Good morning Al and Gina! Al, i know you mentioned giving your extra milk to the animals but have you considered freeze drying some of it. A gallon of milk makes one quart of freezed dry , it stores easy and reconstitutes nicely. It can be used in recipes and drank if your cow goes dry. Just a suggestion . Hugs from N.C..❤
Good Day from Kamakura, Japan! 🇯🇵 Hello Lumnah Acres Family & Friends! Al, I’m impressed by the speedy progress you’re making on the workshop! Have a great day and week everyone! 👍🏾🤩🐶
Hello Robert, yes, Al gets things done! Hope you & Haru are doing well!
Good evening David! It’s a lot cooler so Haru and I are enjoying our morning walks. 🤩🐶👍🏾
Good morning Japan
Hello Mr.Robert and Haru-Chan!
Good evening friend 🇯🇵🐶🛐🌟Nice to have seen your garden last week. Thank you.
You can't beat a good Irish Vet, Nurse or Doctor, she will keep ye safe.
Make you some burn piles in each of your paddocks, the ash and the charcoal is a natural de-wormer
That's a nice method. I just read that it works by taking all the water out of the digestive track so the worms die. Have a great week!
@@StoneKathryn Google is your friend : )
Wow Al, the shot of you on the ladder climbing up to cut out the tin for the fan really shows how big the shop building is! :-)
Oh my what a surprise on the Color choices. Black and gray
I Love doing Electrical Work, always have, always will ! I've been doing Electrical Work since I was 16 years old !
I attended a 4 year State Electrical Apprenticeship School in Decatur, IL,2 years Classroom and 2 years OJT !
I'm 73 and a State Licensed Journeyman Electrician - Sub Contractor with 56 years in the Trade and still doing Residential Electrical Wiring, Installation & Maintenance, You're never too old to work if You Love doing what
You love to do when it comes to working and seeing the end results ! I just recently finished the complete Wiring of a 1,800 sq.ft. Custom ''Barndominium'' farm home in Yantis, Tx on a friend's 40 acre farm homestead. Steel frame building with all metal siding & roof and with 2x4 & 2x6 framing on the inside , all spray foam insulated and dry wall, a 2 bedroom, 2 bathroom and a 2 car garage & workshop. 30' x 60' building overall . All Electric.
Al, As I had mentioned before , the Receptacle Outlets for the Freezers should each be on individual dedicated 120 VAC 20 Amp Branch Circuits per 2020 & 2023 NEC Codes !! Also , Run a 120 VAC 15 Amp branch circuit for LED Lights up in the storage loft ! All of the 120 VAC Branch Circuits for LED Lighting can be on 15 Amp Circuit Breakers as LED Lights draw very little current when on ! So instead of running 12-2 NM-B Romex which is for 120 VAC 20 Amp Branch Circuits, you can run 14-2 NM-B Romex for 120VAC 15 Amp Lighting Branch Circuits which will save you money as the 14-2 NM-B doesn't cost as much as the 12-2 NM-B Romex does .
Great Day in the Morning 🌄 !!! Thanks for the Video Diary !!! 😊😊😊 !!! Keep on being yall self !!!
Good outcomes for the animal. Yummy food

You can crush the Ramen noodles in the package. No mess as long as the package doesn't break which it usually does not.
Good morning Modern Steaders. Finally, got some rain down here.
Good morning and have a wonderful day
Gooooood Morning Travus
Don’t forget to use some flexible sealant around the perimeter of the fan on the outside to get a good seal…
DUH, bet he never thought of that😂😂😂😂
Hi Lumnah family, good to hear your Vet schooled in Ireland. I live in Ireland where the veterinarians are well educated and don't charge the earth for services.
If you haven't already done so, perhaps a bead of silicon around the outside edge of the fan housing may help to stop water getting in, if you get rain from that direction.
Good morning, Al. I live in west Tennessee. If you are looking for the best parasite resistant sheep, I recommend Greg Judy. He has been breeding parasite resistant sheep for many years. I used to own goats and managed to stay parasite resistant due to hygiene of the paddocks. Sheep are harder because they are grazers not browsers. Greg recommends 90 days between paddocks to let the parasite load to die off. 22:50
The problem with getting sheep from Tennessee would be how well they cope with the really cold winters they get in NH.
@@colinchick2692 Greg Judy is in central Missouri and it’s plenty cold there in the winter
@@KunesRGr8 May be a great solution then

Gina, Good morning! Just a thought, when I use those kinds of noodles that need to be broken up, to avoid a mess, I put them in a sealable plastic bag and break them up inside the bag. All the mess stays in the bag. Just wanted to share. The farm is looking beautiful. Keep up the good work.
Good idea about the plastic bag with the noodles to contain the pieces... thanks for sharing!

That's a easy supper - couldn't help noticing while the family was enjoying it that the wall behind the couch looks so bare - I think it would look nice if you put up a nice picture or something.

Good morning Al, Gina & Olivia, as well as all the Lumnah subs. That fan is going to be a blessing in the summer to pull the heat out of the building. It does look good from the outside. I do hope all the subs are watching the Friday podcast. It is always interesting to hear in differences between New Hampshire and North Carolina as to what and when you plant, or how you prepare for winter etc. Thanks for sharing the information about the sheep. I am so sorry you lost one. Y'all take care and have a Blessed week.
What happened to it after it died ? Is it now in your deep freeze, all cut up and ready to eat?
Goooood morning Al, Gina, Olivia, and Lumnah Acres friends!😊🌄 It is always a great start to a day watching you develop the homestead and figure out things as you go. Love seeing the little glimpses of the area when you travel. Don't know if it is a possibility, but Greg Judy in Missouri raises parasite resistant sheep. Hope all is well with everyone today! Blessings to all!😊🤩
Good Morning Forrest 👋! Wishing you the same my friend. God Bless!

thanks for the video. Good Morning from TEXAS. Shop and fan are looking great, as well as Gina´s meal. Have a great day!
Maybe buy one or two more of the fans for back up. Nice to have the same kind for the future.
Good Morning Lumnah Family from Transylvania, Romania!

Good morning, Cristian!
Gina, I agree with you somewhat ! Gray looks good on the walls , BUT NOT on a Ceiling ! He should have painted the Ceiling a HI-White Gloss to help reflect the LED Lighting !!
That fan is quiet!!❤❤❤❤
Good Morning Al and Gina! Over your shoulder there Al. About two thirds through the video, after all the rain. The Pond there just off of the gravel ~ between the gravel and ditch. Maybe because the culvert under the second entry needs to be deeper to get a better water flow to "down over there." Remember, start from "down over there" first to set a good gradient for the bottom of the ditch up higher so water just flows "right on along" and to "down over there." A careful gradient study and adjustment would be an excellent video. (just trying to be helpful). Thank you for sharing all that you do. Best wishes. ✨🌸🎄🙏🎄🌸✨. also - thank you for your patience with my "advice." ~ ❤~
I would add another one anyway. Because when you get in a summer time, you're gonna need that. Air flow for the heat pull that heat out.
There is probably some way to calculate the volume of the shop and the rating of the fan to see if a 2nd fan would be warranted. I tend to agree with you as one can always use more airflow to cool things down or to clear the air. If Al starts welding, two fans would definitely help exhaust those fumes quicker and better than just one. Plus redundancy is good in case of failure.
@@samvalentine3206 those fans have a cubic feet per minute rating (CFM) so you'd need to run a calculation on the building, just like doing HVAC where they figure type of construction, insulation, windows / doors, etc to come up with heat loss / gain on the structure itself. That said, this is basically for maintaining temperature. There are also other calculations based on air exchange, usually expressed in "air changes per hour" based on general comfort (homes) or industrial, where a drafty feeling isn't of much concern. For a shop I would say a full air exchange within 3-10 minutes will do the job, but some of that depends on how nasty the air gets. (painting a whole car versus some light welding) Some quick math says the shop is 40x40x12 (average height?) so 19,200 cu ft. Now all we need to know is how much air the fan can move. Guessing near 1,000 CFM so near 20 minutes to clear the shop with a single fan.
@@rupe53 Yup, air changes per hour is a rule of thumb. That shop will be tight with the spray foam so he may have to put a vent somewhere for the air draw or at least have a door cracked. The suggested changes of air in an hour for a workshop is 5. Classrooms are 6 air changes per hour.
@@rupe53 - Thanks Chris for putting the idea into context. Others besides myself surely appreciate it. 🙂
You are lucky to find your supply of winter hay. One more thing checked off. Whew!😊
Just 3 weeks ago Al said that he buys all of his hay from the local feed store so he could help them make money along with the farmer 🤔
Al. You talked about getting a plasma cutting in the future. I am a retired welder and I have used plasmas at my job and in my personal shop. They make a lot of smoke and tend to coat everything with a yellow coating that builds up over time. I only bring this up because a second fan would by strongly recommend.
Thank you for sharing! Have a blessed day!
Great job of exhaust fan Sir Al.
With the roof height you could also just add SILENT thermostatic vents or manual vents.
Gooooood morning all! Hope everyone has a great day!
Gooooood Morning James
This video submission was exhausting, but in a good way. Things are really looking up. I thought about you guys the other day because I was visiting a friend in Maine, and drove right past Scott's Recreation on my way to the Portland airport. Good morning to all from Siesta Key Florida.

Good morning and howdy, Bill!
Sry to hear about the lost sheep Al. ❤
I know that's part of animal husbandry & homesteading. Never gets easy to lose 'em.
worm the sheep tube in the mouth the gun and the sheep are treated been around sheep for 40 years, all sheep are done that way for years
Hey! U should’ve gotten the big commercial attic fan with timer n this small fan would be worn out less than a year!! Good Luck!!!
Gina you need a greenhouse you can grow a lot more things and control the water!
It's always a good video when Gina cooks...
Nice to see ya comment! Have a great week Masspyro!
I would of run a bead of Grey chalking around the edge of the fan where you cut the metal siding to keep any water from wicking in .
George Heller is in Minnesota, he got his original flock of hair sheep from Greg Judy. He also raises beef cattle on rotated pasture. George keeps his on pasture & rotates. He was going to sell some of his flock but don’t know if he has advertised, already sold what he had available. He has a you tube channel & will answer questions & inquiries. He might be a source for you for parasite resistant sheep. Greg Judy would know people too. Part of the parasite resistance is diligent pasture rotation. If animals aren’t moved they will end up with worms. No animal is 100% parasite resistant, it is the pasture rotation management that controls the animals intake of larvae & the parasite cycle & load in their environment.
I'd personally add a second fan now, if only for the sake of symmetry. Even if you just think "maybe down the road," I'd go ahead and get it and store it. If you never install it you have the perfect replacement on hand.
Should have built a box for the fan on wall!
put charred wood in the pasture with the animals, it is a natural dewormer.
Oh yeah! That exhaust fan is fancier than the one I just installed, but a 20" Commercial Electric moves massive amounts of air...lol 😂😅 I mounted one in my attic, in Florida, where the attics get to be about 130° F, and big big difference. Love ya'll ❤
Sorry to hear you lost one. God bless.

The fan was a nice addition.
Great way to start my day, with your family!! It’s always a pleasure watching you work. That rain is epic. I think rain is both a blessing and a curse at the same time. You did a great job on the exhaust fan, looks good. Interesting information about sheep and worms, sorry you lost one.
Love fresh grown garlic, your spaghetti sounds good. What a yummy looking supper. I hope your yogurt turns out fine. Bye till next time.
Al- thank you for always asking for blessings and praying over your food. Such a great example to my family. I appreciate that you show that on your videos.

Spaghetti looks good. Our family also prefers pasta made from rice or cauliflower. As for the workshop, I assume that Al will eventually build some stairs to the upper level.
The workshop looks great!
How beautiful your daugther, and the entrepeneurship you are doing ,God bless you every day , i always see you ,a hug from argentina.
I know the upper area is for long term seasonal storage. I was wondering if you thought about putting a couple of lights in that upper area.
Gooood moaning, hello everybody! Al what did you pick for shop lights? Dark n cloudy out here today. Now for the show! Cheers Edman
Gooooood Morning Ed. I haven’t decided yet in the lights for the main part of the shop just yet
Howdy howdy Mr. Ed! Good morning!
@@samvalentine3206 Howdy Sam, have a good day my friend
@@LumnahAcres I’m also looking to figure out what lights to use, let me know if you would please.
We are having the same issue with farm vets in my area. My old vet went to work for the government.
I raise goats. Stress will also cause them to be susceptible to worms. I always give a goat that is going to a new home a dose of wormer. Same thing can happen with sheep. Always checking eyes.
There are natural dewormers you can feed your sheep too. I know pumpkin and some squash are dewormers for goats. I just looked it up and they say garlic fed to them out of your hand is a natural dewormer for sheep. You can add molasses to it too.
@@StoneKathryn That is good as a preventative, but not for if there is already a worm load. Regular checking is important, especially during stressful times.
I like your channel, I'm a builder/ remodeler. I know you guys are going to repaint The Red door. One of my pet peeves on my jobs is peeling the paint and tape off anything that is painted once it is finished. I know you're going to repaint but between now and then and it would also give you a little light in your barn
Fan looks good. Thanks for sharing
Good morning friends Central California watching
Could have left the top edge of the metal long, as additional drip edge?
Regarding your sheep: Justin Rhodes first sheep died from a parasite load so he bought his second group of sheep from a parasite-resistant breeder. You may want to contact him to see from where he bought the second set. (He's in NC, but I believe his sheep were from further north.)
Unless those fans are really expensive, but if you're even considering one, just buy a spare. Otherwise 1-2 years from now they don't have the same model anymore.
Couple of years ago we fully renovated our house and have now an attic full of spares: bathroom taps, drains, kitchen and bathroom fans, light fixtures, you name it ... :-)
Excellent work and video Al and Gina supper 👀ed scrupulous ❤😊😮
I saw you put water in the pot, next time pour the water in the sauce jar, shake it up to rinse the jar then pour it in. Hope it was good, never seen that kind of noodles.
Good morning Al and Gina
Hi Al Gina & Olivia .That fan will be a great benefit &i should think you will be happy to see the rain stop.
Gina the meal looks gorgeous as always. Take care happy family.
Good Morning Lumnah acres! Hope everyone is healthy and happy! Just a thought - what about a ladder to the loft like your old one - lift it up when not in use and pull it down when you need it. We did this in our storage shed and works perfect! Thanks for the idea!!! Big hugs from Perth Ontario Canada!!
Vents, that can be closed in winter, through the ceilings/loft floor of the power room and the freezer/root cellar room might be a good idea. The power equipment and refrigerators and freezers all throw heat. An intake vent at floor level would let you close the doors and keep the rooms clean and ventilated. In winter, if you close the vent you can keep the warmth in those areas.
Al briefly mentioned that they were not getting much cream from their cow. I wonder why. We don't drink milk or use it much for cooking. I buy a 1/2 gallon and sometimes throw it all or half away after it expires days later. I would be making a lot of butter with the cream though. I don't eat yogurt. I am glad you can use your unused milk for the pigs and other animals. Sorry to hear you lost a sheep.
Sorry to hear about your sheep past on from worms. I hope everything is going better for you two at the homestead area. Your place is looking awesome indeed. Keep up the great work.
10:47 Fan Hole, Safety Glasses
i wear glasses all the time (can't wear contacts, dry eyes) and for about 6 years i ran around wearing safety glasses all the time. it was a pain to go looking for my PPE so i just wore them everywhere. i still have them and though i don't need safety glasses all that often i kinda miss not having them on. the side shields work great for keeping glare of of my eyes. and for as long as i wore those things you just get used to them.
Color the other walls with white with little reflectors in it just enough to lighten the rest of the room❓🙏💕🥰
