Good morning lumah acres family 😊I know everyone including myself is always trying to give yall advice but I want to mention something you might not have thought about, when yall are pouring the pad for the barn, pour a grated channel down the middle of the barn and put metal grates over it so yall can wash down the inside and it will drain out into the big ditch. Just a suggestion that's what we have in ours but we have ours draining into a small rention pond that we drain every so often when it's full and spread it over our fields for fertilizer. Again just a suggestion but thanks for another great video 📹 👍 😊 !!!!!
I rewatched this because it gives us something that is building ; not just destruction in the news ! and ranching is not a good weather type of a job ! good to see you both or all of you understand that fact ! life goes on no matter the weather !...
Before you concrete the barn: I saw barns with a trench down the center, so it drained easier and removed 💩 easier. Idea to look into before starting. Stay dry and safe ❤
Hello Al, Gina and Olivia! Boy, that chicken looked great . Glad the gravel got to come when you needed it. Its hard to do stuff if it keeps raining makes a muddy mess. You handled it well Al. Ya be safe.❤😊
Your definitely going to need a a French Drain, dig a trench straight down through through the driveway,no Dirt , fill it with gravel , down to the hill/Drop off at the end of driveway. If you don't you will always have standing water in that Driveway . Use a Course Gravel in Trench.
Good morning Lumnah family :) You guys have done sooooooo much this summer! Yet, here you are working on something new! That's one reason I like waking up every day to sip a cup of coffee and discover what's new at Lumnahs. :) Thanks for being there! :)
Good morning Lumnah family & critters. Gina it is so nice to seeing you doing so well after all you went through. You and Al have accomplished so much this summer. The building of the 40x40 has been such a blessing for you both. I only wish we could have had ONE OF YOUR RAINS. I enjoyed every time I watched your rain wishing it was ours.
Good morning Lumnah Acres and friends. From Marietta, Ga we’re excited about the new barn project. The sky turned beautiful after the rain. Can’t wait for you to hit a million subscribers ….you can do it!!
We use a lot of drainage piping on farmland here in Ontario. You can run it around your barn as a French drain. Now is the time to consider a path for excess water to weep away from future buildings. After all, poor drainage causes erosion of roads, and fields. Ask anyone with crops that are not productive from soggy areas. Just like the beavers near your culverts. Water finds the path of least resistance. An awesome video!😊 Have a blessed day.
I was wondering about French drains on farms. We live in suburbia and received a lot of running from neighbors. Heavy rains and snow melt would result in 10" on the west side of our yard. We had a French drain installed 16 months ago and we rarely get any puddles, but even those soak down and out within an hour. That drain has been a blessing!
Good Morning Al, Gina and Olivia! Wasn't sure if winter would hold off long enough to get that pad in, but it looks like you have it under control! Always fun videos and inspiring!
You know it'd be so cool is if you got some cute decals to put on your garage door. You can put on one door Lumnah and the other door Acres and then you could have like a cow go to pig and some vegetables on the door or you could put pictures of machinery
Everything is going so well, the doors are spectacular, the layout for the barn structure is looking amazing, grass growing well, and the chicken on the pellet grill makes me want to book a flight from China to New Hampshire for lunch!!! Good evening to all, wishing everyone a wonderful day and get prepared for old man winter. Our weather is similar to the New England environment so it’s beginning to cool off here. Later……..😊
G’day 😊 the weather is crazy everywhere atm! Don’t know what’s really going on but it’s crazy that it’s hot one day then cold the next then windy and wet. At least with all that rain you get to see where the weak spots are on the property and then can work out where to build etc.
Gooooood Morning Agnes. It sure does seem that way. I keep telling myself the same thing about the weak spots. It makes it a little less frustrating anyway
Feel for you. Here in Alvin Texas we got 43" of rain in one 24 hr period from just a little tropical storm Claudette. And with the remnants of him-a-cane Harvey we got around 60" over 3 days. Now we are praying for any amount of rain to come here. Like the Rollingstones sing. "You can't always get what you want".
Al, just one thing a grass barn yard will become a muddy mess in the winter if livestock is on it, much better doing stone or even concrete, if it's in the budget, it will also help wear down their hoofs.
told you that you'd have a water issue! Being at the bottom of a hill. Haha 🎤 drops! Shoulda put it towards the house and not at the bottom of the hill. 😂
I hope the coming weather doesn't bother you too much. Can't wait to see the next build and more and more animals. Thanks for a great video. Good job in spreading the rock.
Be sure to tell your stone company how good their drivers are at fulfilling the customer’s needs. I am impressed with their dumping aim and how well they spread your delivery out when they dump it.

Yes sir the shop looks great it would be very good to get the next project started before it gets to cold so you can work through the winter to finish the inside .Well done guy's
Have you ever thought about strapping your gauge to the blade of the mini and then try to keep it at the same level from the cab. Then you dont need to jump in and out so much.
I see you side pushing with the excavator bucket. I have seen several welds on the boom crack because of the sideways twist. Also using the bucket as a blade can cause cylinder damage because the circuit reliefs cannot dump oil fast enough to protect to circuit. Use the machine as designed and you will be good.
The driveway is really taking shape. Your vision of the shop-driveway is more grand than I originally thought. It gives you a platform to position all your heavy equipment.
We're looking good, but in my opinion. Even in your driveway. And what not approach to the burn? You gonna grab a bit even if you allow the grass to come up through it because you want a good solid base to any of your driveway approach areas.
Hi Al & Gina. That was a fair task in-between the rain & it look`s good Al such a difference in that area. The animals are looking good. Take care happy family.
Al, think about getting some new/used railroad ties to transition from gravel to grass. You can bury them just deep enough to retain the gravel but be low enough to drive over with the mower. Use some 3'/4' rebar to anchor them into solid ground.
Here in the UK we are getting the remnants of the hurricanes coming in from the US. We have had such a lot of rain it has caused some flash flooding (luckily not here). I know you do your videos weeks in advance so I hope all went well in your area.
Gotta love spreading gravel in mud, hopefully the drainage system will help dry it out. Personally, I would've put roadway fabric or landscape fabric down first, but It seems to work there. Love ya'll ❤
