Even 5 years after this video was released, you’re helping people.
I cleaned my dishwasher and then it stopped draining. I found that ball inside and thought it was a toy or candy or something so I didn’t put it back in, and it stopped draining! Every other video only says “clean the filter or replace the pulp.”
You literally saved me from doing either. Thank you!

THANK YOU, THANK YOU!! I bought a used dishwasher, said to have worked, it washed the dishes well but was not draining. Ive checked everything, and was afraid I was gonna have to go get another one, but realized the ball was down inside the plastic part and not up in the top like it should. I didnt tell my husband I bought a broke dishwasher, just left the shop vac by the door after cleaning out my car. 😂😂😂 Glad i didnt have to somehow figure out how to buy another one and get rid of this one all in a day. LOL.

Thank you sooo much!!!! I took the filters out to clean and couldn't get it to drain again. Watched this and BAM...found my gobstopper and problem fixed. I'm a single mom and not handy and this helped with my confidence.

When you break off the tab that holds the spray arm, just drill a hole in the lower tube and screw in a stainless set screw to hold in the spray arm. I used a regular #8 screw and cut the end to the right length with a Dremel.

Thank you for this video it helped me out with a work order I had, and I learned something new but what I did different is I out the orange ball from the bottom I Just took it out sucked the water out with wet vac and put the dishwasher on it’s side and I let gravity keep the ball in place and I put the part back in correctly . Was draining finally. Thank you once again

I just did all that & found out that the Pump in my Base model GE that came with my house, Died, So I ended up buying a new one & Installed it, But these videos are very useful, Thanks for sharing knowledge.

It acts as a stop valve and the dishwasher will not drain without it.
