So amazing, and love to watch the dogs working as they do. It makes me want to get another pointer since both of mine are older and don't hunt anymore. Love the videos, and what a great new spot to hunt.
Thanks Chuck! 👊 And thank you also for your generosity through Patreon. I have a few gifts I’d like to send you if you like. I’ll hit you up in Patreon messages. 👍
Content is better than any big production hunting tv show that I have ever seen. You are an awesome dude. I hope to bump into you sometime in the Feild. Good luck to you and you have a ton of fans here in Nebraska!
Bobs are a bucket list bird for me! We only have Valley Quail up here, but a covey flush, off a point, of any quail is one of my favorite hunting moments.
Best bird hunting videos on UA-cam! So jealous of all the bird hunting opportunities in the mid west/west. In eastern NC we have great woodcock hunting but you'll liable to walk 10 Miles for one covey of bobwhite on public.
Love watching your dogs work. appreciate that you pick up your hulls and other trash. Just got back from west central Kansas. Very dry and tough hunting. Can't wait to see how you did in Kansas. Keep up the good work.
Thanks for the great content. I really appreciate you leaving in the footage of you missing that covey due to an empty chamber, I have been there more than once! You are having an epic season! Cheers
I remember jumping quail when rabbit hunting or driving dirt bikes where I live. Also would hear them quite often. That was in the 80’s however they are all gone now. I’m in Maryland
Great video as always. The range question is about like asking a group of guys which breed is best.🤣 Growing up quail hunting in North Alabama, we seldom had a field over 40 acres so we bred 40 acre dogs. Sometimes, it was drop the tailgate watch them work a field, if they pointed go to them, if not load up and go to the next one. Keep the videos coming!
Great video. My young Vizsla’s sweet spot is about 150 yards which I’m ecstatic about based on my hunting style. As cool and stylish as hard chargers that go out 400+ yards can be, in a few FTs we’ve outperformed a number of dogs in derby working closer and more methodically quartering ground. Scoring finds the long rangers ran right past.
So Cool! Your dogs are 100% amazing! I Hope you can get to Arizona for some Gambels quail hunting this season! They are a seriously formattable opponent! They can take lead like no other bird I have ever seen! WTF will be a common saying for people hunting them, I promise you!
Dude!! Where is your decked? On a side note, I took my 13 y/o boy with me to MT and he was walking around in his flip flops looking for Sharptails. I asked him what he was doing, and he said this "UA-cam" Guy shot some sharptails in his crocs next to his truck. All I could do was laugh and shake my head.
Love the vids and appreciate the work you put in. Thanks for it all. Would love to see a vid on your dog boxes. My hunt partner and I are already running short on space with a decked system in a Silverado with two individual boxes and just enough camp gear to stay warm on 3-8 day east Oregon winter hunts. He’ll have a third dog in our string next season, would love to avoid pulling a trailer to haul what would end up being minimal gear. Hope you consider.
Really been enjoying your videos! Here in Finland we also use pointers so cool to see other species hunted with them than out grouses. Have you thought about getting a shotcam? Would be cool to see the shots a little better.
I'm thinking about a trip this fall to Kansas. I was questioning the best time to arrive there. The start of the quail and pheasant season is what I'm shooting for. The rifle season for deer season opens up at the end of Nov. If you were there at this time, does the rifle season present a problem where bird hunters and deer hunters compete for land access? I'm going to be pulling a camper trailer with me, so the early-season weather might be more beneficial for me.
I shoot in 4K 60. I have an in-depth video about everything recording and editing on my Patreon page if you’re interested. www.patreon.com/ericforrester
Maybe you should consider doing some real field trials. Possibly look into open all age and shooting dog trials with American Field? Put all the factors together range, run pattern, cast distance and handle. Your meat hunting videos are excellent. Very enjoyable to watch.
Outstanding glad to see some birds with the drought in full effect in the lower midwest!! Can't wait to get out r now that Kansas and Oklahoma are open. Good luck wveryone!!
Oh wow Lovely episode as usual Damn that youtube notifications How i missed when it was uploaded Had to search channel name this time Had not get any notification of this content Arghhh youtube 😡
Nice hun man! So I have few questions for you, as a novice hunter I get intimidated by not wanting to break any laws. I do travel a lot and I was wondering how do you plan ahead for having the right license. Do you always make a quick trip to Walmart or do you buy your licenses ahead? I hate that short term non resident licenses are consecutive days.
Love your channel! Any way you can do a video explaining all the features of the Onyx app? I have it and would like to get the most out of it. Thanks!!
@@ericforrester1 we just finished eating them , my son and I just ate 4 sharpies we did cook them medium rare, I marinated them for 3 hours in Allegro then we had them with cream cheese green onions and jalapeños WOW 🤩 💥💥💥
Eric u hope you charge a pretty penny to whomever buys Riggs. That pup is phenomenal. Personally I hope you keep him. That little dude is going to be tough tough tough to beat.
In all the places you hunt out west, how do you get your young dogs used to barbed wire? I'm taking my young dog out this year and just trying to figure out how to get him to be careful around barbed wire so we can avoid a trip to the vet and a possible emergency.
The go pro looks like a nice tool to go back and watch how the dogs are handling birds. Sometimes it's tough to make sure the dog wasn't moving when the bird flushed especially when you are hunting alone. And I'm not sure why the debate about range, depends on a bunch of factors. Big running trial dogs are great, just remember you have to walk those 500 yards to get to a point, through the cover, up hills, etc. If you're on a horse you can cover that ground pretty quick, this fat old guy takes a bit to get there.
The new spot has some birds the range doesn’t matter to me too much in less it’s a flusher but that’s a given but I agree with you on it you stand a better chance when they are closer gives the birds less time to run far in less it’s rooster
That is my guess too. Either that or northern Oklahoma. I live in Southwest Missouri. I’ve never traveled to the northern part of the state, but I think I should try to go up there and check it out.
You could have called I would have went to shoot on the other side. Next year come up to Michigan so I can take you grouse hunting. Free room and board and food. Don't be shy lol
Come to north Carolina and I will show you wild birds hunting the best wild birds dogs hunting is in north Carolina a place name Fairmont NC my is Gary Jones
I'm confused why range is a hot debate. A fantastic dog should always have dynamic range. If you're in good heavy cover, no more than 100 yards is needed, if the dog isn't finding birds and there's not objective cover to hunt, range is OK. The best dogs I hunted with, would go on point 500 yards away and you bet the farm there are not birds between you and that dog.
Great dog work again as for dog range as a old friend said to me one time son you just got to trust your dog he nos best it’s up to you to shoot them Thanks
It's great to see you pick up your spent shells and other peoples garbage .
Nothing better than watching a GSP point and hold it tell you get there.
GWP not GSP 👍
I jumped and got chills at 6:13 like I was the one standing on top of that rise

Absolutely!
Best working dogs ever!! Enjoyed it all! Great shooting!! Wish I could go with you!!

Fantastic video. The pines and thickets felt like the woodcock and grouse woods up here in NH and ME.

Grew up on Bob White in Tennessee. They are hard to find here nowadays. Glad to see you on this many.
It’s a shame the way their numbers have declined around you.
I mashed the thumbs up 5mins in Awesome video just everything was awesome ! Even the blooper gun not loaded😂🇺🇸👍🏻tons of bobs
Another great one - love to see how your dogs hunt different species!
Thank you!
I used to say I didn’t kill any more quail hunting with a dog, they just didn’t scare me as much when the covey flushed……lol
Bob's are hard to beat!
Her Eric ,Not sure what dog is your favorite , but I love watching tubbs work!!
Another great video...the long range points work because you have taught your dogs to whoa and hold point!! Thanks for sharing your hunts and dogs
Thanks! 👍
In another video youcame up with a fix to avoid the no shell loaded problem. I use it all the time now.
Great to see young dogs figuring it out. Btw possibly good numbers of rooster in Iowa 😉
Was just there didnt see much
That intro is dialed in, Eric!
Thanks! 👊
Looks like Kansas, would have made the video quick given the season opened this weekend. Lots of bird and great quail habitat
Loved the talk on rang. I have one dog with a lot of rang and sometimes I find it good and bad.
Yep… there’s always an upside and a downside.
Awesome video I just subbed got my 1st Bobwhite quail today !

I haven’t been there during rifle season so I couldn’t say for sure.
I live and hunt in Kansas and choose not to upland hunt in deer season. Too much competition and don't want to ruin someone else's hunt.

So we finally got into some sharpies this winter, my question is what is your favorite way to cook sharpies???
You can substitute them for beef recipes and cook no more than med rare. Tacos are always popular at my house 👍
