    I went surf fishing this year and I used shrimp when I went back to the bait shop to get more they told me to try fish bites strips, they were shrimp flavored and they have kevlar mesh in the middle, they are hard to get on but when you do it stays I caught 7 or 8 whiting on one piece and there not that expensive.

    Good fishing but .... those are blue runners buddy in the jack family ! Most of the smaller jacks “grunt” excellent bait for cutting chunks or whole! Put a 7/0-1/0 circle hook in one of those buggers and catch some big fish👍

    The real name for "grunters" is a Blue Runner or Hardtail in the Destin area. They're great Amberjack baits, they also use them offshore for tunas and Marlin. Nice video!

    Great fishing, some advices, when you got a bite, pull the rod up to set the hook, and then start reel. When you start reel in the fish do not stop. At your right you probably would get larger fish, you see that the waves are breacking mutch far away from the coast, theres a rule: More foam more oxigen, more oxigen more bait fish, theres where the bigger fish will be.

      Jim Ringo I can't wait to go back. What a great place and a great time. I can easily see how spending time on Gods emerald shores and surf fishing can become a passion! Take care!

    They have always been called "Blue Runners" not grunters,. There is a whole family of "Croakers" and they all say hello when you catch em. Thanks for the video, I am thinking of trying my hand at surf fish

    Yeah, you can clean UP on whiting and pompano in Destin. We go for a week to Four Mile Village, in Coffeen Nature preserve (read: private beach with just our family reunion and maybe 1-2 other families on 4 miles of coast) and have done for 40+ years. When I was a teen, we'd time our week to coincide with blue crab spawning and we could have fresh crab every night. Catching them with a net and flashlight at dusk while our parents got the crab boil going -fun & delicious. Sadly, the crab are gone. But the fishing, while MASSIVELY reduced, is still awesome. Though we now catch and release. Catch them literally nonstop. Especially whiting. Occasional sharks, rays, croakers, ladyfish (bang 4 ur buck), redfish, snappers, jacks & species I don't know. Once caught a hammerhead, which was pretty damned cool! Brother landed a MASSIVE tarpon, the same year as my hammerhead. (h-head only @ 3 feet, but tres cool)

    Sir, I am new in Crestview and going to Destin Beach is about 45 mins depends on the traffic. Been there a few times and cannot find a good fishing spot. On your video you seems to find a very nice spot to fish. May I ask where in Destin Beach you are fishing and what's the best time. Is the place further north or south. I don't see any high rise hotel and how far do you park your vehicle. Please advice, thanks and really enjoy the triple ! Tight lines

    if you're coming to Destin to fish, and you're not taking you're rods and reels home, I'll give them a very nice home. I hear alot of people throw them away or just put them at the house never to be used again if that's the case just send me a message on here hahahaha

      you got it bro! Just get a bigger rod, a bigger reel, some 50 pounds braided line, 200pounds leader mono, #8 or #10 wire and 8/0 circle hook and you'd be able to catch a blacktip, sandbar or spinner!

      LightRockFishing Valladares what size rod and reel? I bought a 8500 is that big enough for bait like this?

    • @LightRockFishingValladares
      @LightRockFishingValladares 8 років тому +2

      It depends of the line capacity, 8500 might work with some smaller sharks.
      But you need to get some braided line, 30lbs works just fine

      LightRockFishing Valladares exactly what we do! Just picked up a new Penn Spinfisher V 8500 and also the 10500 and get to put it on some salt in 39 days on Miramar. Can't wait and hope to hook up on a blacktip!

      The blue runner, Caranx crysos (also known as the bluestripe jack, Egyptian scad, hardtail jack and hardnose), is a common species of moderately large marine fish classified in the jack family, Carangidae
