love the video! fujimoto has a unique way of expressing a story through manga and this really puts into perspective fujimotos artistic creativity and ingenuity as a mangaka
Finally a video that just appreciates Fujimoto. I feel like I get to know him by reading his stories, which is something I have never experienced with any other manga. He's really one of the greatest mangakas out there!
NOOO not the gol d roger at 11:05, great video first time i've seen someone go in depth on this aspect of fujimoto and now have a greater apprciation for whatever chapter he draws.

To the point that I was actually annoyed cause I felt like it went by way too fast. But you are so right, the manga just flowed so well. I definitely need to re read soon and go back to appreciate it some more. I wouldn't say CSM is the best thing out there, but this analysis definitely brings light to why this series and its mangaka is worthy of its respect. Chears!
This was a really great video. I loved the way you explained the pannel flow and as an artist, that got actually inspired by fujimoto to draw more comics, I found it really helpful :D
Nice /a/ good manga panels thread bro Joke aside, they way Fujimoto approach manga is like how another highly praised story teller: Hideo Kojima Both of them are really into movies, and might as well makes movies. But, the way they deliver a story can only be done through the medium the peruse, game and manga respectively. You can see it in Fujimoto's rapid pacing, each of the arcs can fit in one movie. Though, there are some weak story in his old one shots, like the one with the piano mermaid or the confessing one. If there's one word to describe his delivery it would be "Cinematic" I do recommend checking out /a/ good manga panel when it pops up, they have a lot of examples even from old ones like Tezuka and Toriyama. Simple panel but the way they flows is smooth like the example given with Oda.
Would love a paneling analysis for Jujutsu Kaisen. I think the paneling is on par with CSM. The way the eye flows in battle choreography and the unique creative panel shapes / sizes / arrangements. I think a "best CSM pages/panels" and "best jjk pages/panels" video series would be awesome.
Amazing video, great editing. I really loved your explanations over panelling and I have to say I agree 100%, Fujimoto's manga are some of the easiest manga to read, even my friends who haven't read almost any manga at all, said that they could just speed right through it because of how easy it is to the eye. I hope this video blows up it was excellent.
It was very good to learn what it is about the art and story that combines to produce a feeling of really engaging manga and you presented ideas, background, technicalities all with examples and creativiity. It helped me understand more about what makes this Chainsaw Man manga tick so well. Thank you.
Great video man. Tatsuki fujimoto is one of the greatest mangaka of all time for me, i read almost all of his manga, and it never disappointed me. Even the silly one kike love is blind. One thing that i also love from him is hoe he utilizing the double spread panel to show Impactful scene. Just take a look at the 'bang' scene in ch 81. At first he build up the tension, make it really tense it feels like horor movie, untill you turn the page and that bang scene in double spread panel popped up. Oh that's so good. Or other example is in look back the dancing in the rain part, it's so beautiful. And it also show how fujimoto very excel in visual story telling, it talk louder than thousand words.
Akutami's paneling is actually perfect in my opinion but it's standard in this video though I was highlighting the creativity of fujimoto he just does it differently than everyone
I haven't read the manga but from the examples in this video, I feel like he has dabbled in animation as a hobby or at least studied animation. I can't precisely explain how but I see animation brain leading to a lot of these examples, especially the ones that both show lots of images of a quick movement and also montages showing the passage of time. If you know you know.
He's known for his love of Cinema. Like he was asked before what advice would u give beginner mangaka he said sign up to Netflix. So yeah maybe he got hardcore inspired by some animation
SPOILER Finally knowing what is behind that door was one of the most shocking moments in media I’ve experienced yet. First Aki and then Power. Fujimoto made a completely normal thing like walking to a door so intense and disturbing even before opening it. Although I didn’t enjoy the reveal at the end at all where makima states that Denji killed his father which the door symbolizes. I get that ”door = Denjis loved ones die“ but that father thing was pretty lame to me. It’s felt cheap because there was literally no build up (as far as I know) and came out of nowhere without any more real impact on the story. Denji was already disturbed so it didn’t change anything and was thrown in kinda random to further shock the viewer without any basis.
The chapter where power dies was amazing. I remember seeing somewhere that there were 18 pages of just leading up to opening the door. and it was brilliant.
I guess Denji killing his father gives a weird reason for makima to "punish" him? Since she said all the sufferings she caused to him is due to the sin he did to his father. Although we know she probably don't care and just trying to break Denji down.
this video perfectly explained why fujimoto is undefeated. it is incredibly impressive that you read and analyzed the way he writes through all of his works. i would also like to say, this is the reason i think that the csm anime will not be nearly as good as the manga - because fujimoto utilizes manga to the highest possible ability. it’s basically impossible to animate some things in the way that they are brilliantly portrayed in the manga.
Yeah I read all of his works as research got this video....... Regarding the anime I think super eyepatch put it best. U have to read the manga but the anime is still really good for it's own reasons they became to separate things and each used their medium to the fullest extent so I think watching the anime shouldn't be a replacement for the manga.
