    I've been watching your content since I got locs in July. I have recently cut them off, but I still watch you for fun and to support you. I'd say to anybody considering locs to make sure you have a backup plan. = Decide if you will cut them off or comb them out if you get tired of them. That was ONE mistake I made. When I got fed up with them, I just cut them off. Secondly, make sure you know your hair before locs. I didn't. I had relaxed hair, and I decided to get locs. It was a terrible decision, and my hair was super dry and not retaining moisture resulting in my scalp being itchy. Lastly, embrace your starter locs!

  • @acanofswanuniversalgasligh9717

    If ur hair is prone to dryness, what worked for me is moisturising with rice water once a week. Either soak ur hair in a bowl of rice water, and massage it into your scalp, or you can pour it onto your scalp and massage it into your hair. Rinse with cold water after 5ish minutes. Once a week is my specific schedule and I have 3c-4a hair texture btw

    I needed this video about ten years ago. I did it all wrong. All the tips you have given bro are correct.
    Many times I thought about cutting it and start over, but I didn't.
    I'm finally in a place now that I know what works for me and absolutely not.
    Happy New Year and I claim this to be the year to reach some of our goals.

    One thing that I have found with waiting to loc my hair until I grew it out, was that it took a longer time for all of the hairs to fully lock then others. My hair was probably about 4-6 inches long when I started and it seems like it has taken my hair about a year and a half to loc (for the most part). Its very possible I was doing something wrong, as this is my first set of locs, but this is just something to consider for those who are just now starting.

      I actually don’t use the dryer often. Mostly air dry. But in this scenario you want to condition first. The conditioner is always used when the hair cuticle is open. So preferably used while still wet. It’ll give your hair additional protection against that artificial heat as well!

    Good day, just subscribed. Question: l have been natural for 8 years. l just removed braids and my parts are intact and my roots have locked.. l always noticed years ago my hair locked very quickly with braids. Would it be advisable to continue what us naturally happening and let it continue to lock or start from scratch?? meaning comb out the locks at the root?

    • @TPlocks
      @TPlocks  25 днів тому +1

      You could definitely do that, but there could be some minor issues with them down the line. Locs are an imperfect science. You can start them with braids but always keep in mind if you’re not using a method that considers your loc to part integrity over time, you could experience loc thinning, locs you don’t like the look of, or any other random issue. You can start locs from pure neglect. The real challenge is ensuring you like them.

    Hello... I have a question.. I loc'd up my daughters hair. 6 and not 3.. my 6yr old has been loc'd for a little over 1yr and my 3yr old is approaching her 1yr mark.. both of their hair is prone to lint build up at the root. Their hair has always been like that with or without product..(no product build up) how do I avoid lint build up? What can I use to get it out with picking through it..? Thanks for any advice

    • @TPlocks
      @TPlocks  Рік тому

      As a person with BAD dandruff, usually a super soft bristle brush helps me with stubborn lint and anything I don’t want in my roots. Simply part the hair and brush from the scalp down the loc. If done within your normal routine, it can help to greatly reduce the lint.
      I will admit, lint is very tricky!! Some pieces may come out with brushing and others may require hand picking. Some pieces I’ve given up on completely and later found they came out during a wash/ rinse. The brush is really the only thing I’ve found that helps at all. Other than preventing with head coverings.
      Hope this helps in some way! 😞

    My son has two types of texture (some course in back but soft and curly in other places). This makes it easy to come undon even after a year. How often should I wash?

    • @TPlocks
      @TPlocks  Рік тому

      I still recommend gently washing every 2-3 weeks. Consider altering your washing methods and/or two strand twisting or interlocking the areas that are loose in texture. Should help a bit. I recommend using a Loctician if you decided to interlock!
      That being said, I had this same issue. All I did was retwist the locs that would come out after a wash. All the locs turned out fine. Trusts the process! They will loc! ❤️
