it. Other game developers who did similar mechanics or just outrageous difficulty to boot, mostly have no say when it comes to making epic Boss fights. Amazing!
The best thing about FromSoft is that a rarely, if ever honestly, feel like the game and bosses are just being unfair. The games are just well designed in every aspect.
While I'm all for Bluepoint helping From with making their games, I think the premise Max uses to make his point is severely flawed. There was no way Elden Ring could ever match the fidelity of Demon's Souls Remake, and it wasn't for a lack of talent or ability, but rather a completely different scope and set of circumstances. Demon's Souls Remake was created upon the skeleton of an existing game, and 95% of Bluepoint's job and resources were strictly devoted to making those existing bones as pretty as possible. So yeah, of course that game is going to be mind-bogglingly pretty: that's their one job. The actual core game experience remained From's work. On the other hand, Elden Ring is a completely new IP. The majority of its resources were devoted to creating an entirely new world, new story, new mechanics, new assets, new new new. Of course, From reused a LOT of old assets to ensure that they didn't compromise their scope, but for the most part this is a gigantic new game (with bone fragments from old games tacked on) creating a much, MUCH grander overall experience. Making the game pretty was important, but that goal remained a fraction of a much greater whole. And indeed, the entirety of Demon's Souls could probably fit into a densely packed corner of Limgrave... and that's it. You could probably fit ALL the Soulsborne games into Elden Ring's world and still have a little room for a few Soulslikes. The scope of this game is so unbelievably vast that the notion of having graphical design and fidelity on par with Demon's Souls would require an exponentially larger team with exponentially greater resources, while potentially taking focus away from the core gaming experiences that makes Fromsoft games so great. If Elden Ring looked as good as Demon's Souls but lost 90% of its content, then it would... literally be another Demon's Souls Remake. And finally, this is a multiplat game. Bluepoint has been kicking ass by maximizing the processing power of a single dedicated console, and both the Shadows of the Colossus and Demon's Souls remakes are pinnacles of graphic quality for their respective generations. But you're gonna have a hellova time replicating that experience on multiple platforms and varied hardware. And indeed, Elden Ring DID have a hellova time replicating that experience on multiple platforms...
Yeah they unfortunately changed the drop where it used to be into something else in an earlier patch. Not quite sure why honestly but they did. Sucks you can’t get one until Leyndell now and you have to farm it

The fact he missed the save point right after the lion had me on edge the whole damn time.
3:19:53
Elemental HERO Flame Wingman has enter the game 😂
The way Max says "thanks" at 1:00:13 totally cracked me up.
Max falling to his death against goddrick was amazing 😂😂😂
the musical score when fighting a boss in this game is divine
Damn, he missed like 90% of the stuff in the castle.
Crucible Knight was kicking his ass lol. That spinning slash was giving him hell
As I watch this video, today, after fighting the Crucible Knight of Stormhill Evergaol on my first playthrough yesterday. I stayed there and fought him until I beat him and I felt TRIUMPHANT. Fought him with an early game samurai build. Two handing the Dismounter then using the Uchigatana w/ Storm blade in phase two. This took me from 9:30am till 2:45pm I was determined to say the least. All those reps have me feeling like most people are easy now even though I don't do the damage needed 😅
man, when i fought Godrick i have not realized how cool the music in the background, its freakin epic, gives me old God Of War vibes. :D
Godric is absolutely EPIC!
Forefathers and all, BEAR WITNESS!!!
You forgot the “one” but it just makes this comment fucking hilarious
I beat Godrick on like the third try, but then some seemingly easier optional fights I'll die 100 times lmao.
Same, I'm stuck in a fight with 2 onion heads in a small room, seems impossible, but the major bosses I killed in like 3 attempts
Same, I spent 4 hours on crucible knight and he keeps eating my ass. Dumbass snake tail keeps getting me
@@frobish2018 Same happened to me, until I realized his second phase has no openings. Just parry him, it's way easier (killed him on the first try trying to parry)
@@DXYS95 he's open after the tail swipe, after the double tail swipe, after the flying stab if you have a range weapon. During this phase most of the openings he had during the last phase are covered with tail swipes. If you don't realize this it looks like he just randomly does tail swipes after his strings
Sewing Needle ahead, therefore Time for Dark Sews.
This guy took bonding to a whole new level with the grafting thing.
I can't believe how long and how far he went with that shitty sword. And no one told him to put the stone swords in the gargoyles to remove fog 😱
2:44:45 The irony of wondering if anything in inventory will heal and then looking at every item in his inventory EXCEPT the item that would heal him.
3:29:15 That music sync was nice!
Legit spent my entire day watching all of your Elden Ring gameplay vids. You make the game seem rewarding and fun to play. I'm going to have to add this one in my library. Keep 'em coming MAX!
2:45 stairs made me laugh so hard for five mins - absolute troll Soft.
“There’s a cliff right there” lmao 🤣
2:58:12 winner winner chicken dinner. Nice survival dude.
NPC at the gate “You should take the secret path into the castle because the main gate is gonna be hella guarded and they’re ready for you”
Max: “Yeah but no, open the gate”
Also Max: “this way sucks”.
Love the play through so far, you’ve rejected the golden path every opportunity you get lol
He's so absurdly better at this game than me that it really does make me feel better to see him struggle on Margit too. Only a little though since I struggled while using the jellyfish and the NPC summon while he is using neither.
I hate the fact that if he wasn't always talking and trying to be hype all of the time he'd be even better.
2:56:01 *“Look at him trying run away* 😂
I spent DAYS in Stormveil, that place is insanely massive.
After 3 videos of Elden Ring he still didn't realize that in order to open the White door you need to interact with the Gargoyle statue 😅
*EXACTLY I BEEN WAITING FOR HIS TWITCH CHAT TO LET HIM KNOW BUT THEY DON’T TELL MAX FOR SOME REASON.* 😂
And he ignores the statues next to those thore even when the interact icon pops up. I'm sure he's figured it by now lol
This is actually my first souls game. I love high fantasy Rpgs. It reminds me of when I first got Diablo 2.
If bluepoint do a bloodborn remake, that gonna be a dream come true
That main gate run gave me some serious Takeshi's Castle vibes.
Damn max is going to miss like 80% of stormveil castle.. that sucks. He would have appreciated the level design of the interior. It’s fantastic
These bosses are so damn cool. I'm trying to get through the game without summons, but man is that going to get tougher to stick to...
Amazing to watch
This game is still incredible and the Shrimp men so far are hilarious but I can't rule out that Mind flayers don't exist in this game yet either..
I'm still watching this stuff trying to learn how to progress to new regions and what the equipment is etc..
These fucking stormveil soldiers are serious marksmen. Picking him out of the air like he's a tennis ball. Damn...
Damn I didn't realize how much of the castle you skip by going in the front. Also didn't realize how much Nepheli made a difference. Didn't know she was an option.
2:44:46 you go through every single item in your inventory, except for the one that actually heals you😫😭🤣
Best game made this year, I've been playing it and I'm not that far ahead and already 10/10 for me.
It’s only february, theres not been many games yet
@@Blearcord I’m 50 hours in and this is easily gonna be GOTY. Not a single game that has dropped or will drop can match the scale of the open world in this game. It’s actually TOO fun
@@Mako01010 I’m 50 hours in and it has an extremely lazy open world. There’s so many reused bosses not even just reskins, they couldn’t even be bothered to do that. I can’t wait to be done with it unlike previous souls games which I would play again immediately, I doubt I’ll ever play it again.
@@Blearcord Elden Ring is a colossal disappointment. The open world was a huge mistake
Max was so in awe that he jumped himself off a cliff 🤣🤣🤣
Me while max is trying to fight his way through the stormveil front gate without touching the site of grace right next to him with 10,000 runes: max, why are you trying to fight your way through stormveil front gate without touching the site of grace right next to you with 10,000 runes??
If he's not playing a fighting game, he does a lot of dumb shit. I was smh during his whole castle run
There's a boss underneath that castle as well
i always see people talking about the "first experience" with souls games, but to me, i fell in love with the games by my 3rd maybe 4th try, as i got used to the controls, and knew where to go. that's because, while i love the exploration, its the build diversity and how i could make my character play that drew me in.
its funny remembering my first time with the game, i dont think i lasted more than a couple of hours, and yet, now its one of my all time favorites.
3:20:20 Legendary
lmao
Max Skipped half of the Castle
Did max explore the whole castle i didnt see him go under it
For crucible knight, using stamp upwards cut when he dash stabs at you causes him to miss and you get a big hit on him. That’s all I used to kill him.
Don't hate on flails, they are OP on horseback.
Did it take a while to actually check the item descriptions?
Probably already been mentioned, but Demons Souls remake was (a.) not open world and (b.) PS5 only compared to Elden Ring being cross-gen. Agree that the DSR visuals were on a different level, but I don’t think you can really compare the two.
love godrick fight. not really a fan of fast boss fights like margit. i find godrick much easier and satisying to beat. uchigatana and venom enchant did it for me.
I was really unlucky against him, almost beat him first try but died to a mistimed dodge, then I got a bit tilted and made so many mistakes it took me half an hour more to beat him lmao
@@diogoarez9574 yup that is what souls game do, when you think you almost had it you will sometimes take more time beating the boss. thankfully the trip back to the boss is near compared to older souls game.
@@yellowcard8100 margit is much faster for me with his projectiles. godrick moveset is esy to follow and dodge. hit and run tactics work fine with him while i rarely got a break with margit. his only dowmside is he get staggered a lot. migh change my mind after i replay him again.
The music is one thing they nail again and again. Love the soundtrack, just wish i liked the game itself..
The whole path through the castle to finally arrive to Godrick is great. Taking the shortcut feels more like an NG+ kind of choice to make but ok, It's not my game experience after all...
This just really shows how Fromsoftware can't be outdone on the souls-game formula after spearheading it. Other game developers who did similar mechanics or just outrageous difficulty to boot, mostly have no say when it comes to making epic Boss fights. Amazing!
Only souls clone I like on the level of the souls series is nioh 2
Hurts me to see Battlehammer in his inventory this early
ME WANTS
Yeah they unfortunately changed the drop where it used to be into something else in an earlier patch. Not quite sure why honestly but they did. Sucks you can’t get one until Leyndell now and you have to farm it
29:00 ... JUST ANOTHER DAY FOR A MONSTER HUNTER PLAYER..
If i cant experience this game for the first time again, than ill happily watch like 100 hours of someone elses first experience
Literally bone thugs in harmony LOL
Very glad I went the sneaky way
Max, you truely are one of the most entertaining content creators out there. Hopped into the latest playthrough just to see how you was doing then linked back to here to see how you handled Stormveil Castle as I went through it last night. Here I am 2 hours later still watching instead of playing....keep up the amazing work.
Not that it matters Max But You need to Up Your Arkane to +21 in order for Poison and Blood to Work effective
Yeah beat this guy with about 10 attempt at the help of my jellyfish and the warrior girl, then finally my bleeding effect did the job. Best game I ever play these 2 years since RE2R
3:20:15 oh my god this almost killed me LOL
From what I saw, you can’t play passively against the Crucible Knight. As he’s way too agro.
you mostly can, just gotta parry. but if you're not parrying as melee, then you have to scramble quite a bit
I never liked souls type games, but man something about this one just clicked for me, I love it
For me its the feeling that i don't have to beat my head into a wall of a boss to move on like in souls game. I can go off and make meaningful progress if a boss is giving me a hard time
My character is mainly strength and Faith.
Im able to one-hand wield the colossal stone halberd with lightning spells+dragon
what dragon ?
@@JMartini810 the dragon spells: fire, claw, and bite
DOOD, getting Margit at roughly a 1/4 health is pretty good for a first time.
This game harder than getting the ps5 itself. Damn.
