The randomization of merchant is so brutal and yet so hilarious. I can imagine him just popping up in the middle of a horde of enemies just chilling in the middle 🤣
Since the first video dropped, I downloaded both the HD project and the randomizer. First run I started with an Egg and a Mine thrower, but the merchant had both the Red 9 and the Striker a chapter in, and at very cheap, so I haven't had nearly as bad as a time as Max has with his merchant luck.
Mine was Broken Butterfly at the start. Have to go through all the way before I get to the Shotgun using only knife because the magnum only had like 6 bullets. I only use the magnum to shoot medallions that out of reach for shotgun's range. And after I shot all 15, the Punisher is unlockable on Merchant. I don't know if that apply for all randomizer.
I wonder why his chat didn't tell him the merchant was selling a pistol the whole time. Does he not know what the Red 9 is. Or maybe I missed something, he was scrolling pretty quick
I mean, the TMP is one of the most useful weapons in the game against normal enemies, so it's not too surprising! Tons of ammo for every drop you get, great at setting up for melee moves and knifing them afterward. It may not do much damage per shot, but it doesn't really need to, it just lets you save the big guns for stronger enemies that need them.
It did but he became a bit over reliant on it especially on the infamous two crank Ashley sequence. When he could have just quickly dealt with the minions on Leon with the striker so he could be ready to help Ashley with her mobs. The time sink in kicks and suplexes that extended the health bars of those on Leon is why it was so hard. Just a case of just going with your strongest and quickest gun ammo be damned and deal with that.
You know what, that wasn't even El Gigante's grab animation, that was the animation from much later in the game where there's 2 of them and you can climb up to the zipline. And if you stay up there for too long he shakes the platform. that's the animation he's doing
2:35:14 - 2:37:35 was hilarious. The regenerators ended up being easily avoided, but still it had me rolling how that entire area was devoid of enemies, replaced with harmless traps, only for the ragged breath of the "most infamous enemy in the game" to suddenly appear
For those curious about what happened in the barn "Big Cheese" Bitores boss battle: -The boss's second phase spawns 2 "enemies" which are his upper half (the actual boss) and his lower half (which remains motionless, but unfortunately is the one replaced in the randomizer, meaning his second phase is always him + a random sidekick). -Also the El Gigante "glitched" grab is actually just the attack he uses in the fight against 2 of them above lava in the mines, it's supposed to be used when you're on the unstable tower with a zipline, but it's his only attack when you're above his eye level, hence why El Gigante kept spamming it. It doesn't deal too much damage, but Max had zero health whenever he got hit; also you can generally stay out of its range if you stay close to the walls on the second floor. Finally, if it knocks you out of bounds, you can head back into the barn but don't try to leave the area back to the previous zone, the entrance to the barn is sealed shut cause Bitores twisted the bars so you'll be softlocked since you need his eye to continue

Liked how he said “I’m gonna sell Ashley”. I added to that: “Sell Ashley for a God damn HG”. Literally carrying so many HG rounds and NO HG?!?! That’s what I would’ve sold to have a lot more inventory space. The main question if I was Dood would be: “WTF happens if I don’t get an HG before the end of the game”? Answer: “You were holding onto HG rounds for nothing and prevented yourself from having inventory space”. Loving the randomizer so far especially when he screamed for nothing because he wound up not fighting El Gigante but a form of the Grande Queso and fled just to comeback and there’s no más Grande Queso. Did the Grande Queso decide too that he wasn’t gonna fight Leon? 🤔. I can’t wait to see Part 3. And I was told about what happened. My condolences to Dood and JJ for their loss. 💔🥺😢😭
I tried this the other day and man, Max was just really unlucky. I had just chickens, snakes, or those little walking plagas that die in one shot on like 3 of the village areas. And once I got to the castle there were guns for every ammo type.
I inspire to be like Max, Max makes the impossible, possible. It's crazy man, if I was in he's shoes I would rage quit and never return to the game. It's fascinating how he can pull this chaos level shit off. And also keeping a cool head even tho he dies alot.
