Geez some doctors are so arrogant... just check the patient and move them on. Going to the doctor isn't a bad thing, thats also how you catch more serious issues.

...that patient just took a slot of someone with a more serious issue 'just move them on' 🤣

@@AM2K2 You don’t know that. That’s the point. That’s why you go to the doctor. It’s a false argument and pointless topic for GMB to fill air time

A good health service would have the capacity to see both patients at the same time @@AM2K2

It’s just to perpetuate the stereotype that the young generation is weak and back in the old days we were mentally & physically tougher, blah, blah, yawn, yawn, eye roll, eye roll.

If studies show that young people are truly a drain to a bleeding system & yet you don’t want to discourage them from frequenting the doctor. Hire a nurse to triage them. Have them fill out an electronic questionnaire prior to the visit with quick questions/quick answers. It’s gets triaged by a nurse and the nurse gives them advice. Stubbed your toe 30 minutes ago? ace bandage, ice, comfortable shoe, walk as tolerated. Holler back, if no significant improvement in 5-7 days.

I'm sorry but acne can be painful and you can suffer with poor mental health. The fact that a doctor just made light of it is very disappointing.

Often this is due to hormonal dysfunction and needs to be treated by a specialist by looking at any hormonal imbalance, diet etc. acne could be an early sign of something going wrong which can be treated easily in the early stages but if left it will cost the NHS a lot more down the line but the GP lady here clearly cannot be bothered

Shaming people with medical concerns and discouraging people to seeking medical help. What an awful take. Though this doesn't even surprise me at this point as many NHS GPs act like patients are wasting their time for being unwell or having concerns about their health. This isn't anything new

Acne can be a medical condition that requires a Dr. This Dr should be ashamed of herself. There are people who waste Dr’s time from all ages! Many elderly people go to the Dr for so-called trivial things as well.

Just because there is stories of people going to the doctor for silly things doesnt mean young people should be stigmatised. Crazy.

So young people shouldn’t to the gp for proper answers but also shouldn’t self diagnose or self medicate? Shall we all just pray we never get ill then 🤣

OK, if I can't go to the gp because my illness isn't problematic enough, why am I paying taxes that go to the NHS? To make it more affordable to boomers that have been gatekeeping my career or what?

I would be so upset if my GP was as condescending and unpleasant as this lady. Coming to national TV and mocking her own patients is highly unattractive.

You describe Young people that get GP appointments as offenders. So much for journalistic neutrality. You have no idea what is discussed between a GP and their patient. This is just more deflection and distraction from a funding issue.

The irony here is that even if you do go, even if it's for something serious, there's no help anyway 😂 in the UK, there's no help unless your about to die/on deaths door but even then your lucky if even then you get help.

Getting to see a GP is like getting tickets for Glastonbury, Keep redialling between 8.00 and 8.15 and if you're very lucky you may get through.

so your shaming people when they want to go to doctor most cant get to see their doctors because the receptionist doesn't think you need to. some times someone goes to the docs for minor issue but it could be the thing that gets them to open up and talk about something else

  • @MoonlightForest

Doctors should tell patients the truth if they feel that their reason for attending is pointless. Explain to them why and how they should handle minor medical concerns going toward.
Problem is every GP treats patients differently, (due to personality not experience) There’s the ‘softies’ who unknowingly create an environment whereby patients take advantage of the system. Being too kind and too concerned isn’t always helpful. Then there’s the other type who are harsh and often insensitive driving patients away when they should be seen.
We have to find a middle ground to change how Drs interact with their patients; honesty would be a good place to start.
