Sounds like Music is his passion , so he can still learn to play an instrument
Exactly!
Yes !! just what I was going to say My mom learned to play piano at that age
I agree. He should learn. There's heaps of music schools or even just on UA-cam
Not necessarily, when you get older, your fingers get stiff and lock when curling fingers, your vision fails, your hearing wanes. May be too late for him. Time goes quickly, do not wait for anything...
@@loanokaharbor8303Yea it all depends on his motor functions and brain power. Maybe he has a steady hand and could learn a bit. Some you see get real shaky and whatnot in the old age but then people like Ted nugent are still cleaner than ever in the 70s. But learning from scratch might be too hard at such an age having less hunger and drive or energy to focus into it on top of the pysical and mental impairments. Probably no time left to get where he really wants having the passion would take 5-10 years to get good enough on something like guitar to be able to express himself on it his own free way that he seems to have in him. And taking 5-10 years that’s when your in prime let alone already 70. That old you might be lucky to learn some campfire chords and jam a little. But anything’s possible everyone different.
I want to give this man a hug and pay for his first music lesson. I’m 25 and have been struggling with so much self esteem to learn guitar again because I feel like it’s past my time. This guy made me realize I should just do it! I hope he gets to learn an instrument!!! I know how you feel sir!!! Music is everything !
Past ur time? 25 lol? U kids😅 just stfu and play.
Hey hope you are well! I know this comment was posted 8 months ago. I’m almost 24 myself, and I taught myself how to play guitar during covid!! 25 is so young, you’re in the prime of your life and youth. Hopefully you picked up the guitar, God bless!
Because he thought his parents couldn’t afford a musical instrument so he never asked. What a good considerate kid he must have been. Parents would do anything for their kids and he didn’t want to put them in that position. He is still a gentleman to this date.
Yes,most kids dont think that way now, im 75, my parents had 6 girls im The oldest thought that about a lot of things
@@markeelyons8060I greatly disagree. I’m 21, and when I was 13 my dad passed. I used to play a lot of sports and play a lot of instruments, but I kind of bounced around them. At 9 I started figure skating, and I dropped everything else to do it as my only hobby, I loved it. Not long after my dad passed, maybe a few months, I realized I shouldn’t be putting my mom in the position to have to worry about ice skating, because I knew it was expneisve, and I quit. I still love ice skating to this day, so much, and wish I could’ve kept on doing it, but I knew I did what was best. If I had access to a skating rink now, and the money, I’d go every day.
If a lot of kids don’t do this now, it’s because their parents don’t show them that they might not be able to afford their passion/hobby. That’s not true for every situation, but I feel like for most. Also I feel like hobbies/passions are more accessible now. They’re not cheap exactly, and parents aren’t really better off financially than at the time he was a kid, but things are more accessible, such as after school sports, buying cheap instruments on Facebook marketplace or eBay, buying cheap paints and paintbrushes at the dollar store, all that. So previously, while parents might not have been able to afford to give their child those things, passions can still be stoked by finding alternatives.
At 73, my piano playing father finally got to take piano lessons to learn how to READ music. He had always played by ear and learned from his mother. He put me learning as a kid ahead of himself, and I love him for that. It's never too late to learn, be blessed y'all
Love this!
So awesome 😊.
I’m not even 30 and I already regret not learning an instrument while in high school.
It’s never too late to learn my friend, I highly recommend giving some instrument a shot. I recommend guitar or piano. learning a few chords and scales would be a wonderful place to get you going.
30 is still young to learn an instrument
don’t worry too much and just enjoy it:)
Do it now. Lessons everywhere
The university of UA-cam will teach you for freee
If your BIGGEST regrets are travel & instrument, that means you really have a lot of other things to be thankful for 🙏
That's a very astute observation. Spot on.
or maybe he is just selfish and doesnt regret worse things he should have said
@@180FiftyFive 😂 DAYUM
Or he’d rather not disclose the big ones on camera.
Thankful to who?
He's not dead yet, he could still learn to play a musical instrument.
@Iqbal Arzoo what do you mean?
Sure, but with arthritis in your fingers/hands could be the reason, plus, your eyes aren't as strong; I'm 63, the injury on my right thumb won't allow me to play my ukulele more than 10minutes per day. Truth, be well ~
He can... but then he is greatly sacrificing his other time, and at his age. Time is probably very important. Learning to play instruments would take hours every day. Probably to him for how long he's lived he feels like he doesn't have the luxury of time anymore so probably just tries to spend time creating memories with who he has left in life.
Exactly! He should do it.
Somebody start a go fund me. For these people
THE PAIN OF DISCIPLINE IS WAY LESS THAN THE PAIN OF REGRET
I pray this guy take up a musical instrument. My oldest student is 76 years old. It's not too late! You can find plenty of upright pianos FREE on craigslist. Go for it! Piano is the gateway for all instruments. Start a YT and keep us updated. Blessings
Thanks for this
Thank you, since I never could afford to take lessons, I never learned to play an Instrument. Now you gave me an idea. By the way, I turned 60 just yesrerday, and it is a fresh Start to many new adventures.
Don't stop now. Learn to play so you can express all that you feel inside. Art is so important.
He's adorable. I hope he takes a chance and learns to play an instrument. He looks well enough to give it a go, I hope he does. It will be fun.
I finished college without knowing how to play any musical instruments. No one in my family does so I thought it’s normal not to know it, but deep inside my heart, I know that I like to learn to play. When I started to work, I bought myself a ukulele and an electric piano. I tried both but it seems that I am learning more songs easily in ukulele. After 2 years of playing, I want to learn to play drums.
Am into learning musical instruments too even tho I come from a different place..
Btw followed to see if u share little home videos....
Such a sweet man to not want to make his parents pay for lessons when he was young. You are never too old to learn! Please take lessons now! I didn’t learn a instrument for the same reasons. My son showed interest in guitar and he is in private lessons, and loves it! I see many adults taking lessons too! Never give up!
Yes, love your comment. 💙🍃
never too late to start anything
So true! It's never too late nor are we ever too old!
I can speak 4 languages & plays piano. And travelled, too. I am now living in Ecuador. Glad to know that I am doing something good. I thought my life was so boring comparing to others.
Thank you for sharing.
God bless you! 🙏✝️🥰👍
I speak 2, and learning German and French.
68 female, I walk 1-1.5 hrs a day and practice piano few hours a day.
Stopped traveling after Covid-19...
Happily living in a countryside!
CHEERS! ❤❤❤❤
Your life sounds amazing ❤🎉
Just do what you want and forget about age, nice man
At 73 I hope he learns to play an instrument now. He has time. My grandfather started playing piano in his 60’s and passed away in his 90’s. That’s a long run of enjoying a passion he had. Please go get the lessons and put that regret in the past. 🙏
“I feel like it’s in me” these words are so special. My son said this about music back when he was 8 years old and I was home schooling him. I thought it was a silly random thing he said, and then I stopped and thought about it for a minute and WOW the perspective it gave me ❤
My man, it is never too late to learn anything. Get yourself a musical instrument and start learning! We all rooting for you! 😊
Wow, what an insight. Makes me thankful I had parents that encouraged everything I wanted whether they could afford it or not.
It's never too late!
Great reflection
Wow, you were lucky.
Damn wow. This one was real
See how he dosent curse thats called class i wish more people were like this
Awwww bless him. It’s never too late to learn new things.
It's never too late and never too soon to start, especially when it feels true to you. When it feels aligned, it won't take much time for you to master it, since it will feel effortless for you to do it.
Like when some successful people say "I've always felt like I had it in me, I've always felt I could do it" - just let go of the resistance towards it and let yourself shine.
Thank you for posting it and thank you for taking my share into consideration!
I have been following these videos, inspirational!
Same
Awww!! He can still do it!!! He sounds so passionate about it!! Hope he gets to it! It's not too late!!!
My gosh, everything he said was stuff relatable to intelligent people. He just sounded so authentic.
As a Guitarist.. I'll tell you.. it IS the most important thing to me. I feel anyone who plays an instrument..it give you a liberation that cannot be said with words. It's meditation though an instrument.
You know you lived a good life when your main regrets are that you could have learned more and more.
P.s. Knowledge is the key.
Awwwww ❤ that part " music is in me but I don't know how to express it "💔💔💔
Hope someone let's this gentleman know that many public libraries often loan out musical instruments! 😀🎶👍
Wow, i did'nt know that. In USA I presume ? (am in UK). That would be great for him . ☺️💙🍃
This is sooo refreshing, thank you for shining the light on our mature age group.
I hope he picks up that language again and continues to go for music. He still has years and years to come. Never NEVER let your age decide what you do. Your heart is still beating. Don’t let that regret become a death bed regret.
❣️❣️❣️❣️❣️
You're never too old to learn to play an instrument.
The older they are the more personal their regrets become. Less family stuff. Pay attention. Love yourself and go after what you want. You are the priority
“It’s in me but I just can’t express it”
This guy needs a drum set.
Would love to see that! Bet he’d rock the shit out of it😮😮😮
You’ll notice one thing about these older ppl he interviews. They NEVER regret making more or less money.
As long as you have enough to pay bills and have your necessities?heck, time is the most precious thing, not money.
What a lovely man and twinkley lively blue eyes, hope my eyes are still so alive at his age!
What a lovely man and twinkley lively blue eyes, hope my eyes are still so alive at his age!
I can’t believe I stumbled upon this video. I do feel the same as he. Always felt as if I took advantage of public schooling. There was so much opportunity to learn musical instruments or learn how to do art etc. So many options were right there in front of us
What a nice gentleman. Love his outfit. It’s never too late, sir!
I’m regretting losing my musical skills. I need to buy another flute and start playing again.
Absolute is a beautiful instrument! Hope you find one that you like and continue.
Starting to learn how to play a musical instrument will never be too late. As long as you live, as long as you have limbs (some even don't), you could still learn to play music.
Dude your channel is powerful it made me cry 😅
I’m 75, my only regret due to bad parenting, I had my 3 adult kids before I knew what I know now❤️❤️❤️ but I’m a great Nan to 6 grandkids 🙏
There is no age to learn music or any other art you like! 🎵🌟
The hands go away, though.. by my 50s I started to have pains when I worked at my crochet and knitting. Now, my hands do some weird locking thing. Slowly age sneaks up on us and pats us on the shoulder.
One of the biggest regrets of elderly people, is that they lived their lives the way everyone around them expected them to rather then the lives they truly wanted to live
I am a musician and his concern was very valid as even my similar circumstances are what kicked my life into being a student of Finance , not that I don't love learning about it but that is what got me started
Man , this is what you DONT want . Never have regrets . Every choice and occurrence in your life shaped you and continues to do so . If you think you regret something really search , can you fill that void another way ? Cut all attachments...not an easy thing but it IS obtainable and quite liberating to the heart , mindans soul .
It is SO refreshing that a young person actually cares to speak to older people..As an older person, I often feel invisible, hated and disrespected.
Love this series. Profound advice from wise people.
I like how honest this man is . He could still learn to play an instrument. Also, he can still travel he not that old .
If those are really his main regrets, he’s done better than many! Relationship and people regrets/mistakes can be the toughest.
I want to hear more people's think of themselves. Thank you for making this video! Sorry for my English!
"I feel like it's in me but I don't know how to express it." I think his statement sums up what's going on with most people. Well said Sir
As a 65 year old woman my biggest regret was giving men who did not deserve the benefit of the doubt, the benefit of the doubt. What a sad waste of time. Although I wouldn't be here if I hadn't been there. I was young and lovely and now I older and lovely but still the men who come my way are weirdly self absorbed and just want sex. I am so done!
And the crazy thing is it’s not too late for all of the things he regrets. I hope he realizes that. He can still do it
I'm young, 20, and i never learned any instrument when i was in school, maybe because my parents aren't much connected to music (i don't blame them), but i started on my own... Bought a second hand electric keyboard with some money i had saved and started to "learn" on my own, as a hobby. My point is, even tho i didn't learned to play the piano when i had "the best chance" to do it, i still managed to do it on my own, and i know if music was something i really wanted to pursue i could get better at it if i got the mindset to do it.
I believe you're never too old to learn new stuff, it may be harder or not, but i strongly believe it can be done.
You got this sir
What a lovely and gentle soul
Never too old to play music keep living keep jamming
I like this answer. It’s something he actually thought about not a stereotypical answer like some of the previous responses.
He could learn to play the trombone, it's fairly simple, but has a nice tone. My dad picked one up in a pawn shop, and I ended up playing it in the school band. It was so easy, I never had to practice.
Travel when you're young. When you're older, health, family obligations and inertia start to take over in ways you'd never expect.
Not speaking from experience but you need a tremendous ear to play the trombone. If you want to make funny noises I guess it's alright
A French horn is murder to play, but once you learn the slide positions, a trombone is very easy. I played for years, and our band took first place in Chicago after only two years.
It's never too late as long as your still alive!!
It’s never too late till it’s too late.
Believe it or not, he still can pick up that instrument and learn to play now. Never too late
Sure, but with arthritis in your fingers/hands could be the reason, plus, your eyes aren't as strong; I'm 63, the injury on my right thumb won't allow me to play my ukulele more than 10minutes per day. Truth, be well ~
@@suzanneblaylock9598 true, I mean hopefully that's not the case for him. Thank you for that point, it made sense
GOD BLESS YOUR SOUL,ALOT OF FEEL LIKE THAT.
Hey, he can still learn to play an instrument. Go for it! My dad had never played a guitar in his life. He became totally blind unexpectedly at 84 years old, and he started taking guitar lessons. It was difficult, and he never really got good at it, but he loved it.
It's never too late. Go for it!
I am a senior..74, The husband of one of my friends is learning to play the mandolin. I really admire that.
We gotta start a gofundme to get this man some music lessons ASAP
This interviewer better tell the old man that it's never too late to start. If he really want (especially now that he has no other things to do in life), he should get into music now.
I think the channel is really useful for us to understand what really does matter
“I feel like music is in me, but I don’t know how to express it.” - that’s exactly why I picked up an instrument at 21 after my first real heartbreak. By 22 I was playing shows and opening for some well known artists in the underground scene. . .
I’ve since let that go because I’m solo-parenting in my early 30s, but it’s nice to know you can pickup an instrument and experience the cathartic release of creativity still. Plus, my kid thinks I’m the coolest. 🎸
Taught myself how to play guitar using Tabs. I'm not the greatest but it feels good to read the fret board and mess around
He can produce sick beats maybe that’s the instrument he’s been waiting for.
Such a graceful person. Best wishes from Pakistan. I love your UA-cam channel. Amazing job you are doing .
It’s never too late to start working on your dreams
I would be happy to help you learn, if I can. There is always enough time for things that make us smile. Life is good
can we find this guy???? He’s a whole vibe❤❤❤Can we Flash Mob a Jam session for those that wanna tune up their lives????
Old guy telling his parents didnt had money, so he couldnt do this or that is sad.
But I agreed his tellings and concluded, go learn whatever u want. Do whatever u want.
I’m with him on the not learning a musical instrument, but I think there’s def still time for that for me
NEVER let age stop you from learning an instrument. You will maybe not become a pro. BUT, you will love doing it! Do it!
If a man that is as old as him, regrets not learning an instrument is because of grand kids.
follow your passion guy's
I just found out that my dad has been pronounced dead and when I found this out I was at school and my phone was in my locker so I couldn’t know this, so in between my classes I checked my messages, and saw that my mom had texted me, and told me the news. I was crying the rest of the day, and the teacher told me to be quiet in class, but I just couldn’t. She then saw me crying even more and yelled at me to shut up. I cried even more after that and sent me out the door without even asking me what was wrong. When I was walking home, I just stood by the lake near my house, and cried. The funeral will be held next to that lake because what his favorite thing to do was take me down by the lake and take me fishing. I remember the time where I caught a big fish, and when he tried to help me real it in, he fell in and we both were laughing so hard that I fell in too. I miss those times, and I hope that I can see him again. I loved him with all of my heart, and miss him so so so so so much.
You can still learn 🥺😢
Should we all pitch in a dollar to get this guy a keyboard at guitar center? Like 499 or 600 one
Wow...I shouldn't take my blessings for granted.
“It’s in me but I don’t know how to express it” is exactly how I feel about dancing. This just inspired me.
Regrets are not for something we DID, it is for things we DIDN’T do.
I’m 21, I started beat-boxing about a year and a half ago. I remember when I was 14, I was supposedly learning to beatbox, didn’t even last a week because I thought then that it was impossible and I believe it was just a little phase I had at the time because I had just discovered it. 7 years later at 21 years old, I randomly decided one day that I was going to learn to beatbox ‘again’ and I stuck to it and have really thought a lot about it since. It’s become a part of me. As long as you’re well and alive, It’s never too late to learn something.
I understand, always wanted a drum kit. Shame on me for not getting one. Did take lessons at around 10, but was very shy with no confidence.
It's never too late.
Maybe he could learn something now, 73 is far from over,, a piano teacher I know just started a 81 year old new student,, he should treat himself!
What a nice man!😊🧡💛💜💚💙🤎♥️
Sweet Elder!
My biggest regret is when I was a kid I thought every human was equal, but I was wrong.
it has been the most painful thing to wake up to the truth about the world, the ultimate loss of innocence.
@@adjoahossou454 yes I agree with you...If only our parents, teachers, societies had told us or at least had be honest about it, I could have gotten strong connection with powerful people or at least started build strong relationship with them.
He can still learn, I wish the interviewer had said that
He described how I feel “music is in me, I just don’t know how to express it “
This was (and still is to some extent) me as well! I loved music but had no idea how to make it so I started playing piano (learning basic stuff from UA-cam) about 2 years ago and even though I haven’t had time to practice the “fundamentals” of piano as much as I’d like since starting, it’s opened a door of creative expression that I’d been keeping shut for far too long! My hobby now is actually making instrumentals/beats on my computer using FL Studio and I wouldn’t have gotten to this point without having decided to learn to play piano. I’m ultimately glad I did it, as music has fulfilled something inside of me that I didn’t know was missing (and is even therapeutic to some degree) and I highly recommend you take the leap and give learning an instrument/music theory a shot!
@@beingandtime that’s crazy cuz I just bought a piano of Amazon a week ago. So this is inspiring to hear!
I am 70 years old and I retired 3 year ago for about the first couple of months I thought about regrets in my life. However, once I realized dwelling on regrets at my age is a total waste of time I started to enjoy my retirement. So when asked this question; “do you have any regrets”, my answer is no.
When I was in the NJ Public School System in the mid-90s, every student in K-5 took music class where they taught us to read music. Just like a language, it’s easier to learn when you’re young. I don’t imagine there are any public schools in the US doing that now. Sad really.
I was taught and don't remember any of it. It was later that I taught myself chords and how to play a few instruments. I do think it's a decent idea but at the same time, how many of the kids will remember or use it? Kids today need to learn how to type, code, communicate, troubleshoot tech etc. There are needs today that we didn't have in the 90s, which is why we also learned cursive. Now, there are more important things for kids to learn🤷♀️ the good news is that we live in a time where we can learn anything we want in our free time.
