    Good that you guys supply Demoulas. I always look for the locally grown products when we go shopping there (in Somerville, MA). There are some from the Conn. River Valley in Massachusetts also. Supporting local producers, even if it's a few cents more, is always good policy in my opinion. Have you guys been shipping by rail out of the region? I know they were moving potatoes from Aroostook County to Washington State a couple of years back by rail. With CSX now owning the former Maine Central lines and them doing extensive track upgrading, the service is getting better and better. Good stuff and hopefully a portent of better days ahead for the State of Maine products. Good luck. Happy Holidays!

    Shane says, “Beautiful.” We all look at Molly. There are so many steps that make a packing line run accurately, smoothly, and cleanly. You are teaching your audience, and doing a great job. The bag of potatoes the consumer buys at the grocery store has such care in just the bagging process.

    We never wash our potatoes and they last from Sept. when we dig until April…sometimes May. We always save enough to plant in May and haven’t bought seed potatoes but once in 25 years. We grow enough to hopefully get 4 bushels so we can share. Enjoy your videos. Susie in the Blue Ridge Mts of Va.

    Such an infectious smile and a beauty set of pearly whites. Molly, your filming and editing skills and narration get better all the time. After watching here for quite a while now I'm amazed that a humble bag of potats can be bought for such a reasonable price. I'm pretty near to you in southeast New Brunswick. 50lb bags are going for 8-10 bucks. Astonishing when you think of the millions in equipment it takes to get from farm to table. I suppose it's all about the volume. Cheers from your Canadian neighbour.

    Interesting video. How do you deal with insects/animals in the warehouse/packaging ares shown in the video?

    • @BellsFarming
      @BellsFarming  Місяць тому

      Hey there, spiders and small fruit flies tend to to be the worst of it as far a insects go. In the summer heat If we leave bad vegetables,potatoes or corn husks around we will attract some fruit flies. But we try and dump all the barrels we use for that stuff daily and they get some disinfectant too that helps.
      We had a skunk get into the corn packing area a couple summers ago, that was a stinky experience! Luckily we do not have a problem with rodents in the building. They are obviously outdoors, but we try and keep the grounds clear of clutter and keep the grass cut in the summer, these are the best deterrent for rodents. We do have a local company monitor our pest management program. We use bait boxes outdoors and have some tin cat traps in the building to catch anything that does make it in. Good question! Oh and Bessy is the head of pest control hahah.

It just takes a second to wind up in the ER. it just takes a second to tie it back and tuck it in her shirt also.
