This evening I have watched Chris Hedges’ Media Sanctuary talk on ‘The Genocide in Gaza’ and now am watching you, Abby and Saul Williams’ enlightening discussion. Thank God for you, Abby, Saul and Chris. Robert Burns wrote of the merits of people of ‘independent mind’. Amen to that!
Keep up the good work for this 77 year old’s sanity but much more important than that - to enlighten people to the plight of the Palestinians and others who are on the wrong end on imperialism in all its guises.

As for the discussion on the Palestinian use of the term "martyr", I'm reminded of the documentary Death in Gaza which was being filmed by the British filmmaker James Miller when the IDF shot him in the neck and killed him in 2003. In the film they discuss this very topic, and the narrator surmises that life and death are so far removed from Palestinian control that they have resorted to the psychological defense of viewing death as a reward given only to those most cherished and worthy. This really made me think.
That documentary was so eye opening for me,i recommend it to people too.

The bombing has specifically targeted civilians and its there for everyone to see. Almost every house has been flattened in Gaza. And refugees? Israel could open ITS borders to refugees. You and I know the truth, Israel wants every single Palestinian dead or off that land entirely. That is the only goal and aim. Hamas is just an excuse to decimate and control the area. There is no Hamas in the West Bank and what do we see? Constant land grabbing, brutal oppression. Anybody who is of sound mental health, even if they are Pro-Israel, deep down knows its a deliberate massacre for the end goal of land grabbing.

Thank you for mentioning the Rwandan genocide of the 90s. Many genocides which happened and people saw on their television which was traumatic enough. These genocides occurred before social media but the survivors stories still live on

We need to have hope because being hopeful in itself is an act of resistance. Those in power want us to feel hopeless, helpless, defeated and that's why they so viciously target dissenting voices. They are frightened that they are losing, and they should be frightened to the bone. Those mostly white old people who have the power to stop this monstrosity and not only choose not to but actively enable it, do not deserve comfort and peace, so keep up the good fight until they're forced to step down!
