Ich denke auch, dass Felix ein eigenes Messer mit seinem Namen zusteht. Wo lernt man sonst so viel über diese Messer und wie man sie effizient nutzt und nicht nur in der Vitrine bestaunt?!
I have watched others explain this technique, but your video is the first that completely removed any questions and fears. Thank you. Can't wait to see the blanket/anorak video. 😁🇨🇦
(60 years ago), My Dad came home with a "SEWING Awl". It had straight and slightly curved needles and a bullet shaped clamp cup that held them into the handle...that held a small stainless steel bobbin of really heavy sewing thread. He read the instructions and taught me and Mom to use it. I taught my wife and daughter to use it and now my grand son. It worked just like the way you used the Swiss Army Knife. I hadn't thought of using the hole in the awl for sewing. Thank you for that nice instructional video! YA LEARN SOMETHING NEW EVERY DAY ! Dad would say. The day you DON'T learn something, is the day they'll plan on dropping dirt on your coffin! Bill from Tn. 🇺🇸
@@FelixImmler , Your videos make me happy too. Each time I hear "Hello UA-cam" with your little accent, I already know that the next 10 minutes will be the greatest of the day.
Vielen Dank !
This is without a doubt the clearest explanation of sewing with the reamer I’ve ever seen, beautifully illustrated. Thanks for posting this, it also will help me to remember the correct direction for the cutting edge of the reamer by keeping the corkscrew topside right edge, that way the awls automatically facing the correct way. You see? I’ve even managed to make this little bit confusing lol unlike Felix, my defence is I’m only firing on two brain cells
Thank you ! We learn so much from your videos! With all the knowledge I get from your channel my Victorinox is way more than a knife, it’s becoming an absolute multi tool. The more we know the less we carry Mors Kochansky said. Can’t wait for the next one 👍
I can barely understand some of his words however this gentleman just explained cross stitching in an easier and more understandable way then I have ever seen. That cardboard technique to explain loop stitching was brilliant.
It doesn't get any more better then this explanation right here! I am so grateful for you and your knowledge Mr.Felix you truly are someone I'd want to be close to when the world gets itself into a SHTF situation! A wealth of knowledge with you there is! Thank you! Cheers, Jerbs 👍🏼🔥🔪🔥🇨🇦👍🏼
Not only have you taught me how to sew with a Swiss Army Knife’s awl, but you just taught me how a sewing machine works- something I never really understood until now. Thanks, Felix!
I have used a diamond bit to chamfer the inside of the eye on my sewing awl in order to protect the cordage from damage from the sharp corner. This is how all regular sewing needles, machine or hand, are made. My oldest Victorinox, a Craftsman I bought in 1985, did not have an eye in the punch awl, but all my Champion Plus knives do. I say "all" because I have purchased a number of the Champion Plus knives on ebay (because they were discontinued) and am giving them to my children and grandchildren. The Champion Plus model is preferable to me because it isn't as bulky as the Champ, and I much prefer a totally separate pliers. The Knipex 125mm Cobra is a great and compact companion to my Champion Plus.
Love the information from you. I like the Swiss Army knife has a tooth pick. It’s not just for picking teeth but you can use it instead of the nail to help form the loop. 👍🏻
Dankeschön Felix. Das waren ein paar gute Tipps! Gerade im Winkel einzustechen um das Material an der Naht stabiler zu lassen. Und dein Hinweis auf das nächste Video...😍
I love you sir. you are the swiss army master. i know my knife so well now thanks to you. Also the hook is amazing i never knew it could do so much. for real the company should hire you to make the videos. People watch this guys videos. he's really talented with the swiss army knife.
Great video thanks. Good technique and demonstration. Plus shows how handy having a Victorinox SAK & having some cordage like string, jute twine, paracord or bank line when bushcraft emergency come up. And more good uses to have few nails too.
Lieber Felix, vielen Dank für die ausführliche Demonstration. Ich dachte mir immer schon, dass es so oder so ähnlich funktioniert, aber jetzt weiß ich wie es richtig geht. Top!
i know 2-3 sewing techniques, but also i'm using this technique and i agree that this one is the best.nice the trick how to sew when the material is weak.Greetings from Greece.
That was great Felix, another use for the reamer, 9 years ago I used the reamer to puncture a series of holes in a large and two small steel cans to make a rocket stove! I have it in my hand now and the point and blade of the reamer are still sharp!
I watch a lot of your videos but I don't always comment and I've been subscribed for a while. The example with the cardboard was a fantastic idea! And the threading tip was a really good one
Thank you so much. Exactly what I was looking for. You are a terrific instructor. Some university should grant you a honoris causa bachelor degree in educational science :)

I really enjoy your videos keep on doing them ! But I would like you do do one on how to properly sharpen the edge of the reamer please for mine has been through some tough work and needs to be re sharpened .
Great explanation of the sewing awl! One observation - the "working end" only needs to be a little longer than the material to sew, as it is a straight line along the seam. The looping side is going to use up more material due to the loops. This could be a critical issue if the thread/ string is in limited supply, and the looping side runs out before the end of the seam.

Haaa ha haa super. Thanks a lot! 🤣🤣
Now I see why some sewing needles have the hole near the tip.
Really. I always wondered about that.
Lmao I know! Probably the same for a lot of other people too. 😆
