Thank you so much. I thought I needed to replace the thermal fuse or the door switch is what I thought the problem was after researching and all the UA-cam videos. Then I came across your video and found out it the button was broken. I just super glued the metal pc back inside the button and it did the trick. I cant believe it was something do small and such an easy fix. Thanks again.
Thks for video. I see a crack on the start button. Mine had one also and switch was cracked. Just tape it with gorilla tape and it’s back working. Probably going to order a new switch and start bottom though. Thks for video. Saved me some money!!
I just did a similar procedure today. But, I pried the grey button out with a larger flat tipped screwdriver, which came out very easily. Then I twisted the push button switch out and reseated it and pushed the grey button back in, making sure it was aligned.
What I did was pull the part out I did an image search and then I purchase that part that looked just like it. I’m not quite sure what the model number is.
I am having a problem with mine that is a bit different. When I push the Start button it feels like it's trying to start (It makes a noise as long as I am holding it) but it doesn't want to kick over. Could this be the starter as well or is it maybe something else?
That switch has like a little contact played in it that Hass to be engaged to get it to work and sometimes that thing is just not working and you have to get a new one. Good luck. Thanks for watching.
So my button will start the dryer but it turns off as soon as I release my finger from the button… the button has to be held down to keep the dryer running . What should I do?
Are you talking about the rubber part that’s in the front I think it will still work if you can connect it into the holder and just press that little plunger
The plastic lip on the bottom of mine completely broke away after 4 and a half years. No idea how that happened, unless it was installed improperly, the plastic wore out, or maybe my wife hammered the button. Trying to brace it with duct tape, I’ll let you know how that goes.
@@catolicodominicanoYes I was able to use several strips of duct tape torn in half lengthwise to sort of build a cradle to hold the switch flush against the panel. No idea how long that’s going to last, but at least I can start the dryer now. I guess if the tape ever wears out or comes off I can always just open the panel up again and retape it. Still, bizarre cheap design from GE. Can’t say I’m surprised these days though.
My problem is similar. When I push the start button the dryer runs. As soon as you take your finger off the button the dryer stops. So the start button works but won't hold itself to dry the clothes. I held the button for a minute or so then felt the clothes and they were slightly warm, so the dryer works, it's the grey round start button that won't stay on. Any advice from anyone on what part I need to buy and how to fix? Thanks so much!
The Springs in there going so do the Contacts they don’t last forever unfortunately I think they make them that way so you buy new washer and dryer. Good luck thanks for watching.
@@TomLeeman I did this too - the button looked ok, but was not activating the dryer. So I removed the gray button and now we just push directly on the black switch.
This is an issue with these ge dryers. I’m seeing a lot of people 1 year 8 months ago mine just stopped being able to push like it realigned it’s self away from the button.

Thanks mate! This video helped me tons. It made me figure out that the button was cracked and not pushing the switch all the way in.
You're welcome! Thank you so much for watching and good luck on your fix

I think that’s the better way to do it. I did it kind of backwards.
Thank you for posting this! I was able to fix my dryer! 👍
Excellent! glad to hear it. Thanks for watching.

THANK YOU! Mine seems to be just the plastic button? The switch works fine so I just put it back in without the button. :)
Did it work?
